The proliferation of spiders reminded her of the Ariados that had taken root in the city, the ones that spun webs of toxicity and encased those with gentle souls clean off the ground. She was not the fondest of the creatures similar to spiders, especially not now- they had existed as garden dwellers before, but with the emergence of the toxic chain.. they were more. Everything was more than trivial, now. Anything and all could be taken, even that which could have previously been taken only in the wildest dreams.[break][break]

Nightmares like those, nightmares brought by the sulking of the magenta chains, were beginning to feel like a mission impossible. A mission like those that could never be truly fulfilled; it could not be contained in the swamps to exist without being touched, so how could it now, especially at such a grand scale like this one? Desiree spiraled as she watched the legs of the web-weavers dance upon their webbings, hopeless in the hopeless world.[break][break]

It was all she knew how to feel while she was alone, surrounded by none of those that shed light upon her achy heart. Wavering pink lights imbued with psychic energies from its horn, Amalthea sent out a wave of PSYCHIC down one of the many spider-hosting paths in an attempt to clear further- giving just the opening to attempt a capture on one that happened to stray in the pinkette's direction. There was too much hurt in the world, now.[break][break]

They needed to be dealt with before the toxic chain could claim more- and if the ball happened to click three times, dealt into the hands of love rather than the clinking of fleshy metallic.[break][break]

The green tint of the spidops were quite the ugly shade, much like an ogre, but that did not deter Nabi from the handsome creature. On the contrary, it was like love at first sight for her when she saw the way the pokemon beautifully shot its web from its orfices. The way it swung across the branches with ease. The way it intimidated others with its long limbs and blank eyes.[break][break]

Nabi had decided then she would like to have one for her team.[break][break]

"Quick, Jiji, use an ICY WIND!" she yelled to her sneasel as they chased after one of the wild spidops. Jiji was just as fast if not faster, jumping across the trees and branches with its AGILITY.[break][break]

Once he caught up with the spidops, he unleashed a chilling ICY WIND. The spidops shivered against the cold, back arched, and slipped against the trees towards the ground.[break][break]

Could this be her opportune moment to secure a spidops?[break][break]

Only fate would tell.

First there were the infections running through Littleroot itself, now there were Spidops going wild in the route right outside Littleroot. Seems like it was Hideo's turn to deal with Hoenn's regularly-scheduled craziness.

But Hideo was familiar when it came to dealing with wayward webs - his Joltiks had a habit of leaving them around everywhere.

They really liked dropping down from the ceiling from a line, to try and land on his head.

He never should have let them watch Mission Impossible.

As for his solution to the current problem? Let his Sirfetch'd cut down the webs, and knock out any Spidops that tried to stop it. It was a brave bird - it could handle things easily enough.

And hey, if one of the Spidops was close enough, Hideo could take the chance and toss a Pokeball its way. It'd been a while since he last went out and captured Pokemon.

'Thomas' carefully navigated through the traps laid out by the Spidops. Unfortunately, the trainer tripped one of the traps, ankle caught in a snare. As a Spidops approached him to finish him off, the Illusion dispelled, revealing a Zoroark. Kuma Lisa sprayed the Spidops with a Flamethrower, sending the insect fleeing.

As the insect fled, the real Thomas tossed a Pokeball towards it.

The Spidops' intricate weaving reminded Nenet of the child's game Cat's Cradle, its threads twisting and turning to form a web for snaring anything that came too close. Thankfully, Pyroar was well-equipped. As the Spidops made a quick motion to try and ensnare Pryroar a burst of flame burned it away.

Pyroar crow-hopped back and away, trotting back to Nenet with an air of superiority. "Well done," Nenet murmurs fondly to her Pokemon before tossing a pokeball into the horde of spiders.

Each step, a gamble. Would his foot sink into the ground and gobbled up by a bed of spikes? If he brushed against a wayward web, would he trip and fall into a sticky bed of inescapable silk? Were they simply waiting for him to make a simple mistake, one that'd cost him his life? Reminded him of college; those bastards always set fish-line traps to catch him on his way to the shitter.

Never put knives right below, though.

Tavish carefully put his next step forward, aware of the dozens of eyes that watched his every move. They would not get him, for he knew how these worked as well as they did. It might be their turf, but this was their game. Maybe that's why they simply waited, instead of attacking him from the depths of the shadows.

He raised the flask to his lips and drank. Refreshing water replaced the water the salty mixture that traveled down his brow. Slow and steady won the race-- but maybe, if he could get one of these fellows to join the cause... that'd be rather swell.

"Can't say I know my Cat's Cradle," he muttered underneath his breath, "but I know how a fuse works. Will that do?"

There was something nostalgic in the way that the silvery threads of webbing caught the sunlight, criss-crossing through the treeline and between bushes on Route 101 like a large-scale game of cat's cradle. Eddie couldn't help but laugh a little at the memory of schoolyard dares to see who get the closest to a Spidops' lair at the edge of the playground. He had held a personal record for most of his first semester of the fifth grade, having carefully worked his way through the webbing to carve his initials onto the Bug-type's tree of choice with an old pocket knife, until a classmate was sent to the nurse's office when they fell from one of the upper limbs. People did not make for very good Spidops food, as it turned out. [break][break]

He observed the intricate patterns carefully as he knelt down to one particularly conspicuous thread. The Emboar at his side huffed with unease, the mane of fire across her neck and shoulders flaring ever brighter, [break][break]

Wait, isn't this the wrong guy?

His sword dragged just barely off the ground as he marched into the swarm, cutting through trip wires and traps.

Triggering them, too.

His Aegislash rose from the shadows to block them each and every time, it's King's Shield glowing with a polished sheen.

"Now it's Paldean pokemon." Gwyar mused outloud as he smashed the flat of his sword atop a spidops' head. "Ecologists should be more concerned..."

The fact that Hoenn's ecosystem had yet to collapse spoke to the efforts the Pokemon Rangers had undertaken, truly. Or...

Johanna was starting to feel the stresses of tracking down all these anomalous sightings and doing her best to help them. But would that stop her? No. Even if this was MISSION IMPOSSIBLE, just like that one movie, she would not stop. Her help was valuable or so she liked to think.

Spidops were the name of the game this time, and Route 101 the unfortunate victim. Alongside her trusty Pallosand she joined the fray. With its sandy body it dived and dodged around in the area tricking Spidops into triggering empty traps only for it to descend upon them right after.

And as any good trainer would, Johanna threw a Pokeball at one of them as an opportunity presented itself.

It seemed that with everything going on, that some Spidops had made Route 101 into their swamp. Every which way, there were webs - be it strung between trees, or the bushes at ground level. Which was a bit troublesome, to say the least.

It was a good thing, then, that Tachi and Suede both were here to help cut through the mess. One way or another, they'd get out of here - and perhaps, along the way, they could see about trying to catch one of these spiders...

Sinistea watched as the bug pokemon crafted intricate web designs and hung or rolled down from them. She chimed with a confused tone. Robin just laughed. "They're just having fun. It reminds me of cat's cradle, y'know, with the strings." Sinistea, of course, did not know. Robin didn't really make time for those kinds of games, but she was happy to be in the area to see another swarm. Bugs weren't really her thing, but she liked seeing pokemon have fun. They felt comfortable in this environment, which was a win for all Rangers.

It would be beautiful, if it wasn't so annoying to get caught in.

She approached the area, releasing Piquer to use X-SCISSOR to slice through a few of the sticky webs. Then she threw a ball.
