Josh's menagerie of water Pokémon had grown so much since Splashfest. Last year, he had two Pokémon he rode to the sea bed: his Sharpedo and his Dragonair. This year, he had so many that he'd be able to take turns in the saddles of them all. Running off one of the sea platforms near the underwater dig site, Josh slammed his heels into Kairi's sides, the water-type leaping into the air in a graceful QUICK ATTACK and entering the water with a big splash. He could feel the aquatic Eeveelution's long and powerful tail swishing back and forth with even more strength than his Dragonair's. The tiny webbing between the Vaporeon's toes made her a fast swimmer, too. Touching down on the underwater shelf's surface, Josh kept his eyes open for the glint of something rare, while also keeping an eye out for a more secluded area of the dig for use later in the week.

"Muahahahaha! Diving? I can totally do that! If I can salvage a ship stuck in interdimensional space, run away from a boulder after recovering a totem of Mankey made of gold, and go diving for buried treasure, how hard can this be?" Howard laughed as he slipped on the wetsuit. Shirley looked at him and growled. Howard glared at her.

"Listen, girl. I know you're afraid of water and all, but the dunk tank was your idea. At least with this, I can put my skills to good use!"

Grrrrrr. The Aerodactyl growled and whimpered. Howard pat the fossil's head and tossed a saltine cracker towards her, which she snapped up. "Listen, Shirely. I gotta make rent this month, too. Maybe I'll come up with buried treasure or something." Howard reassured her with a calming voice. In actuality, he knew it was likely that he'd find some discarded pokeballs or potions that people had shamelessly tossed into the ocean. Yet for harmless activities like this, it was fine to be hopeful.

"Tally-ho, Shirley!" Howard hopped into the ocean. The Aerodactyl blinked into space where her trainer had just been. "Grrr?"

ITEM GET: Move Tutor

After seeing her friend return to the surface on her Vaporeon, Shalin liked the idea of diving to the sea bed with one enough to mimic him. Sending our her own Vaporeon, Rielle, Shalin hopped on the Shiny Pokémon. Not getting a running start like Josh's did, she simply had her partner push off the dock, getting those on the edge of the platform wet with the wake of the splash. She, too, felt the power behind the Eeveelution's swishing tail as they descended to the sea bed in search of a rare find to unearth. If she wasn't so unsteady from being worn out doing other things at the carnival, perhaps she would have slid back onto the tail. Not so late, though; once she was out of the water, she had to turn in. It was getting a bit late, and she still had a trip back to Petalburg.
