Sierra nodded, her determination shining through. She glanced at Appletun, who gave her a reassuring nod, ready for the challenge ahead. Round 1 was good, but not good enough.  They were really going to have to bring their all if they wanted to win.  The clock started ticking, and they sprang into action.[break][break]

Sierra darted to the array of fruits, her eyes landing on a pile of ripe pomegranates. With a swift motion, she began extracting the jewel-like seeds, the rich red color promising a burst of flavor. Appletun joined in, using its tail to expertly slice open passion fruits, adding a tropical twist to their creation.[break][break]

The blender whirred to life once again as Sierra combined the fresh pomegranate seeds, passion fruit pulp, and a hint of honey for sweetness. Appletun infused its APPLE ACID, releasing a subtle aroma and fizz that hinted at the extraordinary concoction they were crafting.[break][break]

As Sierra poured the mixture into a dazzling cup, Appletun added its own touch of whimsy—tiny edible glittering stars that sparkled in the liquid like a galaxy in a cup. The crowd watched in awe as the bubble tea transformed into a celestial masterpiece.[break][break]

With seconds to spare, Sierra placed a crown of pomegranate seeds atop the creation. The final touch was a flourish of passion fruit foam, creating a visually stunning and delectable work of art.[break][break]

"Alright fruit, fruit. Think you got this Buttermilk?" The two of them turned around to go over their ingredients and the sound of a jar smashing caught Kaz's attention. Turning around he saw an Eevee of all things going to town on their table, taking in anything edible into its mouth, sucking it all up like it was a pink blob of destruction. "What the heeeaaaaaaaaaaah!" It took him a second to realize what he was looking at and soon jumped on the little creature.

Behind him Buttermilk was busy looking at their options for their next drink. Fruit flavor was pretty simple to make but they would need to do something a little bit different. Strawberry seemed to be a popular choice in the last round so it was unlikely it would be chosen again by the other contestants. At least that was the hope.

"Arceus damned furball-!"

The Alcremie picked up a banana and studied it. It reminded her the little fruit that a Tropius grew on its neck and if it remembered its facts right those were pretty sweet. A banana might not be as sweet but it definitely had flavor to it. Maybe mixing it with Strawberries would give them that original twist they were looking for!

"Ow! That's my finger you fu-!"

So they mixed together a blend of Strawberry boba pearls with some banana flavored milk with it. There was a little bit of an infusion of vanilla extract and some brown sugar to give it that even sweeter taste. After all nothing was too sweet.

"Get in there. You damn dirty! Evil! Gremlin!"

Kazimir slammed a pot that growled and was shaking in his grip onto the table as his Alcremie was putting the finishing touches with some more whipped cream on its concoction. As the camera crew approached them Kaz looked at the pot with the eevee belonging to and just tossed it at a random direction, hoping that some poor soul didn't get subjected to the hell he went through before turning to the camera.

"Hey there! This time around we got ah uh...wha-what do we got Buttermilk?" The little cream pokemon lifted up the scraps of a banana and straberry pearls along with a carton of milk. The clues were enough to give Kaz a good idea of what was going on. "Uh right, so we have a banana milk tea with some strawberry pearls! Strawberry 'n banana is always a favorite combo of mine so I really hope its a favorite of everyone else here! My buddy Buttermilk put her heart and soul into this recipie!" Meanwhile he put his sweat into shoving off a rabid gremlin onto someone else.

this would be a million times easier if he had an alcremie or an appletun... reese sighs to himself, lost in thought, barely realizing that the next round has started. his roserade tugs on his pant leg, bringing him back to reality. "o-oh! uh, right." he shakes his head and returns to his station to begin work once more.

this time, he's cutting up apple slices and placing them in the pot to reduce them to a gentle-flavored syrup. he's careful not to burn the slices, as he brews the tea needed for the rest of the drink. into the syrup goes a stick of cinnamon that breaks apart in the heat and gets absorbed into the apple syrup. from there, reese takes a vanilla bean and chops it up into fine particles, then sprinkles it over the syrup.

on the side, as the syrup simmers, he takes the pre-prepared brown sugar pearls and pours them into the bottom of the glass. he makes some sweet milk cold foam, whipping it up until it's frothy and creamy.

once the tea is done steeping, he pours it into the glass over the brown sugar pearls. next he cools down the syrup by pouring it into a container with ice cubes, and once it's cooled down enough he pours it over top the tea, mixing it with a spoon. on top goes the cold foam, with a sprinkle of cinnamon powder to finish it off.

"...this is my apple cinnamon tea with brown sugar pearls," they explain when they present it. "i hope you like it."

the competition sure is stiff! momo had thought that her last creation was quite possibly one of the tastiest treats she's ever concocted, but it's clear that some of the other competitors have blown the judges' minds with their delicious bubble teas. on the bright side, as momo waits between rounds, she spots some familiar faces within the crowd. she's pretty sure that's in the distance, him and bones working hard at making their tea! she'll definitely have to come over to him later and say hi when the time is right! [break][break]

and it's not just him, either. momo spots , and when it's the ranger's turn to show off in front of everyone, momo whoops loudly with a supportive "you go, big sis genny!" that gets mixed in with the cheer and the general noise of all the contestants around them. but once the judging of the first round is over, everyone focuses on their next challenge. [break][break]

using fruit. "this one's gonna be easy-peasy!" she tells rose, who chirps happily in tandem with its trainer. "hi everyone, momo again!" she giggles as the camera makes its way towards her, now, used to having such rapt attention on her. this is even easier than a traditional contest in a way! it feels more like hanging out with a bunch of friends than it does performing in front of others! she holds up a jar filled with cherry-red poultice and juice, and shows it off to the camera. "today, we're going to go all out on the cherry flavor! i brought some essence of a cherubi with me, juice and pulp made from its secondary fruity body! you might not know this, but cherubis store a lot of nutrients in the smaller part of its body! so this essence should be suuuuuper tasty and sweet!" [break][break]

rose the shiny polteageist laughs and spins in view of the camera, and does a few tricks in levitating the cooking utensils, floating a giant spoon to scoop out parts of the cherubi-flavored essence. on top of that, momo is also using real cherries, and cherry-flavored bubble tea base. it's an explosion of cherry flavor, but she knows to balance it with some other flavors, too. peaches (softer and sweeter than tart cherries), a bit of milk, and some mint leaves also go into the drink. to top it all off, momo uses peach blossoms and cherry stems as decorations, and a whole cherry sitting in the middle of it all. this screams fruit, sure, but does it also scream delicious? His concoction ended up being on the lower end. Which was a bit disheartening. But he was still doing better than some. Next was a fruit based one. Oh that made his ears perk up. The Bounsweet sweat! A fruit juice made of that as the base would be perfect! A caffiene free fruit based tea! Bones already snagged the watered down sweat already. Rummaging through the various other fruit, Ash settled on strawberry bursts of boba and some oranges. That should taste good...right? Should he also use some sort of syrup? He saw a few other people doing the same. Asher slowed down in trying to make it just to make sure he didn't make mistakes in the actual brewing. The fruit drink started off nicely, and the strawberry bursts of boba looked good in the liquid. Garnishing it with an orange slice and copying and added two cherries in the tea as well.

He opted not to use any syrup. The bounsweet sweat fruit drink thing should have enough sweetness to it. The rest of the fruit should blend pretty good, and the bursts could be good. He just hoped this turned out better than the last one. Bone picking the oranges didn't go unnoticed...some of the peels did look a little...charred. But hey, maybe that added flavor?

Chamomile assures the royal ambassador that it was partially his fault that he had done something wrong with the ingredient though the judges at her table would give Elise some tips on how make her taro bubble tea better. She takes their tips and gets to work on the next round being the creation of a bubble tea with an ingredient from a fruit or a vegetable looking Pokemon. Her shiny Polteageist butler helps her with getting the ingredients ready for their second go around.[break][break]

For the second round, Elise decides to make a banana flavored milk tea with orange flavored popping boba. The bananas were taken from a Tropius and each of those bananas from the bunch were very sweet from how she remembered getting some from her own. Both the butler and his mistress mix together the banana flavored milk tea and the popping boba, so they can get the judges to taste it.[break][break]

Maybe they won’t mess it up this round.[break][break]

A sweet sight. To see , and here. Or the one woman she keeps running into , and wow she hadn't seen , and in awhile. How long it'd been since she'd seen some of them... it was nice.[break][break]

Genny's first round isn't the best. A little too experimental, but can't be helped. First time really making bubble tea. When she tastes it herself... her face goes blue.[break][break]

Yup. Definitely too much. Okay...[break][break]

With the next round given a fruity flavoring, Genny gets another chance, and nothing beats Tropius bananas, right? Ever since moving to Lilycove, Genny really enjoyed them. So, with a smile on her face, she goes to get her ingredients. Some pearls, sugar, water, Tropius bananas, milk, vanilla ice cream...[break][break]

First the pearls. After dissolving some sugar in some water on a boil, and cooking the dried tapioca balls, she infuses them with the simple syrup, while at the same time, getting a blender filled with frozen Tropius bananas, milk, ice cream, and ice. Once again, Sherwood is in charge.[break][break]

And that little Treecko is once again at the rodeo.[break][break]

Then. As she mixes the tapioca balls once they're done, into the banana milk concoction...[break][break]

"Banana Milk Bubble Tea! From the bananas of Tropius themselves!" She presents to the judges, holding her two cups for the judges, and one for herself. Surely, she did better this round, no?[break][break]

Sherwood looked like she was on her last legs, collapsing on top of the blender.[break][break]

Oscar accepted the praise of the judges with grace, and after the new challenge was given he would make his way back to his work station without urgency. As soon as he was behind the counter, Oscar would grab some of the spare aprons hanging on the wall and bundle them up into a ball. He then carefully stuffed his face into the bundle, and let out a scream that was muffled into near silence.

Once he was finished he would dump the aprons on the ground, just in time for Boris to arrive. Oscar laced his fingers together as the thought aloud, "We just did the only fuckin' fruit tea I know. I knew we should have done taro first, damn it." Oscar raised a finger to his chin and pressed it as he considered his options, with Boris taking some initiative while his master was distracted. The utensils they used last time were washed, and once the blender was dry Oscar would arrive to the counter with a bag of lemons in hand.

He dumped the bag out and grabbed two lemons. "Alright this should turn out okay but who knows I'm free fallin' over here. Peel this." He tossed a lemon to Boris, and after briefly struggling to catch it the mighty dragon would begin daintily peeling the skin off of the fruit. Meanwhile Oscar began brewing some green tea made from Alolan Exeggutor leafs. The minty flavor was sure to compliment the sour lemons. When the tea was done he would toss the brew in the blender along with a splash of milk, just in time for Boris to finish peeling the second lemon.

Both lemons were thrown in, and the whole concoction was blended together into a singular fluid. When it was done Oscar would pour some lemon crystal pearls into the bottom of the presentation cup before filling it up with the lemony tea mix. He topped the cup and hurriedly brought his entry before the judges. After placing it before them, he would nod his head and step back.

"It's a lemon-mint milk tea with citrus flavored crystal pearls. Enjoy it."

First round was personal favorites. Second round is something a smidge harder: fruit and vegetable. Mint taps his finger to his chin, while his Froslass crossed her arms in thought before the pair look at each other, seemingly coming up with an idea together. [break][break]

"Unfortunately, Agretti, my adorable and 2 time consecutive badge winner, Tropius, can't be with me on stage buuut I'm sure he would approve of our wildly refreshing concoction." he said grinning at the judges and audience.

Mint is once again, as he always is when performing, cheerful and jaunty. "This next pairing I lean towards on particularly hot days where I need something light, but still just as sweet." He said as his partner began retrieving ingredients to toss into their cup. [break][break]

Like before there's a small dance that accompanies the round as well as Mint talking through their process. "Tomato is such a great fruit flavor. It's citrusy and a little floral." he said tossing a couple in the air in a quick juggle before catching one to peel and take a bite out of. Casual as ever as his Frosslass finishes up her side of the work. "Mix it in with oolong tea and you get something perfectly sweet, refreshing, and healthy." he said holding up a cup of freshly brewed tea handed to him by his partner. [break][break]

"Honey boba make a great addition to any drink but if you want to elevate your experience taste and aesthetic wise, lemon infused popping pearls are the way to go." he said as he showed off a bowl of clear and lightly yellow pearls in a bowl after setting their drink to seal and mix. "The mix of sweet and sour are a balm on those sunburnt recovery kind of days." he said as the machine finished mixing his bright red and yellow drink with crystalline pearls as the bottom. Like before, he presents his drink with flourish, showing off to the audience before setting it down with a boba straw for judgement.

Perfection. Exactly what Mirabella thrived for she looked at rivals there was something easily to outmatch then others. She knew her leading in first place could be so easily taken away. so she would step up her game if she wanted to remain the top dog. The race was on!. "Fruit...you say. I will give you all a little savory sweet then."

After a moment out she washes out her utensils and pans. Mocha seemed disinterested but the aid helped her human by making the sweetest sugar. Strictly a business deal but to the crowd was nothing but a gentle exchange. "Well isn't she the sweetest thing."


The twisted Alcremie just stared at the comment while Mirabella simply spoke onward to keep the crowd's attention drawn to her. "It's Autumn, is it not? Everyone loves pumpkin for the holidays as pie, explore little patches with their children even pumpkin spice latte however as bubble tea that is another thing entirely.” In all honesty she would never even think of those but that was the fun part.



"Now what to used? Oh these would nicely." She gathered her ingredients, Tapioca pearls, Pumpkin Spice, brown sugar, pumpkin pie Syrup, pumpkaboo, heavy cream, and black tea bags. She had never tried to use pokemon in dish but there was first time for everything.



She first cut up the pumpkaboo add into the a pan with normal and brown sugar then added it into a blender to make some fresh puree. Then she added half of the Tapioca pearls use planned to used this round to a pot to boiling with a lid over them. Then a small boiling pot, she whisk the brown sugar until the water dissolves. Mocha added her sugar even so often because she let like it however Mirabella didn't play it any mind.

It would eventually water everything behind a rich brown syrup. It was simple but smell so sweet almost if it was candy. The redhead poured the remained pearls she had left them to marinate for a bit.

"Now the tea i prefer green or earl grey are my personal favorite however black tea will use to make we don't have too sweetness. There always needs to be a balance." While she began to brew to the tea she could help noticing 's dance. Lord it wasn't bad...just painful. He really should stick to his day job of being a rocket beast. 

Mocha snouted a silent signal that her pearls were done and Mirabella cope them out and set aside to dry. She pour the syrup and pumpaboo puree into a blender added some heavy cream and. Finally everything was done! Divided the pearls and black tea added the pumpkin cream and a little pumpkin spice on the top. She was ready to see what the judges had to say about this now. "Pumpkin Spice Bubble Tea! For you taste bud to enjoy!"

Jack clapped politely and Watts tapped his feet excitedly on the floor as the standings after the first round were announced. I'm sleeping with one of the judges and I didn't even make the top ten. Jack feigned a hurt look toward before winking as he turned back to his station.[break][break]

Glancing at his options, he wondered idly if lemon was considered a fruit before beginning to brew a citrus tea as Watts sniffed around in the ingredients area. The kettle was whistling when the Boltund returned with a packet of pomegranate popping bubbles. Jack smiled at the pokemon as he took the packet, unsure if Watts knew some secret to boba flavors or just liked the smell of pomegranate.[break][break]

Feeling uncertain, he mixed the tea with some simple syrup, ice, and the bubbles before shaking vigorously and heading to the judging area.[break][break]

He wasn’t at the very top of the pile, but the mix he’d come up with hadn't done too terribly, either! That was a confidence boost for sure. It at least helped in the arena of his flavor combinations. Though when the next round’s focus came up, Lam sighed. “We shoulda saved that one for this round, huh?” Artichoke shrugs his good wing as if to say What can ya do? Clearly he wasn’t too concerned.[break][break]

Lam taps his chin as he deliberates what route to go down. “How ‘bout we go for some warm, fall flavors for the season?” And what better tea to brew for crisp, cool autumn day than a good, spicy chai?[break][break]

Setting up the tea to brew and the boba to soften, he ducks back to the ingredients station for a few different fruits and flavors that he’s certain will blend well with the warmer spices of the drink[break][break]

“Keep an eye on the boba for me, my dude,” Lam calls to the decidueye as he peels and chops up some golden figs to dump in the little food processor at his station along with some sugar and a teeny bit of vanilla syrup. Artie hoots with utmost seriousness as he fixes wide amber eyes on the warm pot of soaking tapioca pearls—soft and tacky and brown sugared.[break][break]

The strength of the spicy kick from the chai is mixed with a creamy blend of coconut milk and extract, then swirled with the fig purée. The thicker consistency makes the drink a bit heartier as it’s poured over the fresh boba and ice. Before he seals it off, though, he tops the drinks with some freshly shaved and toasted coconut flakes. Like it had come right from an alolan exeggcutor, no less! A subtle callback to his home region. [break][break]

Both good fruits to match with chai, but good together? He’s never tried it, actually.[break][break]

“Can’t go wrong with a good chai,” he chirps as he plops the finished product down for the judges to evaluate—fingers crossed the fig does bode well with the coconut as well.

"everyone's going for bananas..."

kyle relays his observation to his obstagoon as he returns to his station with a batch of fresh tropius fruits. he lays them down on the table for his pokemon to prepare.

"oh, well. let's just do our own thing."

the pokemon carefully peels each fruit with its abnormally large claws. although it is done with precision as to not hurt the flesh of the fruit, kyle haphazardly shoves them into the blender anyways. it was all going to turn into mush anyways.

next in goes his chocolate and the vanilla extract. the childish comforts flavors are somehow his favorite when it comes to sweet drinks, such as this boba tea.

when he finishes, he looks at the rest of the competition. before he decides he should be worrying, he shrugs it off. instead, he looks around to steal techniques for drinks that he can make at home later or tomorrow.

So she hadn't managed to wow the judges in the first round.[break][break]

But that's okay! She didn't do terribly either, so as far as Luka sees it, the contest is still fair game. And she has a few tricks up her sleeve that will hopefully help turn this round around![break][break]

Fruit flavors are her favorite after all, so there's a few go-to recipes already in her arsenal. When she whispers her ideas to Cupcake, her Clefable nods and happily toddles off with her to go and gather the correct ingredients.[break][break]

"Phew!" When the attention lands on her, Luka makes a show of wiping her brow, gesturing to the array of supplies in front of her. "We've got a lot going on! I hope you're excited to see what we're going to make— I know I sure am!"[break][break]

She smiles and gives a cutesy wink, appearing totally unphased by her middling first round. While Cupcake starts brewing a simple green tea, she begins chopping up fresh peaches, tongue poking out of her lips in concentration. Her knife skills aren't the best, so they're cut rather unevenly...but that doesn't matter. It's all getting blended up anyways![break][break]

Somewhere along the line, she notices a glance from and returns the look with a bright smile. It's always nice to see another friendly (and super adorable) face![break][break]

"Uwah...gosh, that smells so good!" she gushes to Cupcake when the tea is finished brewing. The tea, her peaches, and a generous amount of ice are added to a blender, along with some milk and a spoonful of honey. "Ehe, that's right! We're making a smoothie!"[break][break]

Luka hums as she adds a scoop of boba to the bottom of a clear glass and pours the tea smoothie on top. A little sprig of mint is added to the top of glass, along with a drizzle of fresh honey. Viola![break][break]

"As sweet as a Bounsweet, and made with fresh Combee honey...I-I hope you enjoy this peach tea smoothie!" she announces once it's her turn to present her drink. This time, just a hint of nerves come through in her voice...perhaps she's a bit worried that this drink will have a lackluster reaction too.[break][break]

EXPOSITION


THE BUBBLE TEA BREWING SHOWDOWN IS UNDERWAY! As the second round commences, the mouth-watering smell of perfectly ripe fruit fills the kitchen with sweet, tart, citrusy, and juicy aromas. Tropius and the Applin line are particularly popular, bringing both tropical and comfortingly autumnal flavors to several brews.[break][break]

When the round is over, beams delightedly at everyone's completed drinks and tastes them with evident pleasure and pride. "I'm so happy seeing everyone working so hard and with so much dedication and love for bubble tea! Everyone's work has been so lovely so far, it's been difficult to pick a favorite.[break][break]

"But in the end, we decided..." And with that, she and the other judges offer their feedback and findings. They broke into a veritable show of applause for ’s lemon-mint milk tea with citrus-flavored crystal pearls, especially for the refreshing herbal note of mint. ’s Tropius banana vanilla ice cream bubble tea was pronounced a triumph as well in its balance of sweetness and fruit.[break][break]

The autumnal flavors of ’s apple cinnamon bubble tea with brown sugar pearls also received high praise. 's eye-catching dance does make the audience burst into cheering and clapping, though his tomato-based brew with lemon-infused popping pearls receives only middling scores. The judges do look a little askance at for his frugal approach, with one judge urging the archaeologist to ”live a little and experiment with different ingredients!”[break][break]

Next, after throwing a sympathetic smile at , Aurelie walks to the front of the kitchen once more. "Well done, everyone, on your amazing drinks! It’s so nice to see everyone laying aside their differences for the sake of delicious bubble tea."[break][break]

Then she clears her throat and announces with an enthusiastic grin, "And now… From fruits, the theme for the next round is flowers! Give us your best floral-flavored bubble teas![break][break]

"Jasmine, lavender, rose, chrysanthemum, cherry blossom, chamomile, hibiscus... Pick your favorite! Just make sure the flower is an important flavor in your bubble tea!" Then her eye lights up and she adds, "And let us know what your favorite flower is too, whether for brewing, cooking, or just enjoying in nature or a bouquet."[break][break]

With that, Xiura delicately claps her hands together. "And now, everyone... On your marks, get set, and brew!"
