They didn't end up doing so well with their previous concoction. Something had been awry with the mixture. Regardless, Herschel and Remiel are determined to do better this time. There was still some time to bounce back. They could still sway the judges to grant them great scores.[break][break]

At the mention of the prompt, however, Remiel's confidence takes a hit. Floral boba? He'd only ever heard of such things. He'd never tasted a floral boba before. Turning to the green Applin on the counter, he sighs. "I'll be trusting you here. I'd suggest a HYDRANGEA, but I don't think they'd taste very good..."[break][break]

Herschel, in the meantime, tries to reassure his trainer with a happy grin in his eyes. It then rolls over to the ingredient room, conducting multiple trips back and forth before fully collecting everything they need. With a little help (and creativity) from the exiled prince, they end up brewing a LAVENDER & EARL GREY boba that they soon present to the judges.[break][break]

Oh, yay![break][break]
It’s not a showstopper by any means, but Luka’s tea seems to have gone over with the judges much better this round. That means there’s still hope for her- she’s not out of the running yet![break][break]
For this round, she and Cupcake take their time in deciding what kind of flower to use. Lavender? Chamomile? Rose? They’ve been playing around with sweeter, fruitier flavors so far, so the gentle taste of a floral tea should be quite refreshing. But there’s so many to choose from![break][break]
Eventually, the pair settles on some sakura blossom tea. Cherry blossoms are one of Luka’s favorite flowers; sweetly delicate, and a charming reminder of spring. And their soft pink hue matches her aesthetics exactly![break][break]
Humming happily, the pair returns to their station and gets to work. The sakura tea has a soft, subtle flavor, so this time Luka doesn’t try to overwhelm it with a lot of other flavors. She only adds a bit of milk and sugar, with just a dash of pink food coloring for the aesthetics. She adds the color and cherry boba to the bottom of the cup, so once the milk tea is poured overtop, it creates a soft and pretty gradient effect in the boba.[break][break]
As she works, she has another look around at the competition. So many people working hard…it really is lovely to see! Idly, she glances over at Remiel Calcifet’s station, and notes with a bit of smug satisfaction that her score is higher than his.[break][break]
But that’s not the point. Back to tea![break][break]
”In the springtime, there’s nothing nicer than the scent of cherry blossoms on the wind,” she explains as she garnishes the tea with a few sakura petals that Cupcake had found. ”For this round, we wanted to try and invoke that feeling in our tea! Another successful round. As Oscar returned to his workspace he struggled to not feel overconfident. He still had a long way to go, there was plenty of time for things to fall apart if he was not careful. Oscar took a good minute to consider his options, and in the end there was only one idea that stood out to him.

Oscar snapped his fingers, "I need the hibiscus tea mix." Boris nodded and grabbed the designated jar. Oscar prepped the tea to be brewed, and just as before Boris took the initiative to clean out the blender. When everything was ready, Oscar added the tea and a little bit of cream. Then he added the main ingredient: rose water. The rose was his favorite flower, so it made sense to utilize it for this floral tea.

After mixing the concoction together, Oscar prepped a cup with strawberry pearls. The tea was poured into the cup and Oscar would hurriedly transport it to the judge's table. He placed it before them and nodded stoically. "A rose water hibiscus tea with strawberry pearls. Consume."

"let's just mix everything, alright?"

his pokemon looks uneasy with the suggestion brought by the trainer. it scratches its chin with one of its giant claws since it's all it can do. it cannot really say no given that it cannot talk, nor would the trainer accept a no.

perhaps the mightyena were right, the obstagoon thinks to itself. maybe they really were just spoiling kyle too much.

the process wasn't the most charming, nor was it the most methodological. they really just crammed all the flowers they can on a blender and brewed it for their tea.

EXPOSITION

The sweet, nectarous scent of flowers now fills the kitchen as the contestants experiment with floral concoctions that can be both alluring and appetizing. While some, like Asher Baran, seemed to find the floral concept boring, others like Kazimir Wynter and Remiel Calcifet seemed to find it novel and intriguing to make flowers and herbs the main star of a bubble tea drink. A veritable bouquet of different flowers ended up being used, from roses and jasmine to lavender, hibiscus, butterfly pea flowers, and...an Eevee?[break][break]

By round's end, all the drinks were brewed and assembled on the judges' table, presenting a lovely rainbow of colors ranging from blush-pink and bright purple to emerald-green and even turquoise-blue. The judges taste each drink with the gravity of arbiters in a courtroom, making notes and discussing the merits of each in low tones.[break][break]

Marguerite receives rave reviews for her blending of two different floral flavors in her jasmine hibiscus bubble tea with popping boba, mingling sweetness and tartness in a simple, elegant brew. Mirabella Fontaine and luka chêne also receive praise for their pastel-pink brews using rose petals and sakura blossoms, respectively. One judge particularly salutes the Lilycove Gym Leader, lam logan, for his soothing, harmonious brew of matcha chamomile tea with oat milk and vanilla syrup.[break][break]

The judges also applaud mint frost for his graceful and eye-catching performances, noting that they've never seen bubble tea made with such flair and pizzazz. After glancing askance at kyle lopez's throwing several flowers in a blender, pureeing them, and serving it with boba pearls,the judges sample the result and, to their own surprise, deem it fairly reasonable. The judges look even more askance at howard slayte and take tiny, gingerly, tentative sips of his "Eevee-flavored tea with flowers in it" with the smallest teaspoon they can find, only to find it was actually edible. And no one died afterward from drinking it, either.[break][break]

Then a smiling Aurelie Lefevre walks back to the front of the kitchen and raises the microphone to her lips. "Thank you so much for all your efforts! I loved watching you all venturing down the garden path for this round. For the next round, you could say we're staying in that garden theme, but...a slightly different type of garden."[break][break]

With a broad smile, she elaborates, "For the next round, take inspiration from vegetable gardens. We'd like to see you brew up an amazing savory bubble tea recipe with vegetable flavors as the main star. Peas, carrots, spinach, beets...use your imagination!"

"vegetables," mar murmured thoughtfully. a few of her bobas had already been green in color, but she liked it. she knew she wanted cabbage to be the base and had capsakid grab some. but...

she wanted to be adventurous.

cabbage served as the base, but she chose to complement the base flavors with salt. she poured it over the regular tapioca pearls, then blended kelp in with cream to make a foam for the top. it was unconventional, but the natural hint of salt from the sea-gathered kelp would work with the savory cabbage. it represented mar more than anything else she'd created, bringing in those seaside elements. capsakid looked far less confident about the blend, but mar wanted to produce interesting drinks far more than conventional ones. "cabbage is me favorite vegetable," she mused aloud, "but a little seaside fun belongs in this here drink." she was more pleased with those boba than any before, happily presenting it.

making boba with vegetables is going to be a touch more difficult. for this, reese chose ginger, a fan-favorite of cold remedies among the more eastern regions. he grates the ginger into some water, bringing the water to a boil. this time his roserade helps him by making the milk and sugar concoction beforehand; reese adds a dash of pure maple syrup to freshen up and sweeten the flavor. he brings the water down below a boil, then pours a ginger tea mixture into his strainer and lets it steep.

"my babysitter when i was little used to love ginger tea," they say conversationally as they work. they've gotten a little more used to being up on the stage again. it helps that they're not expected to do anything too strenuous. "the smell still reminds me of her, so i always have a box laying around somewhere."

once the tea is done steeping, he pours the ginger and tea mixture through a fine strainer, sorting out the grated ginger so none of it ends up in the tea. boba is added to the bottom of the cup, and the ginger milk tea is poured over top. reese mixes it up until it's slightly frothy, and then presents it to the judges, hoping it's sweet but not too sweet.

The Eevee blinked as he landed perfectly and amazingly and very cutely on Tempest's shoulder, just in time for the camera to turn to the man as he looked over his ingredients for the prompt.[break][break]

"Hm? Savory or sweet?" Tempest glanced up at the person who asked the question behind the camera. Hati's chin was given a good scratch as he answered, the Eevee chattering nicely and leaning into the touch like an affectionate cat might. "Oh, I actually really hate sweets. I really only eat fruit if I want 'sweet' things. Savory stuff is good, though. I really like baked fish and roasted vegetables."[break][break]

A smile was given. The interviewer turned the camera towards another right as Hati hopped off of Temp's shoulder.[break][break]

When the camera was off of them, Hati sought out his next target.[break][break]

The table next to Tempest belonged to... oscar clayton. Currently in the top three and narrowing the gap to number one.[break][break]

Could he keep it up with the Eevee getting in his way?[break][break]

They would find out. Like the hellion he was, Hati hopped over to Oscar's station and began to try and eat whatever it was he was working on, like the true gluttonous menace he was.[break][break]

Meanwhile, Tempest made something terrible.[break][break]

"Vegetables? No taro?" Muttered.[break][break]

Like, a fucking protein shake kind of deal?[break][break]

Shrugging, Tempest grabbed some raw spinach to wash off. After it was cleaned up, he threw it in the blender. Added some milk. The chunky gloop that came out was watered down with more milk....[break][break]

Some plain boba in the bottom. Some more milk on top of that. Then the green spinach mix.....[break][break]

It was radiation in a cup.

Brows furrowed in slight disgust. A vegetable tea...? Was the judge sure about that? Schuyler grimaced a bit as he tried to flip through the book for some sort of ideas. The book didn't even recommend anything. The only thing he could think to even bother trying was to combine a dish with boba pearls. And like that, he took to carefully chopping tomatoes, garlic cloves, a bell pepper, and an onion. The tomatoes and garlic were blended thoroughly with some black tea. The idea itself disgusted him but hey, they needed tea to actually be suitable, right?

The tomato juice and tea concoction was carefully poured over boba pearls and topped with the other variety of vegetables. A celery stalk accompanied the abomination as garnish as Schuyler scrunched his nose up at his own creation: it seemed like a bastardized gazpacho infused with tea and boba pearls. Well, this is what the judges asked for...

"Are cucumbers a vegetable?" Jack asked Watts uncertainly. He felt sure that they were, but in a vague sort of way. He knew it was a salad ingredient and you could pickle them like other vegetables, so that settled it in Jack's mind.[break][break]

After sending Watts to pick up ingredients, Jack brewed a cucumber green tea and simmered up some mint simple syrup. Mixing that together vigorously with some ice and boba pearls, Jack proudly garnished the edge of the cup with a thin slice of cucumber. For added flair, he slapped some mint in his palms before dropping it into the cup as well.[break][break]

Feeling confident while presenting his beverage, Jack explained, "I prefer sweet stuff to eat but really, I'll eat anything." He winked suggestively at Xiura Balfaltin. She might not give him extra points for being irresistibly witty and charming, but she probably wouldn't deduct any either. Probably.[break][break]

His boba tea was average. Not too surprising. The theme for the next one was a vegetable garden. What? Were they trying to make this as difficult as possible for younger people?! Whatever, taro was an obvious choice. Combined with green tea, then add in some sweet potato balls, normal milk...and maybe that was it? Was Asher overthinking this? Maybe a little bit of tomato juice helps with flavor. A small taste test was interesting. The red head very much favored sweeter drinks. Perhaps not too surprising considering he was a kid. He still gave Momo Sakai a shaky thumbs up. This round and last round were...confusing, eye opening, and he had no idea how they made any Pokemon look cool, cute, beautiful, tough, or smart. At least his mixture didn't look like radiation in a cup...that one guy's...mess made him want to vomit...

It's... definitely better than her first attempt, but missing the mark by a wide margin. Genny stared at the coconut, and realized how it just seemed to be between alright and not good. Mid. And it has her back at the drawing board. She's not hitting those high numbers, not at all. But seeing lam logan and Momo Sakai up there so effortlessly has her grinning. Heck, even luka chêne seemed to attract many eyes. Genny's included![break][break]

If thinking out the box was losing her the contest, she'd go even further. Heading to the fridge, she pulled out..... roma tomatoes? And tomato juice. And an ice shaker, beginning to add oolong tea, a cordial of simple syrup added with tea, preparing the tapioca balls as she added lemon juice, and some sugar syrup. Cutting the roma tomato, she intended to create an earthy flavor to the tea.[break][break]

If she was going to win, she had to think more out of the box.[break][break]

Sherwood would be the one to use that cocktail shaker, preparing it all together, as Genny got a nice roma tomato wheel to put in.[break][break]

And then, like that... it was done(?) She had no idea if it was good, but a taste test and she was satisfied. As much as one could be. The good news? It definitely doesn't taste like Heinz Ketchup. It was more savory than sweet, which wasn't her go to. But maybe... maybe it would work.[break][break]

LLike the first round, their floral bubble tea with Roselia hip flavors fell off though being given tips by the judges from the first round would make the royal ambassador and her butler try again. Hearing the prompt come from the host herself, it was a vegetable flavor that could turn her skills around. “I am going to have to count on you for making this tea delicious, Chamomile.” She spoke to her butler as he gives her a little salute with his kettle lid and gets to work with bringing out the main ingredient.[break][break]

That main ingredient of their tea would be sweet corn when Elise blends it in the tea itself. The shiny Polteageist helps to mix the mixture and the milk tea together along with adding the passion fruit flavored boba bubbles inside the sweet corn milk tea, a drink that she'd love to taste herself since Elise loved cooking her own sweet dishes in the kitchen. She was sure that the tea itself would be better than the last round’s…over following the tips the judges gave her anyway.[break][break]

vegetables? that had certainly been a difficult one... and no taro, too. but that's alright, because momo decides then and there that she'll go for an orange vegetable! "rose, what do you think? carrot or pumpkin?" [break][break]

her shiny polteageist hovers near, rubbing its spectral chin with tiny hands as it considers the choice between two delicious veggies. ultimately, it points at the round gourd, and momo giggles at its choice. "nice! let's go with this one, then!" and her pokemon uses shell smash on one of the smaller pumpkins to break the gourd open. meanwhile, momo measures the proper ingredients, a chilled bowl of activated bubbles for the bubble tea sitting on the counter.[break][break]

throughout the contest, momo has been able to see some familiar faces, and uses this time between cooking and mixing to acknowledge them. she returns asher baran's thumbsup with one of her own, and grins at big sis genny despite the latter's rather... interesting concoction. nevertheless, momo's support for others and herself remains strong, and when it's her turn to showcase the bubble tea creation, she smiles wide. "hi there! for this round's theme, i'm going to use pumpkin as the main ingredient! my plan here is to use cream and sugar to offset the pumpkin's natural flavor, and make something like a pumpkin pie bubble tea drink! we'll use regular milk-tea as the base, with loooots of whipped cream and graham cracker crumbles, too!" [break][break]

to momo, the drink sounds delicious, but it had all been up to the judges' opinions. so far, it seems that the coordinator's tastes run a little too sweet for their tastes, but hopes that the classic flavor of pumpkin pie (with an emphasis on the pumpkin, of course) will win them over this time! [break][break]

Now once again she was back on top and was pleased however there no letting what might transpired in this round. It seems the judges had a death wish if they wasn't everyone to make vegetable bubble tea. This was her joke round where she was going to try be extremely creative. Mirabella might worst score for this round but at the moment that was the last thing on the girl's mind.

She combined cabbage, asparagus, beets, celery, and broccoli into a vegetable broth, while making her tapioca pearls as she normally did but this time to add a bit of rainbow jelly just to give a little bit power. Now the tea was to be served! The judges would surely get a kick of this one no doubt. "For a vegetable bubble tea I simply just one vegetable so I used many. I prefer savory to sweet but don't tell Mocha."
