Somehow, he had a feeling bad things were going to happen if he kept Lanval out any longer… and promptly recalled the spectral Typhlosion back before anything too crazy happened.

Now they were talking; they were making sense—he nodded her way.

“And you keep that scarf on. I’m mostly fine without it, but you? After what happened the last time we went down to Shoal Cave? Yeah, I’m not allowing anyone else to get frostbite further on my watch!”

He then shuffled around in his pockets, trying to look for—aha, there we go.

One swap later and Vesta the Volcarona was now out on the field; the Volcarona’s large wings fluttering in a Fiery Dance to keep the area where they were as warm as possible.

“Help injured out first, attack when opening presents itself—yeah, that sounds like a solid plan,” he nodded; before looking around and—huh. Was that…

He thought he saw someone wearing a Hydreigon Sygna Suit amongst the mess—and he didn’t want to risk it too much, however the alarm bells were already going off in his head—

“Andrea?!” he called out over the roaring cold; squinting ahead and hoping his guess was right. “Are you okay over there?! Need any help?!” he added; before turning back to face cousin dearest—

“Hey!” he yelped a few moments later.

“Are you saying that they’re being a sissy?!”

The Sygna Suited girl heard a familiar voice calling out to her over the raging blizzard. It was none other than , and was with him too. It looked like Hoenn's finest had gathered for the big clash against the creator of the Silent Icelands.

"Hi, Mr. Lars! Hi, Eli!" The draconic cosplayer jovially waved back at the two cousins with her sock puppet of an arm. "I'm OK! Donna's got this!" She hollered right as her Rhyperior fired a second wave of Rock Blasts from the holes in its palms.

There's no need for words. Baki steps from the back of her trusted Tsutsuji just as she begins to fall. Ice-encrusted wings weigh the dragon down and she urges her master to go on, though the girl's heart breaks for it. She doesn't dare look back, pulling another ball from her waist. She hisses, and the Zorua puts up a stealth field. He floats alongside her, staring up at the Djinn. It hasn't noticed her yet, and with her Zorua's illusion, it might not yet. [break][break]

As the blizzard continued to blanket the vicinity around KYUREM, it was a feat in and of itself just to remain upright atop GENESECT in such slick, icy conditions. managed it because of his extensive physical training — but ? He was surprised the grunt had held on this long.[break][break]

Perhaps he was finally settling in to the chaos and unpredictable nature of battle.[break][break]

Now locked onto HOOPA, GENESECT gathered energy and then released a powerful ZAP CANNON. The beam of pure electric energy flashed across the darkened fields, briefly revealing the forms of people and Pokémon alike, all fighting desperately against this communal threat.

It was working! What they were doing was working. It seemed endless, but with the ice-type's attention split between the Gym Leaders, other brave fighters, and Hoopa, they would have a good chance. High above the air and out of range of the hands, Nala's mane glowed as bright as the inside of her mouth, ready to spew FLAMETHROWER all over as many hands as her trajectory lined up with. Josh was ready too, the rider taking a deep breath of his own, making sure that his comms were off this time.

Once he was within range of the Boopa, he turned toward what he believed to be the Pokémon's ear and screamed his lungs out, his HYPER VOICE echoing throughout the Icelands. It would have sounded like a rallying war cry amplified through loudspeakers. If there was an Avatar of Pyroar in Hoenn, he was it. With owning so many of them, his powers shifted as he shifted among his ten royal lions.

Just as he landed, a dimensional ring appeared in front of Nala, a barrage of hands emerging from it: HYPERSPACE FURY. It took only one blow to tear the Gym Leader from the saddle. While he was twirling through the air, the next thing he heard was a loud impact, followed by a loud and desperate-sounding roar. He groaned, landing on his shoulder as he slid across the ice and into Simba, another of his Pyroar. When he came to, he was surrounded by almost all of his lions. All except one.

Nala was missing.

"Nala?" Josh cried, looking for a sign of the queen of his pride. She was nowhere to be found, and all the others were around the Gym Leader. "Nala?!" he cried all the louder, to no response. Simba's keen vision caught a grotesque sight from where Josh had slid, the lion weeping. "Simba, what is it?" he asked. All he could do was point a paw at the sight that made him cry. The Master of Faster took a seat on the crying lion and rubbed his fur to try to console him. The extra height let him see why Simba was so distraught. At the end of the lane of cleared snow was half of a female Pyroar head with its eyes wide open, looking straight up at the sky. There appeared to be no wound and no blood. No weapon could make a cut that clean, blood or no. It was as though the rest of the Pokémon's body had its very existence denied in an incomprehensible way. He wailed and wept alongside his steed, devastated he lost not just one of his lions, but one of his fastest ones.

"NAAAAAAAAAALAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!"

Somehow, he's managed to avoid Unbound Hoopa's pot shots at everyone. While his pokemon tries to deflect and attack the source of the fists, Neon is busy observing the speed at which it attacks. Not just because of how many arms it had, but he wondered if the portals were speeding up the punches as well. [break][break]

His handheld had long since had it's volume turned down. The various amounts of energy it was detecting making the device warm up and beep erratically nonstop. It's a good and bad this had to happen. At least he could try to glean something out of the aftermath. He sighs in relief when and reunite before putting his attention on the fight and trying to take cover form there. "I still think offering Hoopa something might calm it down!" he shouted. "If it's made some sort of deal with the league during METENO, and now it seems to have made a deal with Kyurem, then we might be able to broker something!" he offered, trying to gather a list of resources a legendary may want. Though, it's probably impossible to communicate with it at this distance, and at this rate, he'd rather not risk getting punched mid flight.

The laser from startled her Glastrier into neighing loudly, and without warning, Elisabeth felt herself catapulting away from him and the mysterious woman by his side.[break][break]

It didn't seem the worst decision, in retrospect, given the constant turmoil going on around her. Thankfully, the blast hadn't struck her, she supposed.[break][break]

"What would Hoopa even want?" Elisabeth asked in response to on the communications, frowning as she watched its hands grab at nearby friends and foes alike. "A deal would mean that we have something it wants."[break][break]

Her emerald eyes scanned the premises, thinking, before she voiced an idea aloud.[break][break]

"It clearly wants Kyurem, no? Is there something we can broker there?"[break][break]

That was all she had time to say before one of the hands lurched for her, and the CHILLING NEIGH that erupted from her Glastrier made the laser seem like child's play as both the woman and her Pokemon were cast into the snow.

Her attack lands, repelling one of Hoopa's fists back. However the sheer power of this move was overwhelming, where did such strength come from? Is this the REAL power of hoopa after it's been released from it's confines? How did one even imprison such a powerful force in the first place? [break][break]

There had to be a method, a move perhaps? Maybe even a pokemon. There were too many mysteries surrounding both of the creatures before them and frighteningly little answers. [break][break]

Her Rhyperior attempted to shield the tiny mythical from the next attack with its large body, only for a second punch to knock out the beefy Ground-type. “Oh no, Donna!”

And yet, ’s Pyroar met an even worse fate at the hands of the evil djinn. The Mauville Gym Leader’s wail of grief was heart-wrenching to hear. “Josh… It’s okay, it’s not your fault…” Andrea muttered under her breath. If only her voice could reach him.

“HAVEN’T YOU DONE ENOUGH, YOU TWO?!” The young woman yelled at the legendary duo, tears cascading her face only to be frozen by the cold. “HOW MANY MORE LIVES WILL YOU HAVE TO TAKE BEFORE YOU’RE HAPPY?!”

Instead of an answer, the White Kyurem gave her another cryptic prophecy.

Heroes must return clay giants. Space will mend while time continues to bend.

Or at least that’s what it sounded like.

when hands start popping out of portals and striking at them, priam quickly grabs his espeon and runs with it.

"we need to keep moving, espy! move, move, move!"

staying in place meant they'll be easy targets should one appear right in front of them. at least staying in motion will make it easy for them to keep the momentum up in case they need to outmaneuver one of hoopa's arms.

as the psychic-type hitches a ride from its trainer's arms, it continues to fire off its attacks. hidden power blasts through any of the appendages that come out of the rings.

In the moment before a golden ring opens, Navy thinks he is doing alright. Above him are other dragon riders, people mad enough to charge their mount’s anathema. There’s safety in numbers, especially since these battles draw the eyes of all who wish to decide the region’s future.[break][break]
He is denied that safety. A hand reaches out, gripping Grendel by the wing. His Dragonite screams, lurching forward so hard that Navy is thrown. His arms wrap around the dragon’s neck, a last minute mad attempt to keep from falling. He’s already died once for Hoenn. Let the next death come a little later, when is a little closer.[break][break]
“Shit.” For all the practiced bravado and steel-eyed determination, for all the years he has lived in Galar and in Hoenn, he feels the man he was last year. Empty air sits below him, reminds him of the street kid he once was. For the span of those heartbeats, he plays the part of the man he once was.[break][break]
“Shit, shit, shit.” Hollow words against the void. Hollow words send his eyes downcast, to where a frozen dragon stays. A surge of emotion strikes him through the sync stone. Determination eclipses the need for words. This is a great darkness. It threatens to fall on Hoenn. He must preserver.[break][break]
Come hell, high water, or golden rings, he must live. Thunder gathers around his fist. The thunder punch surprises Hoopa more than anything else. It creates just enough slack for Grendel to slide out. once warned him of the pressure that accompanies extremespeed. Grendel and his ride go right to the edge, Navy’s body threatening to break. All the while, hands pursue. They’re forced to turn. Again and again they dip, dive, rise, fall.[break][break]
When, at last, the pursuit ends, he is still on the right side of the beast. and the others aren’t close. As he gathers his surroundings, he realizes he is among strangers and masked menaces.[break][break]
A soft gulp escapes his throat. He puts on a brave face, tries to direct Grendel back towards Kyurem. His life is in Rocket’s hands now, hinging on how much they choose to care.
