Going diving first hadn't really worked to his advantage last time when it came to being more patient with the borrowed Mantine that apparently can't pull off simple tricks, but it had been pretty damn relaxing, so Mars will gladly stick to that routine.

Another Salac Berry. He could never have enough of these, though he didn't fully understand how they were properly used. He was pretty sure they were supposed to give Pokemon a speed boost in a pinch, but having these around just made him feel a bit luckier in ways he wasn't completely sure about, and he felt compelled to grow as many as possible.

At least they tasted good in a curry.

The Slateport beach isn't the most private of places, especially as of late. Countless amateur divers scour the underwater sands for treasure, propelled by either a kind of greed Skyler's intimately familiar with, or by the simple desire to have fun.

The captain takes no part in either group, taking the time to instead explore the ragged coastline - and finding interesting nooks and crannies along the way. Maybe something in these shadowed corners would make it worth her while?

For a moment, he simply found himself gazing upon the familiar shard he'd picked out for himself with a soft, awe inspired gander. He'd seen similar little designs in the form of stones he'd seen between other coworkers of his, and had even seen a few in select places he'd been in, but he'd never quite had the chance to see the real thing for himself.[break][break]

Between this shard and the first one he'd left with his Noivern, he judged that maybe he needed just...two more things to possibly replicate the object? One, even? That's is fusing them together could even yield the same thing, however— and that's if his hunch about what the shard had been was even correct.[break][break]

Nevertheless, however, he tucked the shard along with his findings before averting his gaze to another spot within the sands just a brisk swim away. He swam over as his Gyarados continued searching the nearby seas, brushing his hand along the grains of sand to uncover the next object.[break][break]

Free shit was free shit, so as he found a Pokeball within the palm of his hand, he just pocketed it without much of a second guess or question. Rather than lingering around and gawking like a damn idiot, he'd already began to make headway towards another spot once his find was tucked away, but before he could travel far, he found himself slowing down as a gnawing suspicion nagged at his gut upon seeing a smaller crevice just between a couple of pieces of coral.[break][break]

After some time, he sighed to himself and made his way over to humor his intuition.[break][break]

Instead, she let herself drift and float on the gentle currents that tugged her this way and that beneath the surface of the ocean, letting herself relax while the undertow carried her. For a frightening moment, she was afraid they might pull her all the way out to sea, but then another current caught her and pulled her back toward shore. When she approached an outcropping of coral and stone, she reached out her hand and found something, guided to it almost entirely by chance rather than by purpose or intention this time.
