Another trek down the runway would see to it that all of the contestants are drenched. Warned to watch his footing, Derek figures he might as well make his way out in style. Instructing Jonesy, the Sobble is quick to completely SOAK the floor.

Rather than walk out, Derek picks up in pace, shooting out like a slip-and-slide on his stomach. Eventually coming to a stop, he strikes a a pose lying on his side, hand propped under his head. What he didn't anticipate was Jonesy sliding out there with him. After Jonesy collided into Derek with a splash, the Sobble climbed up over Derek to smile and wave at the crowd.

Speaking briefly with the event organizers let Nenet borrow a Primarina to aid in her next walk down the runway. The brilliant ochre and gold makeup from before is washed away; it has now been replaced with bruises of charcoal grey and cerulean around her eyes, the makeup shimmering like waves graced beneath caresses of moonlight - beneath each of her golden eyes is a single sequin star just below her eyelid, silvery and pale - stars beneath the waves.

As she takes to the stage once more Nenet nods to the nearby seal, and an Oceanic Operetta storms to life behind her. Cresting against the back of the runway and spilling down in rivulets around her ankles as she walks, a haunting aria accompanies Nenet's performance.

At the end of the runway, her movements fluid as silk pulled through the sea, Nenet pushes her body into an elegant arc. She leans forwards, her body controlled and elegant as one leg lifts behind her and she balances on a single foot, now en pointe.

The aria fades, and the torrent of waves slows to a trickle, the star consumed in darkness.

Just behind one of the crowd favourites, Neffatari Nzingha, comes one of the swimsuit contestants that had thus far left a lot to be desired.

Angelo doesn't seem concerned about his pathetic score as he lifts his 'borrowed' neon green, pinap berry themed sunglasses atop his head. Casually strolling down the soaked runway as the fabricated RAIN DANCE falls.

Everyone likes an underdog story.

Cutting over the tail end of Neffatari Nzingha's ear-orgasmic Oceanic Operetta, comes the screeching heralds of hell. Wingull blasting the song of their people for all to appreciate SUPERSONIC sending ripples across the soaked runway like heavy thrums of a beat dropped, sending droplets skyward.

Skyler hadn't been made aware that there would be a second round of this. So when her name is called she has a moment of 'oh, fuck' before scrambling from her seated position to jump onstage, tequila bottle in hand and sand sticking to unmentionable places.

Elegance had never, and would never be one of her strongest assets. Confidence, on the other hand, was in overabundance. It tilts the angle of her chin, tugs at the corners of her lips, trickles up the column of her spine in a soft, sensual caress.

If anything, Skyler is intimately aware of her own physicality. And it shows.

Having left Dorado somewhere in the crowd to terrorrize the locals, the captain finds herself bereft of a companion. Compared to the screeching of hell that had preceded her entrance (and which she'd mostly ignored in favor of appreciating deliciously shaped abs. Thanks angelo vestri ), her presentation is far quieter.

A twitch of her finger has the water around her stop its motion to instead slowly gravitate towards Skyler herself. By the time she reaches the end of the catwalk, a small spout whistles around the blonde, its many drops glinting with reflected sunlight like oceanic jewels.

Skyler had always been partial to shiny things. Especially if they could be hers.

She takes the bottle to her lips, sighing in pleasure at the burn. With a roguish wink, the tiny spout is dispelled and she makes to exit the stage.

So it wasn’t his best showing, but he was up against some stiff competition. He didn’t have anything as fancy in his back pocket as a lunar wing or a magical girl transformation-- but that didn’t bother him! The important thing was he didn’t get too in his head, because even though it was a competition, it was all for a good cause.

Vermillion tutters concernedly, looping around him. “It’s okay, Verm,” he soothes, adjusting the lei of matching flowers resting around his neck, “it’s just the first round.” He took his place in the queue and watched the other contestants walk through the Octillery’s water spouts. Some used it to their advantage, while others slipped and stumbled.

“Just gotta keep our footing and we’ll be good,” he said, checking his flippy-floppies.

When his turn came, he strutted out on stage, walking without hesitation into the spray. The water sluiced over his collar bones and chest, and he held in his breath, flexing to his advantage. The result was a shimmering sheen over the tanned curvature of his skin. He threaded his hand through his crimson hair, ruffling it against his scalp, flashing a charming grin into the crowd.

being middle of the pack was where kyle exceled the most.

the attention wasn't at him, and that's best since it's usually the people who do the best and those that do the worse that often gets the spotlight.

being mid also meant that he can do things that could possibly jeopardize his position without much consequences.

he holds his remoraid with his one hand and soaks the audience to create impact for the event.

the crowd goes wild, mostly since many of them were inebriated, and cheers for the interaction between the contestant and them. doesn't help that kyle hypes them up with fist pumps in the air.

As the next round began, the sight of the Octillery lining the runway was like—ah, so they were determined to turn the runway into some sort of slip ‘n slide, with the way they were blasting water all over the place?

Well, if there’s one thing that many people may not think of, it’s the fact that there’s a reason why the human skin becomes pruny when exposed for extended periods of time to water—it’s not to make them raisins, it’s to give them better grip on whatever surface they just happen to be treading on.

…like the slippery runway right here, so…

Don’t overthink it, don’t overthink it, don’t overthink it! she thought to herself as she gave Momiji the look, and the Gardevoir cued in as they made their second pass down the runway.

It was like a Rain Dance was coming down on them all, blessing everyone ~~with the rains of Africa~~ with the sweet, merciful bounty—a reprieve from the terrible Hoennian summer going on all around them.

For her second run down the stage, Xiura wore a pure white one piece swimsuit, its asymmetrical neckline cresting over only her left shoulder and leaving the other bare. A wing-like applique crafted of gossamer was pinned to the shoulder of the piece, aesthetically draping down along the shoulder blade. In her hair, a web of translucent crystals was carefully pinned throughout the violet-blue ringlets, falling in a loosely curled chignon over her bare shoulder. Her sandals were crystal-white as well, with ornamental ribbons winding in crisscrossing helices up to her lower thighs.

As she glided down the runway, water fell like a RAIN DANCE, and with its dissipation in the hot summer air, created a soft, ethereal screen of mist. The stage lights were caught and refracted in these minuscule, drifting prisms, and so too were the multitudinous, miniature crystals painstakingly sewn into eddying WHIRLPOOL-like patterns on her pure white swimsuit and the crystal pins fastened throughout her deep purple hair. A soft iridescent radiance sparkled from her and from the droplets caught adrift in the air as though time had slowed in a dream.

At the end of the runway, Xiura twirled once, smiling for the judges, then pulled a WATER GUN somehow secreted beneath the curls of her thick hair and sprayed it at the crowd with a playful smile. After her surprise, she tossed the near-empty water gun to a person in the crowd. She walked all the way back to the beginning of the runway, then burst into a laugh. This was so fun!

He's grinning and shouting with the loudest of them as the first place contestant Ashley Shepard goes up to strut one more time. He doesn't see Calem Pollet go out before it's his turn and panics. As Zabaglione runs out ahead of him, another contestant's RAIN DANCE is still going strong. The berry colored Zigzagoon tumbles forward to the edge of the edge of the runway dizzy and stuck on the ground as their trainer chases. Music blasts and Mint found himself resorting to a mess of mixed tik tok dances on his way to picking up his pokemon. Just in time for the music to end, and the pair to pop a pose, Mint held up his pink and blue Zigzagoon like Simba, to an audience of soft gasps as the saw the Zigzagoon was alright. [break][break]

annalise isn't on the leaderboards, but there are a lot of cuties here so she isn't too pressed about it. as long as she can take a little look at them from the side of the stage — and as long as she gets at least a crumb of attention from the crowd when it's her turn — she's content with her spot on the list.

her milotic, venus, slithers down the runway with her this round. as the octillery begin to spray water at them, the sea serpent channels the oncoming water into aqua rings that halo her trainer. careful of the slick floor, annalise moves down the runway. mist sprays off the rings and brings welcome cool to her uncomfortably warm skin. [break][break]at the end of the runway, annalise pauses to throw up a v-sign and give the audience a bright smile, the hot hoennian sun shimmering through the aqua rings floating around her. [break][break]

Locke stepped carefully down the slippery runway, hoping it looked more graceful than he felt. Helping him was Moko-Moko, a tall Ampharos wearing a cute yellow raincoat, whose arm he gently leaned into as she led them forward.

Her other arm was raised overhead, casting a shimmering Light Screen above the pair while they walked. It blocked most of the Water Guns, leaving only a light mist raining down that kept them just dry enough to avoid looking like soaked rats, but just wet enough to reflect the halo of rainbows forming above them as the water passed through the light.

He had tripped.

He had ACTUALLY tripped! Maybe it was because he was so distracted by grinning at Izumi, but he had straight up tripped on the way back.

Well, this Contest was not off to a good start, to say the least. But apparently there were more rounds. And more times for him to go out there and make a fool out of himself. The blonde was very quickly beginning to realize that he had made a terrible mistake and should probably Flee, but it was too late. Izumi was going to go back up there, so... Well, he was stuck.

At least she looked good in a swimsuit.

Then there were sprinklers. So this time he thought to bring out a Water Type Pokemon to better work with them. Strategizing with Pokemon to suit a situation, ok THAT he could do. And he'd won a Pokemon Contest before, right? He could pull this off. Maybe. Probably not, but still a maybe.

So as his name was called, a Blastoise had retreated into its shell and began sliding down the ramp, using the water from the cannons to make the slide ever-slippier - while the swimsuit-clad Trainer stood atop it while the shell spun, taking it step by step in the struggle to stay atop. But despite the high-speed slide, Trainer and Pokemon would prove to have a great deal of control as Bastilo (Blastoise) would stop right at the edge of the runway. The Blastoise would begin spinning in place, while the Trainer took a super-hero type pose atop the shell, surprisingly adept at keeping his balance even as the Blastoise' spinning grew faster and faster. Bastilo would use Hydro Pump then, bringing rain to the skies through the spin.

At the end of the spin, Bastilo would direct the cannons downwards and shoot itself up by using the the ramp as the target in order to keep from hitting any civilians. Once Bastilo righted itself, Josh would let go and fall. The Ranger would backflip through the air before once again landing in the superhero pose as a rain flowered the ending.

As applause filled the area, Josh would stand, hold his arms out to the sides to appeal, and smile cheerily towards his son, daughter and competing wife. Of course, that smile faded as a shadow would fall over him.

The Blastoise was coming back down. And it was coming back down on him. Josh's gaze slowly moved up at the approaching Blastoise.

"Oh shi-" the Ranger managed out as quick reflexes brought out his Pokeball and recalled Bastilo at the last moment before disaster. To the laughter of the crowd.

EVANGELINE ⨀ ✨ NATURAL CURE | Protect / Psychic / Power Gem / Scald / Cosmic Power / Thunder Wave

Excess and extravagance were hallmarks of any competition meant to highlight the beauty of something. Here, contestants were expected to flaunt themselves and their swimsuit attire using the provided props. This round, OCTILLERY had been brought out to either side of the stage to shower it in a torrent of water.

Perfect. An idea immediately sparked in Barnaby's mind when he saw these particular conditions.

Releasing his STARMIE, Evangeline, Barnaby allowed them to waddle ahead of him on the runway. They'd already choreographed their plan backstage, so as soon as their turn commenced the Pokémon acted right on cue!

Artificial rain from the OCTILLERY fell from the sky; instead of letting the water completely soak them, however, the STARMIE sprayed SCALD ahead of their walk, rending the cool droplets into an aesthetic mist. A reflective vapor immediately plumed around Barnaby like a STEAM ERUPTION.

Without missing a beat, Evangeline then summoned a COSMIC POWER to the stage, its prismatic light casting a multicolored effect onto the mist. The culmination of his Pokémon's efforts made it seem as if Barnaby himself was walking through a swathe of rainbow clouds.

Between the mist and the artificial rain provided by the OCTILLERY, droplets of water clung to his skin, making it look as if his entire body was adorned in jeweled beads in a kaleidoscope of colors. It made for quite the exquisite display as Barnaby concluded his strut down the runway.

Two intersecting streams of water mark the entrance of the next model, and with his name being Del Mar, it’s almost as if this had been designed with him in mind. It hadn’t, of course, but Mars is narcissistic enough to believe it had, and to him, no one’s opinion has ever mattered as much as his own.

A few people had had this idea before him, he’ll give them that, but there’s only one Martín del Mar, and so, this is how it goes:

In a flourish, he takes off his sunglasses with unquestionable flair, smirking at the audience. A step is taken, and the moment it is, he slides forward with the grace and balance of someone who makes both surfing and wakeboarding two of his favourite hobbies. Water continues to fall upon him, droplets making the abs that are a result of a strict gym schedule positively glisten.

The same golden Meowth as before jumps onto his back, having practised doing this without using its claws and causing harm. Clinging to Mars’ shoulder, its RAIN DANCE enhances the effect of the water being shot by the Octillery, leaving both the feline and its owner soaked in the process.

If this is about making it rain, there’s arguably no one better than POG Bank’s CEO to get the job done.

As if this had all been arranged (because it had), the momentum Mars had built up slows down as he reaches the end of the catwalk, managing to come to a full stop. His smirk is unfading, and it’s when he puts his sunglasses back on that golden coins join the drizzle. The Meowth – appropriately named Coin – causes dozens upon dozens of shimmering amulets to drop with its PAY DAY, appearing even sparkler thanks to the rain.

Mars winks. The crowd goes wild. Although some would perhaps question if it’s for the CEO or for the coins that rain down.
