It goes something like this: appeal to the Galarian market (Remiel Calcifet sure loves Galarian Meowth, doesn’t he?), appeal to people with questionable taste like skyler dross, and of course, a thinly veiled message about acceptance. [break][break] Their fourth and final purpose is this. Halloween ads. Undeniably, their utterly unhinged look makes them perfect for this sort of work. [break][break] ”You’ll need to stand still.” P.O.G Bank’s own CEO smiles at the felines, standing before a table on which rest carving tools and an immaculate pumpkin. He has a stencil, but live models are always helpful. ”Stand close to Cheddar.” [break][break] Sharp Cheddar, actually, as is the name of the Perrserker. After all, Killian Decker had thrown the original Cheddar into Team Rocket’s furnace back when they were in the middle of EXODUS research. [break][break] Not that the public knows about all that, obviously. [break][break] Mars is just a charming philanthropist who is here to carve the image of a couple of fluffy cats onto a pumpkin. He even puts a candle in it when he’s done and everything! [attr="class","skullbody"]Isaac did not have the Skills of an Artiste. He did not have the kind of expert carving know-how that'd really get a pumpkin singing. But he did have that maverick-like tendency to color outside the lines, and maybe today it would serve him well.[break][break] Ironically, he colored outside the lines by coloring inside the lines. Paint was the name of the game today, with a handsome slate paintjob for the base of the pumpkin and a deep basalt color for the stem.[break][break] Once that was done, it was time to get to the actual carving done. That meant carving a big, muscular arm into the front of the pumpkin, taking up the grand majority of the available space on the pumpkin. The bigger, the stronger, and the bulgier it looked, the better. After all, short of just slapping a big old puppet arm onto the side of the puppet, this was the closest he could come to getting the look he was shooting for.[break][break] The rest was just cleanup. A few geometric looking eyebrows, and underneath some simple eye cutouts. Those would light up the second the candle inside of them went off, immediately catching the eyes of passers-by before drawing their attention down to the flex. Voila! While her artistic skills laid more with canvas and pencil, the possibility of carving a pumpkin for the occasion was too good to pass up. And so visiting Oldale Town and partaking in the carving of a pumpkin was her purpose today. And her model of choice, none other than Aggron. “Please do stand still.” Elinor reminded the steel giant as it stood as still as it could. But its eyes kept wandering, and its body kept wanting to move. It really didn’t do well with just standing still. It needed something to do. Luckily the few moments it did move wouldn’t be much of an issue as Elinor did her best to use her artistic skills to make up for it. [attr="class","aurelie"]  [attr="class","aurelie_lyrics"]Carved, sealed, delivered [attr="class","aurelie_body"]With nostalgic amusement, Aurelie reflected that, when she was growing up, her family would've been far more likely to purchase a pumpkin for cooking with and eating than for carving. The idea of using pumpkins as decorative lanterns was somewhat novel to her. Still, she never turned down an opportunity to show off her knife skills, at least once she got an idea of what sorts of designs would look good and how easy or difficult a pumpkin would be to carve and etch to her liking. At first, she pondered the scariest possible designs she could create. By far the scariest thing happening in Hoenn at the moment was the incoming meteor, and for a while Aurelie seriously contemplated decorating her pumpkin with stars, a comet-like meteoroid, and a series of curling flames along the bottom. But she eventually dismissed the idea, thinking that meteoroid-related fears were already omnipresent in everyone's lives; it didn't need to intrude in a lighthearted decorating contest too. Instead, Aurelie's creative process ultimately went something like this. Skulls are creepy and cool, she decided, so I'll incorporate one of those. Then, being a bladesmith above all else, she naturally thought, Swords are also cool. Who doesn't love swords? I just have to include those in the design too. Maybe crossed swords, since that's such a classic. It took longer than she'd cared to admit and she ended up ruining one pumpkin with her first attempt by going too quickly, before she finally was able to carve out a simple but striking design that satisfied her. It certainly wasn't a masterpiece, but Aurelie thought her pumpkin looked spooky and memorable enough.  She honestly didn't know why she kept participating in these things, given her lack of anything even remotely resembling artistic skills. Not that she had ever let something like that stop her. As she steps back to appreciate her newly created masterpiece, she can't help the proud, satisfied smile that pulls on the corners of her lips. Pumpkin covers her arms up to her elbows, the floor, the table in front of her and the tips of her golden curls, but Skyler is barely aware of the fact. Or perhaps she simply doesn't care. She pats the pumpkin, as if telling it 'good job'. Sloop, the Wailord Prince, would definitely win this. |

OLDALE TOWN IS HOSTING AN EVENT for trainers and pokemon to relax and get a taste of Fall! A small picnic out on one of the old farms, lush with rows of pumpkins and trees heavy with apples. To celebrate the bountiful harvest a small competition is being set up. A pumpkin carving contest![break][break]
Somehow his agent had suckered him into making an appearance at a community event. The holidays are coming up, he'd reasoned. Your fans want to see you!
