Upon making successful entry into Sootopolis, Thomas looked around for a target. It didn't take him long to spot , and his corrupted Lugia.

Attempting to take advantage of the chaos, Thomas and Ermac moved in closer. The Basculegion, taking on an ethereal glow, attempted to ram into the Shadow Lugia. As a show of Last Respects for fallen comrades, further fueled by his Adaptability, the Basculegion attempted to dedicate this strike to all of them.

"Don't pretend like you give a fuck about the people! You'd sacrifice them in a heartbeat, if you felt it was good for Rocket, and you fucking know it!", Thomas howled back at the Underboss.

This was… this was the first time, in a very long time—almost four years—that you’re going in unarmed.

Not ‘unarmed’ in the physical sense; more like ‘unarmed’ in the sense of the word that you no longer have the power of a ‘god’ on your side.

But maybe… maybe it was for the best, after all.

Over the terrible weather conditions, Lars hissed in pain as he took a look at the injury he’d sustained earlier. Sure, the pain had subsided for now, but…

Cazzo, I hope I didn’t lose too much blood… he thought to himself as he forced himself to lie flat on his Metagross’s back because holy crap, when was the last time he felt this much pain?

For almost four years he’d been bonded to a creature of ice, which had rendered his physical pain receptors mostly numb; but now that the bond was no more…

Everything felt much more terrifying.

The weather was too loud, the wind was too powerful; and his thoughts—his thoughts wouldn’t stop racing a thousand miles a second.

“I’m not going to fucking die out here tonight,” he would hiss to himself as he moved his left arm—yes, his dominant arm was the one that had managed to injure before the pair of Rockets fled for Sootopolis—and boy, if he had to go melee this was going to be bad.

He heard a powerful burst of static over the League comm lines; and bit his tongue because the barking and the yelling of the orders was too loud and too close to his ears. What he understood was that anyone who had a Sygna Suit of any kind was to provide covering fire against any Rocket avatars…

Avatars.

“Not tonight, Lars. You’re not going to have a fucking meltdown tonight, of all things,” he continued as he psyched himself up; never mind if he now had to lean on his right side because putting too much pressure on his left arm made the pain return in full force.

He had no idea how bad the injury was; however he was still going to bring his damned fucking best to the table!

Even if it meant getting seriously injured in the process.

He heard a grating noise coming from the cold, silver beast underneath him—and he breathed out a little sigh.

“I’m fine, Ro,” he would reassure the Metagross, giving the silver behemoth a reassuring pat with his right hand. He still had those hidden knives strapped in strategic places; he could fight melee if needed; he had his best companions…

Yes, this was going to be a fight for the ages.

Ethernet and the Gothitelle continued to enable people to get to higher ground away from the site of battle and more. How effective it would be is up in the air, considering that the water level continued to rise more and more the longer everybody appeared to be staying in Sootopolis. The Kyogre across from them was still focused on the tree deeper within the heart of the city. Gwen worried about the civilians here, but would force herself to continue, for lack of any of better plan.

The other woman, , would acknowledge her presence and seem to toy with the idea of fighting her, although their priorities were busy on their current objective. The Ranger did tense up at the mention of a date. And yeah, she was cute. Would Gwen look that nice when she would be her age? Why did all of these women have to be so beautiful?! "Wh-Whatever. Let's focus on helping these people for now. I won't cheap shot if you don't." Their efforts continued as Gwen did her best to ignore the damage happening behind her.

But as the attack continued, rubble from above came down upon them, and with both Pokemon being unable to defend against it due to carrying people, everything looked to be going south. But in the nick of time, a Flygon came down to shield the lot of them with BOOM BURST. The stress clouding the recruit's mind made her breath a sigh of relief as Elaine dropped down by her.

"Thanks for the save." Gwen shot her a thankful look as the last of the other people were shuttled to safety as they had a chance to breathe for a moment. Her eyes went to the Lugia attacking the mass of trainers nearby, with Gwen looking shocked at the display. "Is that...Lugia? But why is it all weird looking?" Despite the answer she gave, Gwen couldn't help but have to wonder what could be wrong with it. Another question for , one of many.

Her eyes went to the rocket by them, huffing to herself as she worries about , knowing full well their last interaction had been troublesome, to say the absolute least. How she just struck down a comrade so freely, all for the crime of trying to stop her from killing. Her brows were troubled, but she still was worried like hell. I don't know where you are, Robin. But with this stupid war, the weird man stalking us, please be safe. I can't lose you to this. She exhaled and readied herself, turning back to the other two. "I'm going to look for more civilians. If you two want to tag along, feel free to."

Adrian overhears a crackling coming from behind them—but it's difficult to see through the storm. Corviknight shifts beneath him, ducking into a barrel roll as streaks of lightning come thundering from their hind. He's rolled off in the maneuver, hitting the sloped tiles of a Sootopolis residence before clambering, falling onto the canvas roofing of a market. OOMF.[break][break]

Corviknight screeches as it crash lands elsewhere, causing an audible ruckus. As he finds his footing, Adrian releases Greninja at his side, noticing the rising sea level overwhelming the terrace below. Soon, it would reach them...[break][break]

Kyogre had to be stopped, or it'd drown the city.[break][break]

But Remiel was his problem now.[break][break]

Adrian and Greninja scale the nearest building, and Adrian scans the skies for his aggressor. Once identified, he hopes to direct Greninja's attention towards it, signaling to attack:[break][break]

"Bring them down!" Through the combination of springy legs and natural acrobatics, Greninja would fling itself into the air after a bit of urban parkour, coming within striking distance of Remiel and his Garchomp under the favorable conditions of TAILWIND. The sea rises.

The cacophony of war fills her ears until it's rendered a low buzz. She focuses instead on Melody's words, using them to center herself and the woman who has come along with them. "Glad to have your help," she says the other woman. "I'm Robin." She speaks with an unusual peace, despite the seed of anxiety in her belly. Everything happens for a reason, this is why her vision has come to life. She is meant to be here and fight.

And speaking of. A flicker of imagery. Red, sea. Blood? She intended to share the vision, but it was vague enough she was unsure Melody would gather anything of it. She was unsure if anyone would believe her. Few knew her journey as the black sheep in a family of psychics, few knew her abilities had been dormant all these years. She would wait for more.

She focused up. "I'll use Jellicent to attack the tree." She swaps Quagsire for Jellicent. "I don't have a lot to use at this range, but I'll do what I can." Jellicent launches shadow ball at the DYNA TREE. She knew it was important to help Freya, even though she wasn't excited to fight the supernatural, otherworldly monster that was Necrozma. But Melody wouldn't make a bad decision, so she was in it to win it.

The Shadow Rave does its job perfectly, pushing the leviathan into the crater... until it doesn't.

Black tendrils dissipate as a shield of spacial matter eats away at her Shadow Serperior's attack, leaving the Rocket scowling as she twists to look for the interloper. When she sees it, 's voice crackles to life inside her ear, granting her a name and a reason to face them.

While seems occupied with his own League vermin gnawing at his ankles, she remains where she is, albeit seeking higher ground atop the cliff face now water has started rising in a most eerie manner. The Kyogre crashes further into the crater wall, almost... digging itself in?

But why?

Atop the whale, the Kabutops takes another dig at attacking the leviathan, but the Palkia seems keen on halting its advances. Space itself seems to tremble around the Kyogre, leaving Mercury wondering. What could have been a cocky smirk turns into something wicked and hellbound as she directs her Shadow Serperior towards the Palkia instead. "Don't you even fucking dare!"

When the Palkia's Spacial Rend starts tearing through reality, the Shadow viper joins its ally, a Leaf Storm unleashed to clash with the Spacial Rend and keep it from reaching the Kabutops.

"Consider it done. I'll face that sorry excuse of a space deity... and its mortal shell." she replies to over the Rocket comms, eyeing as she seems to move away.

after the distant explosions, everything seemed to go to, well, shit?

mossdeep erupted into chaos as league and rocket alike began filtering back toward sootopolis. comms became too cluttered to hear, 's voice somewhere lost in the jumble, and she has to scramble out of the space center on wobbly legs. her charizard is released, the new ranger clamoring onto its back with an almost frantic look on her face.

even from the skies, sootopolis looks like a flooding battleground. they fly quickly, darting through darkening clouds and onslaughts of downpours to filter into the city. she lands somewhere close to the cave of origin - at least, she thinks... she had only pointed down toward the city when bodies began to look like fleeing civilians and her heartstrings felt tugged down by good-attempted gravity.

she busies herself with trying to help civilians along through the throes of evacuation, though panic levels seem to be rising with the ocean. each person she comes across looks more anxious than the last. she feels it sinking in slowly, their anxiety and fear and panic all transferring to her body until she's barely holding it together. her hands tremble as she waves them toward the safest route, carved out by .

As he has said before, there was a Rocket squad nearby they were able to link up with. Somewhere there had an Audino. A bundle of steel feathers had been pulled out of Calamus like naked chicken and the HEAL PULSES had done their magic. It's not enough however, with Neon plucking out extra pressure bandages, antiseptic, and needles. Of course, he hadn't done the stitching: he hadn't let him. So instead he focused on wrapping bandages tight and then checking himself for any issues. No fractures or pierced skin. No concussion. The rest of the Rocket's seemed pretty much alright. Mint’s promise to dispel the strange phantoms haunting Raph as a result of being embedded with many of his preternatural feathers had not gone unfulfilled-- but so, too, had he professed his inexperience in the act. So Raph had nothing to compare them to, but there they were, little neon-blue flashes at the corners of his vision, like he could look at them fully if he turned quick enough.

He didn’t so much mind. He thought about Mint most of the time, anyway, and their hushed whispers promising Raph it’s all an act, he doesn’t really care about you might as well be his own damn thoughts. Ain’t like he hadn’t thunk 'em before.

The demons who would be gods began to whisper to men from their tombs within the earth.

“I’m fine,” he says, speaking over the quiet murmur of the ghost-mind haunting his peripherals, “are you?”

It’s not enough. He wants to hold him, to press fingers over his bruises, make sure nothing’s broken, to bundle him up and draw him a bath and feed him something, and tuck him into bed if he hurts, and fuck him good if he doesn’t. But he can’t do any of that now and he knows it, so he settles for raised eyebrows and a cigarette.

Raph was no stranger to slapdash attempts at healing. Heavier on his mind were the strange events of their last fight, and the changes in Mint’s burgeoning abilities. He knew they’d have to talk about them, and, hopefully, soon-- just not right this second.

“Last round barely had me sweatin’,” he answers, exhaling smoke in even measure.

Raph does a good job of pretendin’, but he didn’t quite grasp the true weight of what he was stepping into. Mint having a god’s power was one thing-- but here, now, everywhere he looked, every direction he turned, every fucker and their brother had a goddamn god as a pet, and he had in his mind the funniest vision of a toddler finding the gun in their dad’s sock drawer and waving it around. That’s what it felt like, surrounded by Lugias and funky-colored Moltreses and whatever the hell that weird saber-toothed ferret thing was.

That vision plagues his mind, the one he saw thanks to 's meddling with that strange pokemon. "Xerneas, I'm coming. Just hold on alright?" he whispers to himself as he gets close enough to the city to see the water rising.

He flies in on a rocket ride charizard but immediately becomes shocked at the sight he sees in front of him. "NO!" he screams as he realizes the tree is starting to become submerged. He's dropped off at C-4 and rushes to the edge of the platform he was on, gripping the railing hard enough to crack the metal. The whole city would flood at this rate, the trees would both die. [break][break]

His fist grips the railing enough to break it and Bryan sees the league defending the creature. Of course they would, they'd rather protect this savage pokemon than put a stop to this madness. [break][break]

"SILVALLY!" he yells as he sends out one of his star pokemon that was found at the start of his journey. "HEAL BLOCK KYOGRE." His savage nature starts to take hold 's chien pao slowly influencing him from even this distance as he becomes victim to the influences of the ruinous creature. The silvally leaps into the air and unleashes a BLACK LIGHT from it's body as it attempts to CURSE KYOGRE WITH AN INABILITY TO HEAL [break][break]

He sharpens the metal railing, by rubbing the edges against one another to sharpen it into a weapon. He was GOING to save xerneas, there was no other option for him. However, given everything that had happen to him since they split, he did it not out of his own survival in life but because he realized now how much the creature cared for him. [break][break]



But that does little to stop the current situation. He cranks back his arm and uses all of the force in his body to throw it at the creature. Regardless of what happens with his attack he looks back towards the water and dives in, swimming towards the fading tree of light. "XERNEAS!!" he yells trying to wake it up "PLEASE! WAKE UP!! WE NEED TO GO!" he screams and pleads [break][break]

Preventing a second Kanto![break][break]
Caleb blinks. It's not the answer he expects from the Rocket enforcer. Before he can react, however, the big man calls upon a Braviary to whisk him away. The parting words of wash over Caleb, and he thinks, maybe I actually got through to him? before a chunk of rock the size of a Pikachu slams into his back.[break][break]
With a grunt, Caleb falls forward, over the cliffside he and Grigori have been climbing - face-first towards the city of Sootopolis. Lyra chimes a warning, but he's already skidding over rock and rubble, pain lancing through his bruised and battered body with every passing second.[break][break]
Frantically, he reaches out and grabs for a jagged edge. His fingers catch and he comes to a stop, groaning as his body rebels against gravity. With an effort, he hauls himself up onto the ledge, gasping for air.[break][break]
"Fuck, that hurt."[break][break]
He glances up to find that Grigori is nowhere to be seen. Maybe that's for the best.[break][break]
Lyra crests the mountain-top, gazes down at Caleb with worried eyes, her mega form's bulk blocking out what stray beams of sunlight have fought their way through the storm clouds.[break][break]
"I'm allright," the Ranger assures her, sounding very not-allright-at-all. "Do as Freya asked, and protect Kyogre - if you can."[break][break]
She flashes him a skeptical look, then cranes her massive head in the direction of the leviathan. From their high vantage point, they can both see it - and those surrounding it. A corrupted Lugia hovers above - the patron of one of Rocket's Underbosses. The man who almost succeeded in killing , Caleb remembers. Anger burns in the pit of his stomach, and it is as if his partner Pokemon can feel it in tandem, for the Mega-Lapras bellows and then releases a G-MAX RESONANCE towards the shadow Lugia.[break][break]
As the gale of wind and ice rains down, a multi-colored AURORA VEIL shimmers to life around the rampaging Kyogre. Hopefully it would protect the creature from the Rocket attackers, but also from damage sustained by attempting to demolish the island.[break][break]
Caleb turns then, to address Lyra once more, but something catches his eye in the direction he had come from, over the ocean. A figure...no two figures? are zipping speedily through the air towards him. His jaw drops in disbelief. So bizarre is the sight of the approaching duo, he momentarily forgets about the war raging below.[break][break]

As if the months of their reconciliation did not matter, as if she was the same bitterly cold woman who had tossed him aside no matter how many times he'd tried to earn her forgiveness.

[break][break] It was like being plunged into an ice-cold bath. He wanted to protest. He wanted to reach for her. But she was too fast, already heading towards the Space Center without any remorse for him. And staring after her retreating figure was how he was left amongst burning rubble in that burning city, because had flown the coop too.

He didn't have much time to question what he should do, however, because quickly after that, communications came through with the indication that they needed to divert their attention to SOOTOPOLIS, from wherein the large BOOM had sounded. Ollie was quick to switch to the Ranger channels, which were suddenly available now that and whatever other Rocket interference had existed had been dealt with, and climbed atop his Dragonite to head to the ocean city.

[break][break] Admist all the chaos, he noticed several other Leaguers making similar ascents. Through it all, despite himself, he found himself looking for — knowing that she was alright, that she could more than protect herself, but still wanting - desperately - to see her.

Mountain boots clattered against the rocky shores of Sootopolis, where emerald eyes scanned the vast expanse of pristine white cragrock. It would have been a breathtaking sight, if not for the chaos that engulfed the city. Gunfire echoed through the streets, senseless bloodshed tearing through its heart, as loud and destructive as the beast that had crashed into the city's cliffside, tunneling into it's very core.

[break][break] 'What was it looking for?' Ollie wondered, a pang of longing tightening in his chest. More than anything, he wished were here, strong and steady to lead them in this fight. She would know what to do. She would find a way to save them all without casting the city into devastation and ruin.

[break][break] Verdant green locked onto the sight of a familiar brunette who appeared a few feet from them and immediately Ollie turned towards her, his expression lighting with relief.

[break][break] His eyes widened as 's MYSTICAL FIRE came honing in for the innocent girl like a missile.

[break][break] "YUINA!" he shouted, his voice cracking, as he suddenly kicked off across the rock beneath his feet at hyperspeed. "WATCH OUT!"

[break][break] The Head Ranger's cape billowed behind him as he sprinted, but his Dragonite was far quicker. With a burst of EXTREME SPEED, the orange dragon charged at the masked grunt and her Pokémon, unleashing a powerful TWISTER to intercept the incoming attack. Meanwhile, Ollie dove, nearly tackling @yuina to the ground to save her from being engulfed in flames.
