OK, so they'd been a little cocky last time.

They'd nearly fallen off the Mantine mid-twist. That had forced her to get her head back into the game. She was nearly on the leaderboard. She just had to hold tight and stay focused. Trying to celebrate too early would throw her straight into the ocean. She had to do the twist just as she had before.

Keiko was exhausted. The magikarp trick was too difficult. She needed to remember herself. She was a new surfer. "Cool and steady," she uttered under her breath. It became her mantra as she surfed the wave. She picked up momentum as she imagined herself performing the trick. This was one was steady and less difficult, she just had to remember to take things easy. Pushing herself would only result in a swim with the fishes.

OK, playing it safe wasn't working either. She was feeling a little hopeless. Other people around her were acing difficult tricks, and she was struggling to twist. She wasn't sure how much safer she could play things without risking zero placement on the leaderboard. She had at least hit some tricks last year. This was getting embarrassing. She took a deep breath and tried to lock in. No one else existed... just her and the waves.

Aww dangit, a bad miss! Was it finally time to throw the towel? No. She would never give up, never surrender. If the people running the Mossdeep Space Center had given up after the first few exploded rockets (with a lowercase r), they would have never made it to over 100 successful launches.

A sigh and labored breathing marked her second attempt at trying to do the seemingly impossible Magikarp Splash. This time, she fell into the water rather than back upon the creature's back- and the crack of the surface would have hurt, had it not been for the amount of substances in her body and the life jacket tightly fastened upon her tourso.[break][break]

"Damn, Muchacho," she continued to breathe heavily, pulling herself back upon the Mantine once more, ".. you've gotta warm up, don't you? Fuck.. this is so tiring."[break][break]

Elise had wanted to try the Primarina Twist again since it was not a really easy trick to do, but it was still a little better than the easiest one to do on a Mantine.
