Curiously, as if inspired by the proliferation of Poison-type Pokemon around the region, one peculiar SPIDOPS sports a POISON-TYPE TERA JEWEL on its head.[break][break]

The spidops has turned the place into an arachnaphobe's worst nightmare. The thin silk gave a hazy sheen over the most innocuous of things. Bushes and small rocks suddenly turned into sticky tripwires for those who weren't paying close attention.[break][break]

Tempest spat ungracefully and wiped at his mouth. He's ran face first into a web.[break][break]

"I fyucking hyate thish!" Was (kind of) said aloud, for the world to hear his misery. He spat a few more raspberries, trying to force the stuff off his tongue.

Reports of Bug Pokemon terrorizing the local fauna and new Trainers at Route 101 resulted in the Cadet and his Charmander coming to pay a visit. First Ariados. And now Spidops. The man was on the brink of noticing a theme. He thought that, perhaps, arachnids were more prone to dangerous behavior when influenced by outside sources.

Michael and Eimyrja were careful to traverse the Route with the different trip wires and strings laid about. The man carried the salamander on his shoulders as an extra precaution. As a Ranger he wanted to ensure not to disturb the local wildlife /too/ much. His goal was to maintain safety for the new Trainers going on their journeys' first steps. The inexperienced were prone to being hurt before they could even step outside of Littleroot.

The day mainly comprised a battle here, and a coercion of spiders there. Now, there was a moment of respite that the two would take full advantage of. Michael, sighing, slid his back along the hard bark of a tree while he slumped onto the grass to rest. Eimyrja joined him, flopping onto her belly alongside his legs.

"Whew, what a day," Michael groaned. "No one ever said being a Ranger was easy."

"Charrr," Eimyrja huffed, nuzzling against her human's right leg while plopping her chin onto it in a nuzzle.



Just above the pair, a purple-hued Spidops with a gem on their forehead surveyed their next targets. Surely, they thought, they were more than a match for a measly Charmander! The Spidops recognized it as a Pokemon that attended some humans who were just beginning their adventures.

With quick movements, the arachnid created a silk line and attached it to their wooden support. Then, they leaped off, using their web line to encroach on the unsuspecting Cadet! Slowly, carefully, the Spidops grew closer and closer, just waiting to strike!

Huffing again, Eimyrja opened her eyes to look up at her human. A gentle smile quickly shifted into a look of shock as she spotted the incoming threat!

"Charmander, Char!" she yelled, swiftly getting to her feet!

"Huh?" Michael murmured, opening his left eye.

Both eyes were now opened as Eimyrja's body language worried him. IT didn't take him long to put two and two together. He saw the Charmander's gaze remained locked on the treetop. Michael craned his neck to look up as well.

"Ah!" he yelped, taken by surprise by the large Bug-type Pokemon!

Michael instinctively grabbed a spare Pokeball on his belt. With a quick toss, he aimed to capture the purple Spidops then and there!

A minefield of hazards. That was what became of Route 101 recently. Too many times had people reported spider-webs that halted their travels along the road, now they had had enough and called in for help from local trainers or authorities. Seemingly not able to catch a break these days, Noel goes to investigate just what is happening in the area.[break][break]

However, this mission? Impossible. The land had become a rogue nation filled to the brim with all sorts of traps the reported Spidops had laid. It would be a tough day cleaning up all this mess, but he was here now and he would see that this job was done.

annalise grimaces at the telltale sticky webs that the spidops swarm has set up. the tough threads loop over each other and string through tree branches like a cat's cradle through a child's fingers. after assessing the situation, she takes out an empty pokeball and begins the task of catching and relocating.

A Spidops swarm, then.

Good thing he wasn't afraid of spiders.

Trey spotted a few of the strange, basically-mustachioed pokemon, but his main task was simply cleaning up the webs and traps that'd been left out for unsuspecting persons. The average trainer would be able to fend back Spidops the traditional way, but he was more worried about small children and regular civilians who traversed the route without any pokemon; they would probably be who and what fell prey to most of the webs and tripwires. Indigo carved through a maze of webbing with Night Slash while Riot used Breaking Swipe on a branch that seemed to be tied to a more elaborate trap, a barrage of sticks falling from a sticky net that'd been holding them in a tree. A Tarountula rolled free from what'd fallen to the ground, dizzy and confused as it finally came to a halt on its back. Trey rolled it back over to its feet and found himself smirking. "Why is it kinda cute?" Unfortunately, he didn't think he could say the same about Spidops. They looked too much like a middle-aged janitor moonlighting as a ninja, and while that definitely held a certain... charm... Trey couldn't quite find the will to call one "cute".

Route 101 had a swarm of Spidops and their little pre-evolutions. Like a cat’s cradle, the ambassador and her Pachirisu watch the strings on their webs being made onto several other trees. Most of them had not noticed the little electric squirrel climbing onto one of the branches of the trees and looking at one of the webs before a Spidops comes to brush the electric rodent off. [break][break]

Pocky is, of course, a little upset by this. He unleashes a Discharge that shocks one of the nearby swarming spider Pokemon. With a small sigh, the royal diplomat reaches into her pack and throws a Dusk Ball at the electrified spider.[break][break]

Another day, another outbreak involving some kind of poison or another. Rolling up his sleeves, Beau lifted his arm and felt his bracelet react to Nemo's proximity, the Swampert briefly becoming surrounded by energy before bursting forth from the cocoon of light, Mega Evolved.

He wasn't messing around, this time.

"Clear the path, brah, use SURF!" he called. Nemo responded with a roar, lifting his enormous arms and slamming them into the ground, causing a torrent of water to surge forward and sweep a handful of Spidops off of the path and into the dense underbrush where they'd presumably do less harm.

The attack didn't do much, unfortunately, for the extensive webs the creatures had had ample time to build, and Beau couldn't help but think of how they reminded him of the game with string he used to play as a kid - his fingers were so big that while his friends would make intricate geometric shapes with ease, Beau's normally turned out similar to the webs, snarled and containing the occasional misshapen lump.

He clapped Nemo on the back, urging him onward. "Next stretch, same story - let's wash this place clean, yeah!"

“Reminds me of when I played Cat’s Cradle with Crystal.” The Elite muses at the criss-cross string patterns. When he sees no toxic chains, he breathes a sigh of relief. There’s been an incident every other day, it feels like. A regular old swarm of Pokemon seems novel.[break][break]
“Cut ‘em, Roland. Clear the way. Rangers can deal with the Pokemon.” His Iron Valiant nods and complies, cutting the webs as they find them. Occasionally, Pokemon come out and protest. A look from Roland scares them away. Nothing seems keen to fight him today.[break][break]
“For a knight, you sure can be scary.” A grin accentuates his words. “You’re a real ogre when you wanna be, Roland.”

Not unlike the terrible swarm of toxic chained Ariados that had taken over the cycling road, it seemed that even more bugs were getting unruly and taking over...[break]
There didn't appear to be the influence of toxic chains involved, at least perhaps for now, but that didn't make the scene any less unsightly as the tree tops of Route 101 glistened in hundreds of threads of webbing...[break][break]
Not only was the setting unnerving and frankly unsettling, it felt like Mission Impossible given just how many Spidops hung within the tree branches, how many Tarountula infested the bushes. It was enough to make Yuina's skin crawl as she and Rasza moved forward, bringing a burning sunlight into the area... Ready to cull through as much of the detrimental webbing as they could.

The armada of spider Pokémon that infested Route 101 both surprised and shocked the admin. It wasn't uncommon for trainers to start their journey in Littleroot and move north to Oldale. With the swarm of insects, it was essentially impossible.

"It's insane! What're they supposed to do if they can't even leave Littleroot?" Howard complained as his Pokemon slashed through the underbrush. With his cowboy hat and eyepatch, Howard looked far more threatening than he had any right to. He was more of a seasoned adventurer than a war criminal.

Normally, he would've ridden his bike. Unfortunately, he had crashed it into an Ariados and had to deem it a lost cause to recoger it. Hopefully he didn't get a littering fine.

"It's an impossible mission! Hell, we should call it Mission Impossible!"

Some patterns are strangely enough, pretty. Strings intertwined like some ongoing game of cat's cradle, only to be messed up by a poor flying-type that has flown right into the center of the mess. "And I thought Mauville City was bad," Cass murmurs as they approach Route 101 where a swarm has been sighted. and are with her, too, as well as the trusty Trubbish Jon by her side. She's also decided to let out her Fletchinder Effie, even if she doesn't exactly seem super pleased with being outside under these circumstances.

"Better make sure- AHHH?" Cass screams, flailing as she suddenly finds her world turned upside down. Jon is not helpful, but still jumps onto her at least for company, taking a hold of her arm. "What in the-?!" she screams, until she's finally got to a point where she just hangs from the tree, in a web of a Spidops or Tarountola's choosing. "Help me?" she asks her friend. Why does she always end up in trees ...

She tries moving out of the webbing herself, but her hands ... "How did that end up as Cat's Cradle?" she ponders, holding out her hands towards her friends. Somehow, she got a string perfectly tangled around her fingers to mark the start of this game.

This. Was. Amazing![break][break]
Already Knight had fallen victim to one of the Spidop traps but that didn't kill his enthusiasm for this whole experience. He was fine with Bug types (even had one himself) and thought the little web-weaving Pokémon were cute! Well, the Tarountula were cute... Spidops were... Spidops.[break][break]
He had been crouched, poking some web with Victor next to him, when he realised Cass had shouted out for help. [break][break]
"I got this!" He completely ignored the fact Cass was trapped, upside-down, by some webs and stuck his hands into the cat's cradle she had started and helped make a new pattern, "I was okay at these when I was younger, let's see..." He stuck his tongue out as he worked the strings.[break][break]
Next to him, Victor floated closer and attempted to help in his own way -- slicing at the sticky strings with a careful Slash.[break][break]
