The arena's set-up was appealing, though it wasn't his style. He appreciated the showmanship; an area he knew was lacking in his own room. Perhaps the remodeling he was doing now would allow more creative freedom.[break][break] He tables the thought for another time.

Never one to actively seek awkward conversation, Greyson moves to the food table alongside two notable faces. He gives them an equal nod of his head, gaze tilting down to appraise the food. It looked catered, but definitely not from an expensive restaurant. He didn't mind; it would do.

Satisfied with a glass of water, Greyson moves to the crowded table. His eye catches the likes of , , , and so many others. He had an interpersonal issue with at least half this table at least once, and, he suspects, he wasn't the only one. Hell, even where one sat was part of the many political, and personal, motives of those present. You could write a thesis on just how complicated the relationships were in this room. [attr="class","illeana i"]her smile widens as joins the room. the councilwoman is a welcome sight, truthfully. familiar, comfortable, and - dare she say it - a possible friend.

"freya," she murmurs. her head dips slightly. "welcome back, councilwoman."

morningstar's former position - it has been waiting for her to return, whether she knows it or not. hoenn is stronger with her amongst their council, for time tells stories of former instances until mistakes are erased and only her success remains.

's hand settles on her shoulder, then, and she shifts to hide the tensing of her body. unexpected, but not necessarily unwanted. the sentiment he offers is warm - dipped in honey and left to soothe.

"i am, thank you, callan."

her eyes flicker over, then, to find the arrival of more members. is regarded with a dip of her head before the scientist rises from her seat. a quick remark about grabbing coffee drips from her lips and she retreats to the solace of a less crowded table and a plethora of treats.

" ," she greets, reaching for a cup to retrieve her own coffee. "i hope you and have been well."

the coffee is made on autopilot - cream and sugar added as if going through normal motions. and before she goes, she reaches around 's cream cheese spreading self to grab a cinnamon roll.

her path, however, takes her a different way. she loops around the table and settles softly beside instead, opposite her previous seat and closer to now.

faintly, she registers her head turning toward the elite four member and a small, barely there smile rising in a makeshift greeting. it's awkward, as if she doesn't quite want to chat but the concept of ignoring him all together feels wrong.

and then, it's gone with her attention rotating back toward freya and the remaining half of the table. 's comfey comes moments later and with it, a warm expression of endearment as her hand rises to gently pet ellie's flowers.

Another couple months went by and the time for a meeting was at hand again. As she walks towards the door she spots there, her face lights up and gives him a quick hug hello. "Hey there! I didn't know you were gonna be working security here." she says as she also notices he was talking to . [break][break]

Maybe they should have a secret handshake...However she's soon prompted to go inside as she sees a majority of the people had gathered and speaks to the room "Hello hello everyone!". She scans the room and spots some everything bagels, she grabs a plate with a small butter knife and some cream cheese. She sits down at the table next to . [break][break]

"Congratulations on your new seat by the way. How's the transition been?" she asks, wondering how the new councilwoman would respond to such a question.

it didn't take long for the others to arrive, and he was immediately relieved to see someone familiar.

[break][break] "hey!" he says back to , and even tofu gives a soft 'chaa' of greeting, waving his tail to his trainer's running buddy. "it's going okay. to be honest, it's actually — "

[break][break] before he can finish his sentence, arrives and ollie cuts himself off to smile broadly at the new councilwoman.

[break][break] "same to you," he says cheerfully, only blinking with surprise at the head scientist's words of welcome back. clearly, there was much ollie had to learn. maybe he could badger for the information later.

[break][break] he gives a soft chuckle at when he enters, dimming the lights. "thanks, bud."

[break][break] as member after member enters the e4's chambers, it's almost a little too overwhelming for the new head ranger to manage. it's only when he hears the soothing voice of one does he relax.

[break][break] he blinks fondly at her, smiling at the redhead with a warmth that he rarely gives anyone else. "of course not," he says, standing to pull a chair out for her. "hey - i'll be right back. i'm going to grab us some food! tofu, keep my seat warm, will ya?" the pikachu gives a quick chirp of approval, jumping off his shoulder and onto the table to guard his seat, tail lifted, as the pikachu chatters with , regardless of whether the councilwoman responds to him or not.

[break][break] "oh, hey! you guys are here." he greets and warmly by the coffee table, pouring two cups for him and penny both. it surprises him a bit that the two are together, since he'd only ever noticed them separately, but maybe that would be a question for a different time. his eyes shift towards when he enters the room. something like hardened flint enters his gaze too at the sight of sitting across the table, but he's quickly shifting back towards the table where he sits.

[break][break] he puts a cup of coffee right next to , just like she likes it, even if she doesn't really say much else.

[break][break] spotting chatting with , he grins wide and mouths a silent 'hi'. then he turns to the next person closest to him, which is of course one of his best friends and fellow head ranger.

[break][break] "sooo," he says, biting into a thick cream-cheese lathered bagel. "you think razz'll show up soon? what do you guys usually talk about in these meetings anyway?"

[attr="class","angelomain"]Gradually the meeting room gets livelier. More faces file into the chamber one by one, all of whom Angelo finds he’s become acquainted with over the years. Though friendships, to random run-ins or partners made via Nautica business.

One of the latter cheerfully pops up by his side just as he’s pouring a second mug of coffee.

“Professor ,” he returns the greeting, offering the fair haired scientist an effortless smile. “We’ve been good. Busy. Sky’s been looking forward to getting together with everyone.” The lie is said in earshot of his wife, although the delivery is convincingly sincere.

It’s during their exchange that breezes past them to help himself to coffee. No words are shared. Angelo spares him only a brief side-eye.

however, ever the unstoppable chatterbox, is the opposite. They could probably hear him in the hallway outside. “In the flesh. Good to see you, man.”

When the Breakfast Club disperses, their treat and coffee run successfully complete, Angelo doesn’t need to search far to locate a familiar blonde captain. He discovers that   had seemed to have found her, too.

“Connors.” Angelo returns the smile with an unabashed grin, confident the new elite four had yet to spill the beans on a certain boating misadventure. His secrecy had earned him some trust points.

“Congrats on the new title. How’s it feel?”

Placing down the coffee in front of , he then slides a plate with a generous selection of treats between them. A plump pecha berry, tiny golden grepa berries still on their stalk and hondew cubes sit beside a pair of freshly baked breakfast muffins.

It was truly a successful pilfering.

A hand falls to rest on Skyler’s shoulder then, squeezing fondly. “Move over, Dross. Gonna have to put your legs somewhere else.”

Once she vacates her boots from his reserved seat, Angelo finally takes a seat and leans back. Time to put the coffee to the test.

Being late always rubbed him the wrong way. And while he knows the meeting hasn't started there were still many people here before him. How was he later than ? Well he knows who and its to blame, and they were the little blue and white furrball on his shoulder. The Meowstic was just lucky he was cute. Either way he does walk in with his Sygna Suit on as he finds it professional and with their last experience of something gone on he rather be safe than sorry. [break][break]

By the time he comes in he does hear asking about what they talk abuot at these meetings. "Boring stuff, they argue and more boring stuff," Razz jokes with his usual monotone to make it seem more serious than he meant it. Though those who knew him best like , and would probably able to pick up on the joke. The young man looking to see if there was any orange juice to go along the coffee before he would grab a sweat bread and take an empty seat. Salem being the one to much on the bread rather than him.

She’s late. Well, not really. But if you’re not 15 minutes early you’re late in her book.

It’s very much unlike her. Perhaps she overslept or got caught up in some reading or an experiment. Perhaps she dreaded having to sit in the same room as and . Maybe she was over it, and that had nothing to do with the tension knotting her shoulders beneath her classic scrubs. She had clearly come straight from the labs.

The room was dotted with familiar faces. A rather soft and pleasant smile greeted the likes of , , , and . She glanced right over and only spared a brief glance. Instead, she gravitated towards the more comforting Silph, .

Eva tucked her tablet into the crook of her arm and huddled over the refreshments beside him. An emerald gaze traced over the body guards lining the edge of the room while she poured yet another cup of coffee into an empty mug, “Fernando,” she murmured quietly in greeting before plucking half of the meticulously crafted bagel off his plate, “Thanks!” and she was gone in a subtle gust of wind that left a floral scent behind. She squeezed in between her two besties, and , “You clean up nice,” she smiled towards the councilwoman before taking a bite of her stolen bagel.

The latest installment in the franchise.


When the summon came, he rolled over and went back to sleep.

Some would say mistakes had been made.

He would say:

The commissioner hadn't arrived yet.

They were early!

"Good day, Sir! Guildmaster!" He intoned at and cheerfully as he joined them at the coffee table, awaiting behind for his turn.

He hadn't really been a coffee man before or during Galar, but his body had been annoyingly addicted to energy drinks when he came back. He needed the caffeine right then. He could get rid of the habit later.

With a cup of life finally in hand, the young man turned to the rest of the meeting, looking over those present with a hum. The room was filled with the usual suspects— few of whom he recalled with any real accuracy. 20 years truly was a long time.

Amongst them however, were and her much lesser half, ... he gave them both a grin, raising his coffee mug in greeting as he fell in step behind the fleeting doctor.

His eyes fell over next, waving at the man cheerfully. Water of the womb? cringe. Blood of the Guild? Based. He knew where he was sitting now.

"Councilwoman! Glad to have you here. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help you acclimate." He said with a smile and a nod, raising his mug at her whilst taking the seat between professor and Groudon's avatar.

"And 'ello, professor! Looking good! We should catch up sometime— feels like it's been, what, 20 years since we last spoke?"

EVENT



CRUNCH! the weight of the crust breaks under the demands of his teeth. its toasted surface feels firm and dry. the texture alone reminds him of the stale food from galar. while others remember their children and relationships, his are more mundane.

years of repetition has bore nonsensical hymn into his mind. painful years of commitment now pay off in tiny spades. curt poems that belie just how important their journey had been.

the rest of his memories are fading feelings he can’t quite place. like the food. he cannot remember his meals, specifically, but they pale in comparison to this era’s cuisine.

at first, the bagel reminds him of day old bread. until the cream cheese melts against his tongue. a velvet smoothness that carries a thick and rich decadence. the lather sticks to any and every thing it touches. the roof of his mouth is drenched by its stickiness, even well after he swallows.

together, the contrast brings a humble appreciation to two foods that would either be too plain or too overwhelming if consumed alone. only together, do they serve as a canvas for an extensive masterpiece. this meeting represents the prolong aftertaste that now seeds itself on his taste-buds.

until it was unjustly ripped away from him.

, head professor of the region, and arguably the most important person in the region, finds herself the victim of the scowl so desperately craves. in some ways, the transitions between them is more fitting than some may believe. what is left unsaid though, is the intention behind the look.

even the coffee, in all its bitter acidity, taste better than boiled river water. the searing liquid cleanses his throat as he opens up with his first words within callan’s chamber.

“tch.”

an eye looms over the tables and its seats. on one end is a mix mash of people who have promised the region the world and betrayed their ideals in pursuit of those promises. the other is filled with half baker quitters, some redeemed, others yet to prove themselves.

as the veteran and most humble among them, his seating doesn’t matter. he gets along well enough with all of them to be the perfect ‘fill’. with the table almost reaching capacity, he takes his seat between and .

one to save the long walk. another to temper both the newest head ranger along with the more anxiety prone predecessor.

‘Silver-tongued pain in the butt.’ Skyler snorts inelegantly, and allows that to be her only answer to ’s provocation.

Most of those present do not garner much attention from the ship captain. She finds her eyes flitting restlessly from group to group, absently acknowledging her familiarity (or lack thereof) with the later arrivals.

Was avoiding her for some Arceus-damned reason? She narrows her eyes at his receding back, wondering. At least and bring a lopsided smirk to her face. Doug gets a wink, even (Razz would probably just wonder if there was something wrong with her eye).

It takes someone approaching, however, for her gaze to snap to attention. By the time they find ’s own, Skyler’s lips have pulled back to reveal sharp incisors - and a delighted sort of mischief. No sooner does he take his seat than Skyler moves her arm to the back of his chair. Taking what isn’t hers - space included - is clearly one of her many charms.

“Nice to see you’re still alive and kicking, pretty boy.” With Hoenn, one should never assume. “Moving up in the world too, huh? Congrats! We should celebrate.”

Which meant getting absolutely shit-faced and waking up in another region, in Skyler speech.

“What do you say?”

Defying all expectations, Angelo’s casual arrival rescues the newest E4 member from a potentially severe case of alcohol poisoning.

Skyler removes her legs long enough for Angelo to sit only to plop them back onto her husband’s legs. Propriety? Never heard of her.

“Hmmm.” Unlike , Skyler isn’t ignoring the Groudon avatar - just bidding her time. There was enough animosity aimed towards to power the whole League Headquarters. 

Instead, she takes a pecha berry from Angelo’s carefully curated selection and bites into its flesh. Her eyes flit to , far too casual. “Acceptable, I suppose.”

When informed him that would have him, as well as , and working security around the next AQUA meeting he'd set to work almost immediatly. Working with the League's building security, conferring with Gunner, and having meetings with him and Navy, they'd prepped to prevent whatever possible omen the RVL routes had foretold. One the comms, quiet updates come through. Many are simple check ins that he lsitened to passively as he watched people enter the chamber. He does his last sweep of the inside of 's E4 room before pausing and replying to his friend. "Final checks of the inside over with. Cameras all in working order outside?" he sent back. Floating behind him, dutifully, is Joules his shiny Magnezone who beeps periodically as they looked above for any discrepancies. [break][break]

He takes a moment to congratulate , after stopping to nod at and . "Congrats on your promotion, Head Ranger Morales. Look forward to working with you." he said, offering a polite smile before the comms in his ear light up. He excuses himself, as he speaks to his comrades waiting outside. "Clearing out, the Commissioner is on her way." he said, as he gestured for his partner to zip out of the doors. He finds his way around to Gunner, sharing a quick note before moving off to take his own position around the perimeter.

people came in one by one, each of them receiving an appropriate response from kyle whenever they acknowledge him.

there's a salute back to , finger guns to as he holds off a playful wink that he'd usually use to tease the closest of friends, a wave to , a direct fist bump to to shake off her awkwardness, and then a fist up in the air for .

the number of people that have gone inside the building has kyle realize that everyone has already went in. he looks past the building's exterior and manages to spot 's entourage.

like a student not wanting to get marked as tardy, kyle rushes into the classroom before the teacher does.

"oops, i need to go." he digs deep in his pockets and takes out a stick of gum and hands it to . "here you go. it's not bagel, but it's close enough."

as he gets in, he gives one last word to the gym leader. "you owe me."

The latest installment in the franchise.


There was that ever so resounding silence that always came after the classroom was asked a particularly difficult question.

Perhaps because he was fresh out of the college halls, he caught onto his wits a bit faster than most, slowly raising a hand to let the commissioner know he was taking a crack at it.

"Good day, Commissioner! Your warm welcome's appreciated— Allow me to break the rest of ice!" He said cheerfully.

The word 'Capitalism' hung at the tip of his tongue... But 20 years of better judgement prevailed. There was a time and place for hard hitting jokes.

"We've got many swords of Damocles hanging over our heads now." He leaned his chin onto his palm, lips pursed. "I'm of the opinion the Dark Triad is Hoenn's greatest threat."

He didn't know if he could but he nonetheless tried to zero into the frozen icelands and the sea temple.

"Given what we learned from the Cloud, what they've managed before, and what we saw during the Meteno incident—" That is to say, the actual gods of time and space under literal leash. "I think it would be unadvisable to ignore them until they finally make their next move."

Even if some present had reason to believe the information from the Cloud might be partially or entirely false— Well, that didn't change the fact that the Dark Triad were clearly trying to destroy Hoenn, and so far, appeared to posses unlimited assets to attempt to.

"... But, that goes to just about any of the threats on this list. Hoenn may as well be surrounded from all sides." He said. "The fact that Rocket remains present as an inside enemy only weakens our ability to respond to outside threats."

"So I would say they are our most pressing issue." He said. "I don't think we should simply continue to operate while just keeping in mind that Rocket will interfere and likely make things worse."

He eyed the spot that was sootopolis city on the map, slowly dragging his digit over it in an X.

"They are one of the few threats we know exactly where to find, and who's resources we've more or less got a grasp on, as well." He said. "I know we haven't been sitting on our thumbs in regards to Rocket, but I think there's merit in reviewing our approach until now."

and of their new members, she flashes each a small smile. they're welcome faces, ones she has known to be reliable and strong.

beside her, opens up the floor for discussion following a pivotal question: what is the biggest threat?

"the drk triad are, without a doubt, up there on the list of threats to worry about..."

she echoes his sentiments, surely, but she steps further away from full agreement as she ushers through the thought.

the video plays on and she focuses on the silver spire ruins in particular - the sensation of their alteration etched into her body's memory. she remembers the feeling of being off kilter. it brings a small roll of nausea.

"leaving ourselves vulnerable to assault from other dimensions while allowing team rocket to collect resources - or, worse, allies - from these rifts is a recipe for disaster."

she looks, then, around the table. her eyes settle - perhaps a moment too long - on before shuffling on. a rebuttal is expected, even almost welcomed at this point.
