…what? That wasn’t how Pokemon fights worked. Violet just stood there, bedazzled, looking at her Pokemon being, well, deleted. She had seen death before. Usually, she had skirted it, personally, mostly just by playing support and staying out of the fight. Growing up in a ranger family she had been brought up with death, too, having to watch her father put down wild, injured Pokemon that were beyond saving.

And yet, that abruptness, that sudden loss of life somehow hit her differently, causing a bit of a daze. This was not even one of her favourite Pokemon or longest partners. Heck, this one had tried to kill her within moments of meeting. Honestly, she probably might have killed it herself back then, had that become necessary.

Still, the way it happened, one moment to the next, it was just so different that she needed a moment to comprehend, took an involuntary step back. It was just brief, but it allowed for her current partner to also come to terms with a similar occurrence. Granted, she could not possibly tell what kind of relationship she had with that Pokemon. But one glance at the other made it perfectly clear what was going on. Vio might not have been the best trainer, but she knew people. She could tell when someone was in pain. Only this time, it wasn’t caused by her, nor cause for rejoicing. It just was.

And it kind of stung that she did not feel the same for her own Pokemon, while also feeling sad for Elaine. Still, that hand on her own, while still scandalous, was reassuring. It helped, and she nodded right away, offering no resistance at all to the pull while following along. “Yes. Yes, we should.” Violet squeezed that hand a bit herself, seeking to convey her own reassurance in the process, wordlessly this time.

things are starting to clear up, and her mind is starting to gain clarity. though it's only clear enough for her to catch a glimpse of clones climbing out of their phones, and a grimace climbs onto her lips. really.. she doesn't understand the point of pulling out a phone in this place - especially not after witnessing the nature of it. were they inside of a machine? another digital universe entirely? really, it's all fascinating, to some degree. [break][break]

were it not for the circumstances, she'd love to research it more. [break][break]

but alas, she's stuck here as a victim to this overreaching voice's boom. she can't say she's thrilled to have a man watching over and controlling her, claiming her life to be in his hands. disgusting. [break][break]

her eyes catch a familiar noivern in the air, however, and with a narrowed gaze, "emmy" she glances to the tiny BLISSEY on her shoulder "helping hand on orion."[break][break]

the command is short, and cuts through the air quickly enough for the blissey to begin with a soft glow around her, EMPOWERING THE AIR SLASH. that should be enough help. [break][break]

three paths ahead, and none that she'd like to traverse. after witnessing those digital clones come out from the screen, what's stopping this place from pitting them against a counterpart of what lies at the end of these terminals? she shivers at the thought. [break][break]

.. but it's fascinating all the same. [break][break]

call it morbid curiosity when she takes a few leisurely steps towards the terminal, eyeing the porygon who appear to be pacified. if she's going to fight what's on these labels and signs, she'd rather fight a pokemon instead of a person. she's rather fight a pokemon instead of a beast. while walking, she spots the frame of a young boy starting to walk on ahead. maybe it's the nurse and caretaker in her.

Luckily the assault didn't last long. With everyone pitching in. Although one sound caught both his and 's interest. "Yes." Was his only answer as he glared at . Then again...the wierd clones coming out attacking their people might warrant it right. Looking over at , he ordered Frillish to join Hideo's Elga. "Frillish, Shadow Ball that clone, combine it with Elga's Psychic." The ghost jellyfish timed his attack and aimed carefully as to not have any friendly fire, and fired a ball of ghostly energy at the clone. Hopefully that helped with them, especially since they did help out. Then came the display.

Listening to Hideo, he nodded. Might as well. But had other plans. Nevertheless, Aaron spoke to the little girl. "Good luck and good hunting. Stay safe, and we'll see you on the other side." He wished her the best as she left to help someone else. Looking at Hideo, he spoke. "I got your back." He ran with Hideo towards Terminal 2. Time to see what this place had in store for them.

There is an annoyed scoff as Razz looks down at his boots to still see the translucent color that had been added the scans. Not that there was much time to examine it as the Porygon were aiming at the group. Several pokemon getting deleted which formed a bit of a lump in his throat. Cobalt wasn't someone he was willing to part with so easily, though there is a rumble from the Metagross in some support that they would be fine. [break][break]

It would give time for the Ranger to think about the path they should go down as suddenly clones from select individuals starting coming from their phones. She didn't have time to help. Not truly. She'd only likely cause more troubles. With that depressing thought trying to claw its way to the forefront of her mind, Kaida jumped onto the water spider, clinging fast.

"Go! Escape!"

The words didn't even leave her mouth before the bug darted after the group, her eyes scanning everything around her. There was . He was...he was an ally, one that hadn't worked with her for a while...she wouldn't forget he saved her life (or at least tried to). With a nudge, she directed her mount after her ally. The spider's exoskeleton gleaned brightly, a nervous Mirror Coat anticipating attack.

Terminal 2 was the best option for her anyways. She was nothing special like an Avatar, and she had no connection to the Beasts, unless their blood on their hands counted. Indeed, she couldn't get away from the Legendaies, their power, their influence, she was always in the middle of it all. She'd rather a friend in the middle of it all again.

”Klaus? I didn’t expect to see you here.” It’s surprising, yet as much as Mars may occasionally have some fun at the expense of , it’s admittedly relieving to see a few Team Rocket members here. Of course, he’s not aware that and are also nearby, but it's not like he has the time to stop and look around...

He doesn’t have time to react to the riddle being solved, in fact, his attention is instead drawn to his phone. There, on the screen, what appears is not the Unown Report but his own reflection. No… It’s not even that, is it? It’s him, but…different. Lifeless eyes are a sight Mars is no stranger to, but having them be his own is as uncanny as it had been back when he and had found the remains of their alternate selves.

It becomes worse when the screen glitches, and this “copy” of him suddenly jumps out of the device, reaching for him.

Mars barely has time to react before his own hands wrap around his throat. Golden eyes widen, and it’s ’s voice that warns him of the attacks coming his way. He has no time to figure out where the attacks are coming from or from who. In the blink of an eye, just as ’s Hydreigon charges towards the copy with its OUTRAGE and ’s knife cuts through the air, Mars disappears, out of the clone's grasp. An act of TELEPORTATION that could be easily dismissed in all the commotion and if not could just be attributed to the actions of a pokémon. He doesn’t take the time to think of this, though. It’s an instinctive reaction and nothing more.

When reappearing closer to where the paths break off, Mars sees his Unown levitating towards him, and while the previous attacks along with the FRENZY PLANT of ’ Quagsire might be enough, he decides to take no chances. Truth be told, it’s also because he’s pissed. What is it with other dimensions attempting to assault him with copies of himself? At least this one isn’t all blood and bone.

As the fight raged on, it seemed for the most part that they were winning and that at least progress was being made. With the bar filling up he took the time to look back at his phone and try to get better angles of the recording only to see himself. Except its not the half smile and bright eyes he's used to, but placid, blank eyes staring up at him. And then the figure slams on the screen and he jumped. her face pales slightly as a thought rises: what comes next?

she steps forward to assist with tugging away from his digital clone, using as much force as she can possibly muster. and once he's freed, or mostly freed...

her attention turns elsewhere.

she looks to the files that pop up and then to the trainers around their group. fellow science sister is rushing toward terminal two, alongside and . her features darken slightly at the sight of fernando and a mental note is quickly made to keep her distance. there's still tension between them after everything said.

"come on," she murmurs to the group. a quick glance travels between the faces of , , , , and whoever still remains before she's stepping forward to make her way to terminal two. her salamence huffs in annoyance but follows closely behind, eyes overly alert and teeth snapping.

it expects a fight as much as she does. healing mist trails behind in her wake, as if the subconscious already knows pain lies ahead.

In the chaos of it all, a singular event stood out as if happening in slow motion: a digitized limb reaching out from 's phone, fingers outstretched and attempting to dig into the underboss' throat. They make purchase, and Barnaby's heart sinks. He's too far away to help, his Pokémon already preoccupied with fending off the PORYGONs' attacks - there was nothing he could do.

Luckily, Mars was capable of handling the threat himself. In an instant he was gone, teleported away by his unique power. He reappeared farther down the platform, where several divergent paths had formed. It seemed this spelled the end to the first assault, as the PORYGON relented and returned to their dormant state.

The riddle's answer 'DATA' seemed to have been recognized and accepted by the proctor of this digital game - the chaos stopped, and each person present (still standing) was given a file.

Barnaby's file attached itself to the back of his hand and, although he assessed his options from the hologram that appeared, he already knew which avenue he'd choose. After returning his LAPRAS to her Poké Ball and then releasing his GALLADE, Barnaby called for to follow toward TERMINAL #1.

There he joined and the group that had gathered, some of which he knew like and . There were others that he recognized as well, although they only knew him as the journalist and would not recognize him as he was now. This included , , and .

Before acknowledging the others, Barnaby approached Mars first, concern evident in the way his brows furrowed and in the tight, insistent tone of his voice. "Are you alright?"

He seemed fine, but the red marks around Mars' throat were a lingering reminder of how close his clone had gotten to doing real damage. Resisting the urge to reach out to the underboss, Barnaby instead motioned for his GALLADE to come closer. The Blade Pokémon was capable of administering HEAL PULSE when needed.

"Let him treat your injuries before we continue any further." It was then that Barnaby's attention fixed itself to the group at large. "And anyone else that may be hurt."
