AFTER SOME OF THE MOST BRUTAL SECTIONS OF THE TRACK, racers were relieved to be cut a break, even if it would tire their Pokémon a little more than normal from the uphill run. It was as good of an opportunity as there would be for the purely fast Pokémon to show the ridiculous speed they were capable of. A cacophony of Pokémon cries boomed from near the home stretch, their trainers pushing them to dizzying bursts of speed. The more physically tough Pokémon, such as Kaida Adachi 's ONIX and Toshiaki Macallan 's ARCANINE, could take a linear path through the patches of gravel and lose almost no speed. The giant snake's ROCK POLISH let them largely ignore the rough terrain beneath and make a big move on Isaac Merlo 's TAUROS and Raziel Beckett 's METAGROSS. The duo couldn't give any ground, though - not with a tromping, WILD CHARGING ARCANINE at their heels![break][break]
IT WASN'T JUST Toshiaki Macallan PURSUING THE LEADERS; Gwyar Wledig and MATIAS SILPH found themselves locked in an intense battle for 4th position, the Galarian knight pushing his loyal RAPIDASH steed to its limits with a QUICK ATTACK chain that made him a threat to come out ahead and possibly claim 3rd position if they could keep it up!MATIAS SILPH ' DODRIO displayed some impressive footwork, swerving around the strips of tough terrain and keeping pace with those around them, conserving their precious stamina for the last lap![break][break]
FARTHER BACK IN THE FIELD,, there were still battles to be had; Alexei Ivanov skillfully weaved his RAPIDASH around the strips of gravel, trying to hold off the persistent DODRIO Julia Davis was atop. The inside line granted the Birdfather an advantage, forcing the young Ranger to yield as the track narrowed coming into the home stretch, still littered by fragments from the myriad of EGG BOMBs that had exploded during the previous lap. kyle lopez 's ARCANINE channeled its inner OUTRAGE into a furious burst of speed that the casters remarked was EXTREME SPEED-like, flying past Josh Devlin 's MANECTRIC and Eva Morales 's RAPIDASH at speeds rivaling the Johto Beasts. The gallery roared wildly at the bold move that had to have tested the Champion's physical limits. The giant dog was, thankfully for Kyle, able to put on the brakes just in time as the course narrowed, narrowly securing 10th position from the Mauville Leader and Ever Grande professor.[break][break]
OTHERS WERE MORE HESITANT to push their Pokémon to high speeds amidst such rough terrain. Matt Vice , in an effort to conserve his ARCANINE's stamina, held back some of its fastest speeds for the final lap. If there was anything Josh Devlin had taught him from their race at his Gym, the final push was the most important. Perhaps that was the philosophy nicodemus unken and his GOGOAT were employing, as well. The grass-type was running a safe race, but safe was what left them in the rear of the pack. Can't win a race without taking some risks, after all![break][break]
THE WHITE FLAG DROPS!
Isaac Merlo and Raziel Beckett screamed down the home stretch at speeds that would make novice racers feel ill. The TAUROS' legs were nothing short of a blur, the METAGROSS at his side loudly humming, giving everything it had to keep up with the stubborn, Shiny bovine. The officials waved the white flag as the field zoomed past the starting line in waves, an indicator that this was the final lap. The display on the starting arch reiterated that in bold, bright letters the racers would be hard-pressed to miss despite the extreme speeds their Pokémon were running at.[break][break]
Anything could happen! Federation race courses were, by the nature of the sport, challenging, and no lead was safe! The crowd was on their feet, cheering loudly for their favorites as the fourteen blurred teams of trainer and Pokémon shot across the line like multicolored comets.[break][break]
FINAL LAP - OBSTACLE 1

PROMPT: A steep ramp toward on the outside edge of the opening straightaway beckoned racers to leap over a large gap that would cut straight across a winding series of shallow turns they had previously weaved through on the first two laps. The distance to cover was quite long - far longer than the two giant snakes could fully stretch their bodies. Rocketing up the ramp at high speed would give competitors the chance to cut a big corner and make up much-needed ground or extend their lead. Failure had dire consequences, though. There was no track beneath them; simply a large, thick net that would catch anyone unfortunate enough to come up short on the daring leap.[break][break]

SPECIAL 2: Pokémon that match or exceed the Target Number will gain 75 TP (0.75 second) on top of any TP they would normally gain. Missing the Target Number by 25 or more will instead result in the Pokémon landing OFF COURSE and will be RETIREd from the race.[break][break]
