How did Victoria end up in this sort of situation again? At this point she was used to weird shit happening in Hoenn constantly but how was she always finding herself in the middle of it? She'd heard about the strange phenomenon of distortions since returning to the region but she hadn't personally experienced one herself yet. [break][break]

The storm appeared out of no where and knowing that she needed to find some sort of sheltered she headed towards the closest spot. But it would seem that she wasn't the only one with that idea. However, she didn't expect to be greeted by police once entering into the mansion. She was already on edge, simply because ops were never her favorite people. [break][break]

She naturally withdrew back into the crowd, hoping to hid among the other's. Focus would, or should be shifted towards those more noticeable than her. She was just here to wait out the storm before getting the hell out of here. She was going to suggest slipping off somewhere when no one was looking to Osiris, her Lucario but when she looked around he was no where to be found, which was odd because he was always by her side. [break][break]

"Oz?" she whispered as she glanced around patting her waist for where her pokeball belt was usually kept only for that to be missing now too. "Wha--" panic began to sink in as she whipped around searching for her things. There was no way someone could've klept it off her without her noticing. But it couldn't have just disappeared into thin air, right?[break][break]

She was distracted momentarily from her panic once her eyes landed on a familiar declan walsh except...somehow this didn't look like her impressively overwhelming boss. Could this be some trick of his? If so, why wouldn't he have given them proper warning ahead of time. Some murder mystery? What was he playing at?[break][break]

That was when she spied a familiar figure slinking away in the distance. "Cillian?" she whispered before quickly glancing around to make sure no one was watching her and quickly followed after her friend. Following him lead her to the GYM, another key point of interest for this investigation. [break][break]

Right when she was about to reach out familiarly to Cillian she realized there was someone else in the room that she didn't recognize. With that being said she slowed her pace until she eventually reached out to tug on the hem of Cillian's shirt. She quickly took note of how he wasn't in disguise and pursed her lips before slipping her bucket hat off her head and placing it on Cil's. [break][break]

"Take this too." she spoke softly as she fished around in her pockets for some shades. She wouldn't want her friend to get in trouble, there were tons of people she recognized from files she pursued in Rocket that were allied with the League. "I'm assuming you're just as confused as I am..." she whispered before sticking nearby but choosing to look through some of Andrea's things.

"Is the signal working?" Mint asks aloud as he plays on his phone while people move around. Vaguely he follows noise in the kitchen if only to take cover behind them should something get aggressive inside the distortion while he played with the setting of his cellphone. "Nooo....waaaay.....this distortion is crazy." he said trying his best to restart applications before eventually rebooting his entire device. Nothing. [break][break]

Not a single bar... [break][break]

At least the camera still works. [break][break]

"Aww, unfortunately, this is going to be a prerecorded stream. Absolutely no cell signal inside this hell hole of a distortion- or is it more like Purgatory?" he asked, his camera, panning the phone to take a recording of the kitchen. [break][break]

"Unlike past distortions, this one has a whole parallel universe??? stuck inside it? A huge mansion, no insane pokemon." he takes a pause. [break][break]

"No...pokemon at all! I-I'm missing everything!" Character breaks for a moment and he sets the phone on the counter for a brief second patting himself down before looking around for anybody else's partners. [break][break]

"In a strange turn of events, all my partner's are missing." This is uttered more as an angry hiss than anything else. Typical. He picks up his phone, now paying attention to his surroundings more thoroughly. "Scuse me." he murmurs shoving Isaac Merlo out of the way of a cabinet searching for cooking utensils. [break][break]

He spots a knife block, yanks out something medium sized and announces to his recording, "I'm taking this since we have an active murderer out here." and then moves on out to the GREEN HOUSE. He glanced at robin coello , briefly interested in what she was looking at before moving on. [break][break]

Others are already out there investigating. Far bet it of him to interrupt. Instead he scoots past Rowan Wrynn , Remiel Calcifet and Gwyar Wledig only to perk up after a few lines in narration. [break][break]

"Dear viewers," he intones dramatically, nervous smile pulling at his lips. "Do you hear that? That weird fucking ding?...ding....where's it coming from?"

His phone is freed from his pocket, but as he attempts to dial Hugo Albrecht, a dead line is all he is met with. His hand shifts to the pokeball that holds his espeon, and it’s strangely…gone.[break][break]

Concern flares further when he drifts to the source of commotion— unfamiliar sight of the old manse coming into view, Hazel begins to realize he is not quite where he once was. Though he can’t say he’s experienced a distortion quite so reality shifting before.[break][break]

The declan walsh here is markedly not the one he’s become more familiar with during his long winded tenure within Rocket.[break][break]

Guard up, he follows the rest and does as he often does well…blends into the background. Being a lifelong wallflower allows him that range of mute observation, and if he seeks to get out of here, it is swiftly decided that he won’t do so by running amok or leading the charge. Worry gnaws at the back of his mind for his companion, the espeon never usually far out of reach. More fretting follows in the hope that his husband won’t note his absence for long.[break][break]

Instead, though, when he spies the familiar face of an old friend, he follows Cillian Quinn out of the main hall and into the gym. “Strange weather we’re having,” he jokes dryly in a low murmur to announce his arrival alongside the underboss. Pale eyes warily note the unfamiliar faces of Victoria Beckett and Ambrose Hendrix as they too, wander into this particular room as well. Scattered among the exercise equipment and benches, he feels decidedly out of place.[break][break]

Adelina was a bit shocked remember share a nice pumpkin spice latte with her pokemon then she heard a hissed from her luxray. None even of her pokemon were here and now there is weird looking man with detective uniform now asked to aside him then in murder case. The storm? He must have meant the distortion. This was her second time dealing with the thing this but if the "storm" was that. It would answer a lot of questions'. [break][break] Especially with the odd power coursing through her. She felt odd but more relax than most. It might come in handle depends on what was about to happen here. "I suppose I could help." It would kill time and give her a change to see what police work would be like. She looked at the information and the suspects before headed off the greenhouse. She needed quite a bit of herbs and plant so it something just right for here. She began carefully plants for anything odd or out of place.

haunted houses were spooky, but fun. it reminded ollie of highschool memories of running through abandoned school buildings with Caleb Harcourt after-hours.

"What the hell is his problem?" Howard's whine could be heard ringing through the gym as he hid behind a stack of weights. Listen, he was used to the nutty stuff. Reality collapsing? Sure. Distortions? Whatever. He had stomached the whole spacetime enchilada before, but the fact that declan walsh was running around was almost too much for the archaeologist to bear. "What's Walsh doing here?"

Didn't he have, like, an organization to run? Grunts to underpay? Ferraris to drive? Puppies to torture? Slowpoke tails to sell?

Okay, clearly something was afoot, but why Declan Walsh? Why were they rehashing the plot of Ranger Cadet 007 - The Final Closet? Howard had seen a lot of fiction, and a lot of it was shitty garbage written by people who only knew how to make cheap references for laughs and make obvious plot twists?

What, was Declan going to be the big bad? Maybe it'd be Cillian Quinn ? Howard peered at him from behind the weight rack, hat slightly visible, before slinking back down again to avoid being noticed.

Nah, probably not.

Nonetheless, he was positively terrified. If death was on the table, than what were they supposed to do? What was Howard going to do if the killer showed up and decided to silence him? Make the attempt on his life as inconvenient as possible? Yeah, that would show his potential killer. If he was really loud as the killer stabbed him, that would really piss in their cereal.

"I gotta get outta here..." Howard swallowed, before bumping into the TM rack as he fretted. That was one way to investigate a clue.

There was something to this, wasn’t there? Being stuck in a strange place such as this one; Kouji looked at the rest of those gathered here, if they were distorted…What the hell was a distortion in the first place?

Ain’t anyone tryna lose their eat, so who benefits the most?” He hadn’t had any more information beyond that, still his curiousity lead him to that path. This was the territory of Navy , the detective.

What a peculiar situation indeed. So little of this made any sense, but it also made perfect sense in a way. Grigori pondered the peculiars of the situation whilst he glanced around the Tea Room. He could’ve sworn he saw howard slayte around the area, but they’d gotten split up. No matter. Probably for the best in a time like this.

Truth be told, the grunt was not up for the task of investigating. Even if the ‘order’ came from a different Declan Walsh. One that looked almost nothing alike the one he got up close and personal with in The Cave of Origins. But what else to do? That rainstorm and those awful Pokémon meant they couldn’t leave, and…

No, that was it. Oh well.

A few others had come here as well. A couple went for the odd noise underneath the table, but one examined the strange puddles on the floor. Tea wasn’t his thing, truth be told. A fact that one Kouji Matsubara didn’t seem to appreciate. No matter, there remained plenty to investigate.

In theory. Grigori resorted to the decorations. More of his attention lie in the pair near the table, but one eye admired the exquisite decor. This bookshelf held all sorts of literature he’d never even heard of. Not exactly hard to do, but it still caught his attention all the same. Or maybe the comfortable chairs held something important. The deceased probably sat in a chair in here, earlier. When she died. Or right before.

Peculiar indeed…

- Grigori goes into the tea room despite not being a big fan of tea. Curious!

THE STORM SURGES...

Outside, thunder and lightning claps as the wind howls. With nothing other than time until the storm passes, you all eventually scatter into the hot spots of the manor.[break][break]

Declan watches you all with some interest. It is only when you're all gone that a frown colors his face, concern leeching into his expression.[break][break]

The storm is reaching it's peak, so it will be some time yet till it ends....

TEA ROOM AND HALLWAY

The Hallway goes ignored, people scattering into the attached rooms. It is no surprise. The Hallway, upon first glance, seems to have little importance.[break][break]

Only Elise Calcifet, Yuina Higashi, Remiel Calcifet, and Grigori Sokolov choose to endure the scene of the murder itself. Madam Peacock's body is still present, tacky blood on her pale lips. Someone has had the kindness of closing her eyes, two coins placed on top. The room itself is a wreck but shows no obvious signs of a struggle other than the shattered teacup. Curious.[break][break]

Yuina Higashi picks up on the whimpering first, peering under the table right before Remiel Calcifet can approach with his cousin.[break][break]

A CLUE is uncovered! Madam Peacock's pokemon was a SNUBBULL.

The Snubbull's grouchy face peers up at Yuina, teary eyed. It probably saw what happened to it's owner and was wanting to keep close... the crafty little pokemon had been hiding. With some help from Remiel Calcifet, the Snubbull is coaxed out and taken to the officers to help keep it safe.[break][break]

Elise Calcifet seems more interested in the sticky substance on the floor. With the accidental help of Remiel, she does parse out that it isn't blood. However, she might need a bit more assistance before she can tell exactly what it is.[break][break]

Grigori, however, is much more focused on the decorations of the room. It is a lot of personal goods of Madam Peacock's; she clearly spent a lot of time here. Grigori thinks he can figure out what Type Madam Peacock was with this information, but he'll need a bit more time to look.

KITCHEN AND GREENHOUSE

Many people flood into the kitchen, making even the large space cramped. It empties again, though, as some filter into the attached Greenhouse.[break][break]

Eris Halla, Mika Nakayama, Navy, Hyakkaryōran Tsubaki, and Isaac Merlo decide to stay in the kitchen.[break][break]

While Navy and Isaac seem more focused on food, they do manage to notice a few odd details about the door. Eris, even terrified as she was, could see it had been broken into. However, it is Hyakkaryōran Tsubaki who braves cracking open the broken door and taking a good, long look inside.[break][break]

Clue uncovered! The cleaning closet door seemed to be hastily smashed into. Many cleaning supplies seem to be missing.

An empty spot meant for a bucket and mop are gone, as well as placeholders for things like bleach and ammonia. Someone must have cleaned something up and quick. The killer couldn't have had enough time to clean and put them back if they're missing... so where did they go?[break][break]

Mika Nakayama is less interested in food and more so in Grace. Grace didn's seem to keep much with her at work. However, it's not a fruitless effort! After a but of digging, Mika would find her purse. It's filled with what you might expect, from a cell phone, ID, and a few other bits and pieces to peek into the chef's life. With a little more time or some help, Mika thinks she could use this to find out Grace's Type.[break][break]

Meanwhile, out in the greenhouse, robin coello, Gwyar Wledig, Rowan Wrynn, mint frost, and @adelaine do their own investigating.[break][break]

Robin is the first to enter and straight away she happens to glance upwards. Hanging over the door is a pokemon. Long green tentacles keep it latched to the ceiling. The Ferrothorn looks back down at them curiously but doesn't seem particularly stressed or bothered. In fact, it just seems a bit sleepy.[break][break]

Robin works on getting the pokemon to come down and take it to the officers while the go their own ways to search. Gwyar and Rowan stick together; they peel through strewn about objects on a small desk in the back and inside of pots. Walter didn't seem a very organized person, but the two of them do manage to find Walter's Wallet. After poking around inside, the two can make a very accurate guess of Walter's Type.[break][break]

While searching through his things, Gwyar and Rowan also realize he does have a method to his madness. That makes the toolbox in the corner stick out in a way neither of them can really place....[break][break]

Mint grabs for a spare knife as he passes through the kitchen, his future audience taken with him in the form of his phone. Mint's sharp ears are the first to hear the mysterious dinging. With his knowledge of technology, Mint quickly recognizes it as a phone. However, it's muffled and echoing from something. He'll need a bit more time or some help to pinpoint where it's hiding.[break][break]

Adelaine decides to tackle the arduous task of inspecting the plants. There are five large rows, each one carefully tended and lined with dozens of plants. Despite all her hard work, she's only able to sort through one of the rows. While Adelaine does find many delicious looking fruits and vegetables, she doesn't find any clues. Adelaine concludes that she won't have time to complete this task on her own.

BEDROOM AND GYM

Andrew's bed room is surprisingly clean when Josh Devlin, ollie morales, and Kouji Matsubara enter. It's huge but was somehow still cluttered, lots of sports memorabilia on the walls. However, it almost seems a bit too clean.[break][break]

Josh and Ollie find this out first hand when they start to go through Andrew's things. While many drawers and such seemed clean at first, opening them up revealed a lot of things hastily shoved inside. More personal things, it seems, like an ID and some car keys. The car keys have an odd charm on them. With all these clues between them, it doesn't take long for Josh and Ollie to reach the same conclusion.[break][break]

Kouji, meanwhile, rips the proverbial band aide off of whatever's on the bed. A sleepy eyed monkey stares back at Kouji and the two other men before getting up, rubbing it's eyes to show off sharp teeth as it yawns. The Infernape starts to pick it's nose, unphased. Kouji flags down the closest officer he can and pawns the fire type off on them.[break][break]

Given the general state of the hidden mess in the room, a sudden strike of inspiration takes all three men. With a bit of shoving and digging, they manage to open up the closet. There are some boxes inside that seemed purposefully hidden. Perhaps, with time or help, they could search through them...[break][break]

Meanwhile in the next room over, Cillian Quinn, Ambrose Hendrix, Victoria Beckett, @albrecht, and howard slayte do their own look around.[break][break]

Cillian may be the first to arrive but Ambrose is the first to make a discovery. While the state of the art equipment draws the attention, instead a pokemon is what Ambrose finds. The Breloom toddles over when the man's eyes meet his. It hovers over one of the weight benches, seeming eager to help 'spot' the man. Ambrose finds a way to get it into the officer's hands outside.[break][break]

Cillian tries to keep a low profile but attention is still drawn to him. At least he has some backup, in the form of Tori and Hazel. When Tori wanders off to search for more clues, it leaves the blond and his companion to ponder over the TM case. It is obvious even from a glance that the lock of the case is broken. What's more curious, perhaps, is that when they open up the case, one of the TMs is completely missing.[break][break]

Before Cillian and Hazel have a chance to inspect the TM Case further, Howard knocks into it in his panic to escape his imagined killer. It is honestly very impressive how all his limbs get tangled around the large case. He falls with the grace of a newborn giraffe to the floor, followed by all the TMs scattering onto the ground.[break][break]

While some might seen this as an annoyance or tampering with evidence, the three men might realize that maybe this gives them another chance to look through the TMs.[break][break]

Tori doesn't have much success with finding anything of Andrea's at first. Opening one of the laundry baskets almost makes her gag at the smell coming out of it... but she does see a small backpack sitting on the top. Opening it shows that it's Andrea's, her keys and a few other things inside. Tori thinks that she can figure out Andrea's TYPE with some time or help.

mika returns gestures of acknowledgement to strangers Navy and Isaac Merlo , who had kindly greeted her first, even if subtly. as more and more people enter the kitchen, mika gives them all cursory glances and passing nods, a little overwhelmed at just how many people there are in the manor. some of them inevitably filter out to the greenhouse, instead, but the ones who stay in the kitchen seem very spirited. (though between the younger girls Hyakkaryōran Tsubaki and Eris Halla , the latter appears to be absolutely frightened, not saying much but gazing curiously at the cleaning closet at one side of the kitchen, instead. mika has to wonder if this is all really a dream, or if she's caught in something much much bigger than herself. maybe bigger than all of them here.) [break][break]

despite this pondering, the ranger's outer demeanor doesn't change much. her smile fades to a neutral expression as she becomes fixated on the search for grace's personal effects. it takes some time, but they eventually discover a purse, and several objects placed inside of it. an id card, a wallet, some makeup, paper receipts, a cell phone, a small tube of chapstick... [break][break]

the sound of the cleaning closet door being opened draws mika's gaze for a moment — but she's quick to revert her attention to the matter at hand, and continues her search, instead. they also check the area around where the purse was found, rifling through drawers and cabinets for anything else that might prove interesting. There were familiar faces like Josh here that should've comforted her, but the loss of Munchlax was too heavy a burden on her mind. Thankfully, while she'd raced to the Greenhouse, others soon poured in and made her feel less alone. She was surprised to see the Ferrothorn above the door as her fellow investigators scoured the room for other clues. "I'll leave this Ferrothorn with the investigators, then," Robin announced to her groupmates before taking him out to the officers. She had one of her own, so she was practiced in avoiding his spikey bits.

She returned to the Greenhouse soon enough. She stood beside a blonde woman, Adelaide Whiteley, and began inspecting different plants beside her. "I don't know a lot about plants or anything, but I am sure there's something hidden in one of these plants. Maybe a weapon..." She lifted the leaves of various plants gingerly, inspecting their stalks and dirt for anything unusually disturbed.

Half expecting hostility or an outright fight, Cillian warily responds to Navy's jest with a clipped, "No."[break][break]

He's still on edge by the time he gets to the gym, hoping to be alone, but Ambrose Hendrix spoils those hopes as quickly as they arise. A quick glare cast in the other man's direction is either unnoticed or ignored, and so Cillian sourly returns to poking through the TM case.[break][break]

He rounds on Victoria Beckett sharply as she touches him, throwing a punch.[break][break]

"Fuck, sorry," he'd hiss under his breath, regardless of the outcome. "You can't just sneak up on me like that!"[break][break]

She wouldn't be the first.[break][break]

He politely refuses the disguise, insisting, "Too late for that. Sherriff's already sniffed me out, and my brother's here too." The bitter mumble doesn't account for the fact that Tori doesn't even know he has a brother. Oops. "Got no idea what's going on, only that that's not the Walsh I know." He doesn't know if Tori's ever met the Rocket Boss, either recently or during his time as Kanto's Admin, but... "We just need to wait out this damn storm and figure out a way back to our world."[break][break]

His greeting to @albrecht is, mercifully, much friendlier than a punch to the face.[break][break]

"No kidding," he agrees, and, stepping back to let Hazel have a look at the case, "Go ahead."[break][break]

Then howard slayte knocks the whole case over.[break][break]

"Watch it!" Cillian snaps, stepping hastily back from the case as it crashes to the ground. His eyes narrow as he recognizes this guy as the one who'd nearly broken his TV. "Oh, it's you. Should've guessed."[break][break]

Shaking his head, turning to the group in the room, he says, "I was going to say that I think one of them is missing. Might give us an idea of what happened if we find out which, but it's gonna take a minute to sort through this mess."[break][break]

Hilariously, he seems more frustrated by this than when Howard had fucked up his house and woken him up.[break][break]

Sighing, he starts to investigate the PILE OF TMS, picking a couple up and reading their labels.

The notion of a murder mystery set within a space-time distortion almost feels…novel. There are people around him terrified, fighting for their life, and he’s starting to feel at home.[break][break]

"Eeep! I-I'm sorry!" In an incredibly deft motion Howard untangled himself from the case and bowed, his head donking against the ground as he crumbled under Cillian's presence. He actually bowed to Cillian, as if his presence alone made Howard fear for his life. A valid concern, even if Cillian was unlikely to grind Howard's bones into bread.

Wait, why the hell was Cillian even here? What was with Team Rocket's higher ranking members being in the most random places. Didn't they just sit behind nice desks all day, laughing maniacally as they cut Howard's paycheck and sent him off to die in Ultra Space? This wasn't fair! How was he going to work when Cillian would be breathing down his neck?

'Poor groveling form, paycheck cut by 50 PD.'

'TM case knocked over, paycheck cut by 500 PD.'

'Annoying me, paycheck cut by 5000 PD.'

It'd be a death from a thousand cuts.

"An accident! Allow me to aid you in correcting this error." Howard said, before aiding his superior in TM searching. If Cillian was more annoyed by Howard's action, then Howard was one strong word away from a mental breakdown.

He hadn't had one of those since grad school.

"Of course a TM is missing! It deepens the mystery. No murder case is complete without several unrelated clues leading to the culprit's identity. And, once we expose the fraud, they will desperately lunge forward to attack us before we defeat them. Wham!" Howard slammed his fist into his open palm.

After looking at the drawn attention, he began to shiver. Man, Cillian did not look happy. Maybe it was best to...

"Igottagosorry!!!!!!!" Howard scrambled out of the door and ran back through the hallway. Suddenly, he stopped.

What was that fucking STENCH?

Thankfully, she gets to distract herself with looking through the missing items in the cleaning closet, not quite understanding what it is that's missing other than... a lot of things. Why would anyone break into something like this? To clean up after a murder? Would that mean that they didn't have the key to it?[break][break]

Wait, is that mint frost taking a knife? They won't get stabbed by him later, right? Panic rises, but just as quickly as it comes, it settles.[break][break]

She blanks out for a bit, looking around the room in a spell of silence before finally having her attention settle on the oven hood. Something seems to be up there, but it's a lot higher up than she might expect. Without Reiner by her side - and her gaze does drop as she bites her lip - she's forced to look around for something else... Perhaps an overturned step stool tucked into the cleaning closet itself.[break][break]

She'll grab it, waddling around the kitchen and placing it in front of the stove. Then she'll climb right onto it, reaching up to check just what haunts the hood.[break][break]

"Navy... did you happen to see Reiner outside maybe?"[break][break]

Given that he isn't with the sheriff, the answer likely is no. But she figures it can't hurt to ask.
