He hadn’t meant to come here. Not really. Chuchi has demanded sacrifice after being confined to the apartment for so long. And Mt. Pyre or the Safari Zone near their home wouldn’t do. She’d wanted to go elsewhere despite the fact that a trip out here would’ve taken all day but…well he preferred Chuchi to be content than to give her a reason to be angry at him. [break][break]

And yet again, on their way to find something wild to fight, Chuchi had veered right into the Snowboy Showdown, egging him of and barking lightly for his attention. She’d changed her mind again. “Chuchi, I thought we were going to tra-” A quick yip from the fat Eevee silenced him and she bounded off, picking a spot far enough that she wouldn’t get tangled up in the chaos. He appreciated that at least, not wanting to have to deal with an overcompetitive little monster today. He couldn’t shake this weird feeling of lethargy. Maybe because it was a holiday season away form home or maybe it was the failed text he hadn’t had the courage to send to this morning. [break][break]

Oh well. He shrugged to himself as he began imitating who was attempting to build a snowboy himself. Andres took a minute to watch before imitating him and ignoring Chuchi as she dug up snow for him to use. She was trying to help, in her own way. Occasionally she’d nudge or nip at her trainer, and usually that would annoy him or make him laugh., Today? No reaction. She had to wonder if he was bummed about her or bummed about his inability to talk to her. She let him be, looking around for snacks she could beg for or steal if that didn’t work. Tufts of pink flutter in the breeze, and before Andres can see what she does and run, Chuchi is off. The fat pokemon bounded away, eager to nuzzle and drag the poor woman if only to force her trainer out of his fucking mood. [break][break]

Luka had never dreamed she'd be able to see a snowscape like this in Hoenn.[break][break]

But apparently dreams of a white Christmas aren't so far-fetched after all. She's all bundled up for the weather with her Vulpix at her side, the ice type thrilled to be trotting amongst real snow. She dives into a snowdrift face-first, wiggling her tail around, and then bounds back up gleefully, her snout covered in a fine, sparkling powder as they continue to walk.[break][break]

Of course Luka has to try her hand at making her own snowboy. They're just so cute! She gets to work right away, with Vanilla and Bonbon's assistance. Though the two of them are very quickly distracted by the winter activities around them, and even Luka finds herself losing focus rather quickly.[break][break]

With so many snowballs hurled around, she can't help but get caught in the crossfire. She's hit in the back of the head by an unknown assailant, dusting powdered sugar onto her bubblegum hair. Luka yelps and glances around, her eyes narrowing over at . Hadn't it come from his direction?[break][break]

She makes a show of stomping over towards and , huffing even though she really isn't mad at all. "Do you mind if I join you?" she asks. "I have a score to settle, I think."[break][break]

It's all in good fun, of course. Luka immediately crouches in the snow and starts to form several snowballs to use as arsenal, though not nearly as fast as Mars is. But more hands gives them a better chance, right? A small pile of ammo starts to form around their feet.[break][break]

She pauses however, when Chuchi bounds up to her. The chubby Eevee is unmistakable, and Luka smiles and pets her head, though it comes with a bittersweet pang. She glances up and eventually spots broad shoulders and familiar blond hair, but looks away just as quickly.[break][break]

"I don't think he wants me to bother him, sweetie," she says as she scratches the Eevee's chin. "Do you want to play around with us for a while? I bet Vanilla and Bonbon would like the company."

Crowd starts to gather minding their own business after Nia manages to finish the bottom part of her snowboy, winter activity always makes her giddy in a weird way - amping the adrenaline within her to the new territory. Therefore, once she saw a snowball fight is happening not too far from her, she smirks and scoops snow and shapes it into a ball before she subsequently throws it to , , and while sparing from the cold ball.

"Hey, looks like you are outnumbered here. Dogpiling is not so my style" Nia greets with a grin as she releases Mahiro to the field. "Mahiro, build a snow fortress for me okay. Nina help her too, please" Nia asks her pokemon to make a makeshift snow wall while Nia creates several snowballs and line them up ready to be shot.

Gavin's minding his own business and adjusting his gloves when something pegs him in the back. He whirls around with far too intense an expression for someone who'd merely been hit with a snowball, relaxing only once logic catches up with instinct and he realizes what's happened.

He's from Circhester. He practically breathes winter.

He's rolling snow between his gloved hands when calls out to him. His attention sufficiently redirected from snow wars, he does make sure to throw the frigid projectile toward his target before greeting his boyfriend with a lopsided grin.

"Well no wonder!" Their lips brush, and Gavin taps the reddened tip of Temp's nose. "You're going to freeze, wearing that!"

Shrugging off his own jacket and the gloves that had shielded his own digits from the chill, he hands them off with a click of his tongue. Quieter, for only Temp's ears, he adds, "I'm taking you shopping before we go to Galar."

He hasn't been back since he'd gone to visit his sister in prison.

"Wanna help me build a snowman?"

Hideo could hear his shot hit something, and for a brief moment, he was elated that he got his target in just one shot.

Until he heard their voice. It was a familiar voice, but he couldn't immediately pin down who it was. And it sounded like he hadn't actually been the one to throw it.

Whoops.

Hideo was defenseless against the retaliatory snowball, nailing him right in the chest. This unfortunately meant that this accident just turned into a full-on war. "Well if that's how it'll go...Froslass, get'em while I find some cover! Make them snowier and Snowpoint!"

His Froslass laughed, aware of who the true perpetrator of that first snowball was - and amused by her trainer's mistake. She didn't plan to correct him, waving her arm as some Powder Snow built up around her in the shape of snowballs.

piper had never seen the snow, either; even with all the ice types they had- and that their parents had. so, when temp had left to go check it out, they had hurried to try to bundle up and go with him. it only made sense, right? after all, their ice pokemon were usually cold to the touch, and they lived in snowy places from what piper could remember.

but snow in hoenn? it was new, and piper wanted to see what it was all about, too. so, not long after temp arrived, piper did also. and, they were a bit too bundled up, with a puffy coat topping it all off. at least they would be warm?

there were more familiar faces than piper was expecting- namely and . which, honestly, wasn't saying much since piper didn't know a lot of people. with a wave towards gavin and temp, they made their way to eris. or tried to, at least; as they came closer, a snowball whizzed past them, thrown by eris herself.

sort-of caught in a snowball fight, or close enough, piper did the only thing they could think to. which was pick up a handful of snow, mold it into a vaguely-ball shape, and toss it directly at .

as he rolled up one part of the snowboy he was reminded of his time in circhester back home. he would always go and visit during the holidays with some other relatives and all of the kids would go about either bathing in the hero's bath or playing a game of ice hockey when it suited them. each year the activities they would do would rotate adding in a new one every so few years. how he missed those times. thinking about it now it dawned on him that they never held a snowboy competition of their own back home when he and his siblings and their cousins were younger. how does that happen? he paused his rolling of another body part for his own snowboy to take a moment to think about the oddity of it all...only to shrug it off and go about his day. questions for another time and all that.

It’s an absolute delight to watch and having so much fun. Eva avoids being the ‘nosy’ auntie and jumping in, despite really wanting to throw a few snowballs at people. Instead, she hangs back with a bright smile, simply watching as the Glaceon trots merrily around her feet.

The chill in the air reminds her of distant conversations with and visiting snowy places like his hometown of Freezington or Circhester. In fact, all this snow reminds her of him, and she wonders how he’s been. The thoughts don’t linger long as the warmth of the ice-type rubbing against her leg proves to be a distraction. A hand, guarded by the warmth of a mitten, reaches down to sooth the anxious fox.

“Alright, let’s try making a Snowboy, hm?”

Eva kneels alongside the Galceon, casting one last look towards before another catches her eye. She offers and an enthusiastic wave before diving into the white powder with Glaceon and attempting to build a base for her Snowboy.

Some Pokemon liked making small snowballs. Some Pokemon liked making big snowballs. And a very select few Pokemon liked being big snowballs. Such was the case with one Mareanie that was present on that day, doing her own thing while her trainer was distracted with something else. The small white and purple Pokemon knew how to blend in with surroundings of this kind, after all. And even though the climate was very different from what it was used to, it did reasonably fine. Her trainer had let her out specifically to build up some resistance to the cold, after all.



And what better way was there to increase resistance than to surround oneself in a coat of snow and simply roll around, towards a random, unsuspecting human, a certain redhead in this case. It knew that it would likely sow simple confusion with this but that in and of itself was good. People and Pokemon were curious, after all. The Mareanie-ball would likely get touched for this reason – and it had already prepared its poisonous tentacles to make anyone who dared to do so pay for it. After all, she did not have to deal with that kind of harassment. She was well in her rights to defend herself. Just rolling around did not allow others to just touch her, after all.

Having rolled a proper base for their Snowboy-almost-a-man, Yvaine and Zoroark were now busy collecting snow for the next part--- the redhead surprisingly diligent in building the snowman, while her fox partner was merely dabbling in the many smaller snowballs it had rolled. Both startled when 's Dewgong sailed past, the Zoroark going wide-eyed at the ice-pokémon's speed and almost immediately giving chase, very much intent on playfully tackling it if they ever were to catch up. It left Yvaine to tend to the snowman before she could say anything, looking rather baffled as she saw her partner disappear with the bobsleigh lookalike.

She hadn't even paid attention to the large ball of snow rolling towards her, timingly distracted by the ongoing snowball fight up ahead, and the sudden resurrection of a snow fort. Although delightful, she had a Snowboy to make-- and then a runaway pokémon to find. Yvaine had taken a hold of 's Mareanie-ball, catching on that this wasn't just pure snow the very moment its poisonous tentacles did their job. Letting go and scream would've been a welcome distraction.

Dear god, she wished she could. But there were too many people present, and the last time she'd shouted in a snow-filled area was in Snowbelle City, which hadn't been all that appreciated. Regardless, she had to save face somehow. So instead of doing that and throwing it, as was her first reflex, Yvaine bravely held unto the undercover-- undersnowed? Mareanie, moreso biting through the pain its stings gave her than the toxins trying to attack her body as she put the Pokémon back down. "Ouch." she'd mutter softly, frowning at the Mareanie-ball, her hands now throbbing horribly.

At least it helped chase away the cold a bit.

Locke finished zipping Pip-Pip into his coat and breathed warm air into his hands. He didn’t know how his mother could put up with this sort of weather out in Snowbelle. He reluctantly pulled a hand away from his face to return ’ wave, and smiled up at behind rosy red cheeks as the other man approached.

”Not at all! I was just about to round the flock up to get started.” Locke gestured around the field, where the Delibird had apparently discovered the advantages of having real wings when making snow angels.

”I’ve never actually made a snowboy before,” they admitted as they scooped an experimental pile of snow together.

Lifeguard the Dewgong barked when she noticed 's Zoroark giving chase. She was in her happy place with all this snow, though, and slowed down to see what this new pokemon wanted. The tackle surprised a series of barks out of her, but Lifeguard just seemed amused and tried to fling a little bit of snow at the other pokemon playfully with her flipper.

Meanwhile, Temp wants to protest, but is from Circhester and he teases about his cold resistance frequently. So, he steals away the jacket and gloves like a goblin, slipping them on quickly to back in any residual warmth they might offer.

But, he had seen and flinging snowballs at Gavin. Then, a snowball 'splat'ed against his stolen jacket and Temp spotted @piper! An evil idea formed in his mind.

"I'd love to build one!" Temp chirped, too innocent, as he leaned over and scooped up a handful of snow.

"After we take your down! Eris! Pipes! Mars! Tag-team! Get him!" And Temp took a quick step towards Piper before Gavin could retaliate, flinging the snowball he had made haphazardly as he did.

Snow is a rather rare but welcome sight. It blankets the land in an everlasting childhood and swaddles the youth in quilts of wonder and cheer. Even the usually grumpy and pessimistic Skadi looks enthralled for once, prancing and skidding through the snow as she paves a path of ice with her frosted breath. That does bring up the thought - If he moved to a region with greater snowfall, would she slowly be conditioned to let go of that innate snootiness?

Or perhaps, it's just one of her rare days of being in such a good mood. After all, it takes barely two seconds of his attention slipping for there to be a shrill yelp and a feisty snarl. Given the jolly atmosphere of this event right here, he's pretty much legally obligated to stop the Glaceon from bullying another, a firm grip scruffing her by the neck as he lifts her up from her prey.
