HIGH ABOVE THE ARENA, MEMBERS OF TEAM ROCKET'S LEADERSHIP ARE INVITED TO WATCH THE ACTION FROM AN OBSERVATION DECK. Multiple cameras positioned around the main platform stream video footage to tablets provided to every attendee, though they may also peer over the glass railing for an aerial view. [break][break]

A microphone wired into the loudspeaker system sits on a table positioned against the deck's railing, directly in its center. The device is currently turned OFF, so that it does not pick up the spectators' conversations. [break][break]

Much like the TRINITY TRIALS before it, Neon finds himself in a room of his peers and superiors, notebook in hand, watching eagerly. He annotates names, and specialties, but only honing in on those he would think would make apt intel candidates. Brute strength isn't always the answer, although as a Beast, he had to make sure he could be both powerful and stealthy. But that was expected of hi. His specialty was just what he brought to the table. [break][break]

There's trays of sweets that catch his eye as a battle ends and he moves back. The little Unown D following him. It'd kept him good company, ever since Naomi Sato had given over its custody. Neon had spoiled it. As much as a creature like Diomedes could be spoiled. Even wit hall his coaxing, and Nomi's help, Diomedes hadn't revealed the secret to jumping through universes. But he was still an important link to Winter, and that's where their common ground lay. [break][break]

"Here, Dio." he said, shortening the name as he passed along a treat before popping in a chocolate truffle himself. It's heavy and cold, but it has a hidden wafer bottom that he thinks will be good cushion for his little bit of champagne. "Let's find BARNABY FINCH and THEO BECKETT later. I think they'll like what I've gathered so far." he said, eager to simply discuss with someone else his thoughts. But maybe that was just the loneliness speaking, seeking comfort in Rocket once more.

"Poor shmucks. I can't believe the S.P.E.C.T.R.A decision to train up prospective recruits was to go all 'Lord of the Cutieflies' on them in an arena! We should've just locked them all in a bathroom with Wo-Chien, it worked out well for me!"

As if that experience had any benefits for Howard's development as a person. All it had done was give him a healthy appreciation for the applications of bleach, and that Elisabeth Fiorelli deserved to be tossed down a well with a pack of rabid Sneasel. Howard hadn't bothered to look into the logistics of this event.

Maybe he signed a check or two? Hell if he knew. He was too busy prepping to burn Dewford to the ground.

"I heard a rumor that more of you were gonna show up. Is that true?" He gestured his hand towards the H Unown that Naomi Sato had assigned to him. It didn't respond back, and Howard rolled his eye and sipped his whiskey. "Bah. Keep your secrets."

Stupid Unown.

The admin in charge of logistics abandoned his hat today, instead opting to wear his hair in a ponytail as he tapped a pen against a folder of spreadsheets and betting odds.

"Place your bets, everyone! There's no limit! If you ever want to get as rich as Admin Cross or Underboss Fiorelli, now's the time!"

It was best to omit that he got a tiny sliver as well. There was a statue going up for auction in Slateport in a few weeks, and he needed to raise funds to outbid Hoenn's conga line of private collectors. They had no appreciation for the value of artifacts, and Howard's office had room for the statue in question.

The Letter H isn't sure what to think of howard slayte, but it dutifully follows him around because The Visionary told it to. It's nice that Diomedes and Kallistatus are here, it thinks, as Unown enjoy the company of their own kin - they are a Collective, after all: stronger together, always.[break][break]
The Letter H stares at Howard with its unblinking eye, and keeps its secrets. For now.[break][break]
"Parker is going to win!" The Visionary declares, slapping a wad of bills against Howard's chest. In her other hand, she holds a cocktail that's at least two thirds whisky and one third soda. Her crimson eyes are already somewhat glazed over with the effects of the alcohol.[break][break]
She stares up at Howard, then, lashes fluttering. Her mouth forms a small letter O. It doesn't summon the real Letter O, but it's a very accurate impression.[break][break]
"You look nice in a ponytail," she tells him. "You should do that more often."[break][break]

priam shouts with his entry in the room, a gabite tailing behind him. he makes his way to a seat by the bar and swivels himself around. he wanted to just do a single spin, but he subconsciously continues repeating the motion.

how have the turn tables for him and oscar clayton. it had been him above within the viewing area before, and it was him this time around. he felt him though. it definitely looked more fun to participate rather than sit down and judge others.

"wait, before i lock in, what are the odds?" he inquires.

he looks away from howard slayte and to the monitors that reflect the testing grounds. as much as he wanted to join in, he was pretty sure he doomed himself by finally taking the long overdue promotion.

"they're lucky i ain't there, else it'd be like an easy choice for all you guys here."

Zev stood at the glass railing that separated the spectators from a long and deadly drop. He watched The Gauntlet's sixteen participants scramble across the arena, some of them disappearing into the forest, others climbing across rocky ground. One in particular hovered above it all, waiting to see how everything unfolded. [break][break]

Behind Zev, the observation deck filled with noise as the rest of Team Rocket's leadership chatted, drank, and ate together. His shiny blue Lycanroc padded from person to person, begging with wide eyes for a little snack. [break][break]

From mint frost and his Unown-D to the group of howard slayte, Naomi Sato, and Tempest Quinn, from Shred on the sofa to priam conrad spinning on a stool, Luna whined and pressed her nose to their hands. [break][break]

Zev did not seem to notice. Instead, he glanced sidelong at his co-host for the event, jayden cross. "Who do you think will end up being the victor?" the Beast asked the admin.

Her Sygna Suit, unlike most, saw more social use than combat utility. This was for a simple reason: it dulled her immunity poisoning, allowing her to imbibe.[break][break]

"Betting on the riff-raff already?" she chided howard slayte, an eyebrow lifted. His change of appearance did not fully register, as she frankly did not recall much of his previous hairstyle. "Hmm. I suppose if I had to choose..."[break][break]

Here she glanced at the monitors, pursing her lips. "Ah, that one." The glass of champagne lifted up towards a monitor displaying Rhys Collins. "That one is competent."[break][break]

He'd helped her fend off that one Bronzong, the one that had terrorized them in the desert. Seemed a decent enough reason as any to select him.[break][break]

She wandered past an obnoxiously giggling Naomi Sato, eyebrows raised with faint judgment, before finding her way to BARNABY FINCH's side. Without saying a word, she lingered a half-step by him, a pointed glare at THEO BECKETT indicating her displeasure at his proximity.

"Heh. Tsk tsk, Underboss Fiorelli. It's because the riffraff are still in the race that the odds have never been higher!" Howard waggled his Aerodactyl pen at Elisabeth Fiorelli as if casting a magic spell. That spell being known as 'poverty' to those uninitiated.

Judging from the amount of Goochi brand clothing in the room, most of these people couldn't tell a GoodraWill from a Verscinderace.

Rich bastards.

"When the odds are this high and the chances of victory so slim, that's what it truly means to take a chance! By tossing aside logic, that's what it means to gamble on the fates of our suboordinates!" The admin put a hand on his heart, his eye sparkling as he spread his other hand graciously. "Whoever wins this tournament will be praised beyond measure. By bolstering our ranks of S.P.E.C.T.R.A, we prepare for victory against the Pokémon League!"

Despite his many quirks, the admin spoke passionately. Years of lectures had made him perfectly suited for oration. The effect was lessened slightly by the admin's reddened ears, courtesy of getting his ponytail caressed by Barnaby.

"Glory to Rocket!" He fell back into the couch, elated and breathing heavily. Internally, there was no warmth behind the admin's words. He wouldn't allow that to bleed out in this room of monsters. Not here.

"With that in mind, sixteen to one, Priam." Howard waggled a finger at priam conrad as he took the bills pushed into his hands by many of his fellow colleagues. "Though with the amount of money being tossed around, it'll be quick to change."

With that in mind, Howard would stay his hand on betting. Instead, he'd quietly snicker as Elisabeth stood next to Barnaby.

"Thanks you, stranger!" Howard bowed his head and grinned at Naomi Sato . "I can't change my hair color, but the ponytail keeps the hair out of my eyes. It's convenient."

Besides, someone had taken his hat. He'd need to find it.

A casual shrug answered howard slayte, ignoring the would-be bookie and his auctioneer's grating cheer. The champagne flute tipped forward to drown out her unkind thoughts, and she relished in its subtle, sparkling sweetness as she attempted to likewise ignore the man who'd drawn uncomfortably close to BARNABY FINCH.[break][break]

When THEO BECKETT addressed her, however, doing so proved impossible. "I've seen Collins perform well, that's all," she replied, lowering her empty glass onto a nearby serving tray.[break][break]

She'd truly put no more thought into her selection of Rhys Collins than she would with an impulsive purchase of a pair of heels, which she'd wear exactly once and promptly forget about.
