The intensity of the battle mirrored that of the silent icelands, where instead of a constant snowstorm threatening to encapsulate them all in ice, the searing hot sands of titanic sandstorm would bury them all if they couldn't quell the golem.[break][break]
It was nearly impossible to hold one's ground, the sand forever shifting beneath their feet, so for everything it was worth Yuina clung to a boulder as her Venusaur mustered itself against the great storm that swept across the dunes. The golems eyes flashed, a series of dotted braille, and Yuina tried to focus in on the meaning, was it trying to tell them something like the prophecy of the dragon? Something that had many eyes and was built many years ago, Yuina thought it sounded like a CLAYDOL, but there was little opportunity to consider much else.[break][break]
A blinding beam surged across the desert sands, but it took so much direct focus, Yuina found an opening and called for Venusaur's Solar Beam as another grassy terrain bloomed across the ground.

Despite the boost from before, both Elaine and Gallade ended up flying back and Gallade had even taken a hit. Their own attacks had not done much, but they had taken quite a bit in the process. That alone was proof that the asymmetry between the two of them had been notable, far unlike the beautiful symmetry of a Claydol.

But right now, neither of them could stand down.

"Gallade, let's try again!"

It was a gamble at this point, but she was hoping that after throwing the dice enough that she would be able to land a solid hit. Once again, Gallade's blade arm glowed a different color as it charged forward towards the giant legendary.

Gaze upon the power of Steel and tremble.


"Hoh! You've my thanks!" Gwyar shouted over the roar of the sandstorm as 's pokemon came to his aid— before his gaze snapped to besides her.

For a moment, he look stunned, taking a step towards her. But he stumbled as another alien wave rippled through them, the thrumming, unfamiliar beats leaving behind a strange, almost shapeless mental image.

Claydol...

Claydol?

Claydol.

He didn't have a whole lot of time to ponder what that meant.

His instincts screamed at him, his body throwing itself over in an attempt at covering her as his Chesnaught's stomping reached his ears, her weight settling onto his back as she threw herself on top of them, a sweeping beam of light cutting across the sand lands and leaving an explosive wave in its wake.

He could ponder what Brynn was doing there later— the battle continued on.

And one of his teammates was getting a little too deep alone. His gaze narrowed, noting a slightly familiar silhouette in the sands.

Bollocks.

He nodded sharply at Brynn and El, before marching. "Onwards!"

He advanced towards quickly. Though circumstances such as the ones they found themselves in often engendered cooperation between factions, it was best not to leave an ally alone amongst enemies all the same.

The closer he came, the clearer the other person with the girl became as well.

The cape gave the man away, as did the hole in his armor.

"Fox." The Gym Leader intoned simply.

Figured that man was there.

... and too.

He decided not to pay the self-identified sword too much attention. Their relationship wasn't the sort that should become public knowledge.

He turned his gaze back to .

"You've strayed far from the party, Ms. Roze." He said, before turning to face Registeel once more. "Let's not do that again, please."

It made it that much harder to help one another when inconvenient things happened, after all.

His Chesnaught marched forth, her body glowing a bright light as she hefted up her shield in the air, before she brought it crashing down unto the sand with a roar.

Shifting vines of plant life tore through the dunes towards the titan, the wave smashing against its leg and attempting to wind around it tightly, climbing up its stubby limb.

The lush, floral terrain brought upon by her Comfey was soon swept away by the thrashing winds and flinging of debris; the sharp sounds that came with it struck fear and startled both Desiree and her beloved fairy alike, quickly answered by a familiar shield that bloomed around them softly. Though she was unfamiliar with the man responsible, , the lei pokemon recognized the scent that came with the blossoms channeled by one of its same species. It brought comfort to it, even if the situation they both found themselves in was dire.[break][break]

And soon enough, the terrain was a bit easier to move around once more. Looking into the eyes of the Registeel and the chaos that ensued around herself and all the other trainers so unfortunate to exist within its shadow, she trudged swiftly until she found one of many that she held dear to her heart- . Even with the many eyes that pulsed menacingly, similar to the unease she found looking into the eyes of a Claydol, she hoped they would not falter the collective determination.[break][break]

"I've got you," she exclaimed in her friend's direction, holding the arm outward containing her fairy, ".. these beasts need to quit it while they're ahead!"[break][break]

Yet, they were unable to be reasoned with- it was seemingly their nature to cause dread and destruction with their presence alone, intentional or not. It would be much better for the region to be littered with bones of mythos rather than bones of the innocent, she knew that much. With her extended hand, the fairy was quick to shoot out a barrage of LEECH SEEDS in the direction of Andrea; and in resonance of the Grassy Terrain, sprouted rather quickly.[break][break]

The girls always needed their shields, as they needed each other to prevent the endless spiral.. or at least, that was the case when it came to the one that had crept up the volcano. "No dying allowed today, for friend or friend of a friend.."[break][break]

Just burying the Registeel to the ground- or in an orb for further containment. It did not bestow anything close to generosity, therefore it was just as undeserving of the world of love.. unless, of course, it could be subjugated to her will.[break][break]

Phew - that beam of pure DYNERGY was way too close! Josh was sweating; he could feel just how hot it was from it nearly grazing him! Nitro's previous Leaf Blade had left a chink in the metal titan's armor; if he and others could focus-fire strong attacks into the cracks he had just created, he could open up a big gap for his friends to aim for.

Every hero's role was important: even ones that could not fight directly.

"Great shot, Nitro!" Josh encouraged. "Now, dig deeper into the same spot! HORN LEECH!" With another swift running start, the Gogoat leaped toward the same spot he had sliced at with his Leaf Blade in an effort to bring the Registeel off balance. Tearing off a small metal plate would be a nice bonus!

The skies part and swirl, fingers of blood-drenched lightning striking out towards the land.[break][break]
The grassy biome blooms twice and League and Rocket rumble in the flowers with little choice other than to play nice.[break][break]
The translator whispers again and Yujin thinks, Claydol? It brings to mind the journey into the darkness with Gunner Graves, but those eyes are too alike the Registeel to be kind.[break][break]
Sensing another opportunity to mitigate paperwork, Yujin points her polteageist at yet another unfortunate gambler.

the barrier breaks, sending a shockwave through the earth with a massive burst of energy—she feels it in the air also, the warm blow of hair whipping apart her hair. and in front of her, she watches as large ancient hands clap in front of her, the slow and measured motion betrays its power as dynergy bursts from its palms.

it clears the grassy terrain from the battlefield, leaving the land barren.

of scraping metal and ancient energy, emma prepares herself for the worst. her altaria feels the searing beam through one of its wings. alice screeches in pain, and emma grips tight, clinging tightly to her pokemon.

"come on. let's keep low." she mutters.

she brings her altaria low, enough to settle herself next to a stranger () and his rowlett throwing out an attack. a TAILWIND should give it enough support to help out. and to conveniently hear the answer to the riddle.

He looks ahead towards the Registeel, eyes lit up in want of revenge. The Milotic's body is ravaged with cuts, blood trickling over various small but opened wounds. Just like its trainer, it too feels a rage burning inside due to its Competitiveness.[break][break]

"We can't let it make a fool out of us... I guess we'll just have to hit harder this time.. Then... Hydro Cannon!"[break][break]

Water surges forward from the Milotic's mouth, a rush of concentrated liquid blasts out aimed at the seemingly invincible titan. Its Dynamax barrier was visibly cracked, if ever so slightly. With everyone's combined power, they could pull through. However, just how long could Noel last after being defeated once already?

The storm of dynergy overwhelms the sandscape. Monsoon winds and streaks of magenta dynergy crash over the desert, laying waste to the shifted terrain. Adrian, Howard, Hitoshi and Roze are forced to shield themselves from the howling sands as the rising gales pass through them. He might've already known, but Howard manages to stay resolute, giving the command: Forward.[break][break]

...Yet ahead of them, Registeel loomed.[break][break]

But there was a safety in numbers: Alongside , & —and the many trainers surrounding Registeel—Adrian was able to take that first step, building their momentum.[break][break]

With a grating shriek of metal, its body clamors with homicidal intent: A massive dynamax laser glasses the field, making cannon fodder of those caught in its strafing assault...[break][break]

But they had their orders, didn't they?[break][break]

In the growing pitch of the sandstorm, Registeel appears not unlike a massive CLAYDOL. Yet steel obelisks support the titan's structure, allowing it to tower over its unruly supplicants. It is there Adrian chooses to strike, until they were able to reach the Registeel's flank.[break][break]

"EARTHQUAKE, FUROR!" He must yell to be heard over the tumult; Gyarados is able to carry out the attack, granted they are lucky enough not to be caught in the burst of dynergy striking the landscape in their immediate vicinity...[break][break]

What was a Pokémon, truly? What fundamental essence defined them? There were normal wild beasts, like Purrloin and Herdier. There were things formed from ghosts and grudges, like Yamask and Banette. And there were things forged by human hands, like Claydol and Golurk. They were so varied, it seemed impossible to say they were all related, and yet even those with the most esoteric of origins were linked together through undeniable rules and laws.[break][break]

One such law was that Pokémon were stronger than humans. That scorching beam of alien light was the perfect example of that.[break][break]

“Careful, now.” A snap of Alba’s fingers, and Leech Seeds sprout near as Registeel’s onslaught comes his way, blooming in the Grassy Terrain to form a makeshift shield. He wasn’t at this battle as a Rocket, but it never hurt to try and score a few good guy points with a Beast, right?

Banter didn’t hold up for long, though, as the registeel swirled with a rush of bright dynergy. Yeah, this was waaaay worse than the claydol they’d come up against earlier. This made it look like it had been no more than easy busy work.[break][break]

“Keep helping, Ruthie!” The hisuian decidueye swooped away from her prior assistance once she deemed her counterpart was set. Amber eyes darted around the field.
