His Golurk noticed this 'assault' and stepped forward aggressively, the trainer placing a hand on it's back to suggest it should yield. But before he could make good on the suggestion verbally, the trio of Snorunt surrounding them stole their attention. Although, as quickly as they stole it, the Snorunt were twice as fast to present their new friends with gifts!

There really is a first time for everything, isn't there?

"Uh...thanks you three." Derek accepts the exchange, kneeling to pat one of the Snorunt's on the head before being interrupted by Cat's Perrserker. "Guess we oughta head back." An amused wave is afforded to the Snorunt as the group seeks to retrace their steps, ultimately finding themselves back with the others...and a bunch of pissed off pokemon. Knowing only one way to solve the issue, Derek gestures to the Steelix. "Give that thing some hell, Saint." And so it did, specifically in the form of a Dynamic Punch.

"oh shit."

his brief conversation with Georgette Bluebottle and stranger kyle lopez comes to an abrupt stop as the rumbling of earth calls for their attention. swarms of pokemon flooding their way, and briefly, matias wonders what baboon attracted their attention (boruta maher).

with the others springing into action to handle the gible line, matias is left to deal with the rest of the steelix. he catches a glimpse of luka chêne and her musharna, giving her a big thumbs up after.

"GOOD JOB, LUKA!"

his own tyrantrum rushes forward to CRUNCH down on some steelix, stopping them.

as fernando's absol gears up for a FUTURE SIGHT, francie immediately stiffens when her name is called. it's Nia Acadia, which has her raising her eyebrows and she would be smiling if she wasn't busy instructing her lycanroc.

"get behind it, reversal!"

as her command is called, the lycanroc allows for the attack of the steelix to come against him. the rocks crumbling. that camouflage is what the lycanroc uses to cloak himself, coming out of them to hit the steelix with a powerful REVERSAL, knocking it into the cave wall with sheer force.

"matias?" her mind travels back to moving a wailord with MATIAS SILPH and she smiles, pulling out her phone and getting his contact through the ranger app, giving him a small ping, watching his location show, and then she points for nia to see that matias is being a badass at a steelix.

"that way!" she instructs before moving toward fernando more, a few steps back. "good luck! louie, this way!"

she turns, leaving the group and following FERNANDO SILPH instead of sticking around. louie follows, that FUTURE SIGHT helping to move some rubble and create some distance for them.

"Already makin' friends, Mister Angelo." Glowering eyes follow the pilot's path even before Skyler reaches him. Angelo doesn't really help himself, lips stretched into a lackadaisical smile as the incident is neatly brushed aside. For the most part.

Skyler peeks over the pilot's shoulder at boruta maher and Remi Cassel , silently taking note of whoever might hold a grudge against the blue-eyed pain-in-the-butt who so happens to also be her husband. "Try not to kill anyone before I find some more treasure, will you?" A sort of smug satisfaction etches itself into every syllable, lips curling into something entirely too provocative. 

By her hip rests what appears to be a fossil, and she makes sure Angelo sees it.

Unfortunately, her gloating is cut short by a low rumble and the shaking of earth beneath their feet.

Silver eyes cut immediately to Angelo's, seeking the shadows that she's entirely too familiar with. The captain isn't aware of gripping his hand tightly, fingers intertwined in silent support, until he's shouting in warning and Steelix are sprouting from the depths of the earth.

"Polaris!"

The Starmie joins Luna and others, using its PSYCHIC powers to hold the serpentine shapes in place while they're dealt with.

A calloused thumb draws patterns back and forth over the skin of Angelo's hand.

"Just so you know - I'm winning. I think you might be losing your edge, Angel."

What had promised to be a rather idyllic excursion was beginning to turn into small logistical nightmare for whoever was running the expedition. As Paxton pocketed his first real discover, a small Dome Fossil, those still descending stole away his attention. Particularly the poor bastard that somehow dropped down, a fear he’d had himself on descent. Before he can even really register, his feet are already moving, angling him underneath the ranger as he braced himself to catch. Impact is rough, but calloused hands would find themselves in a steel grip around boruta maher trying to steady them both before carefully setting him down, eyeing him for a moment before nodding. “You’d have done the same, right?” the blonde offered back. Maybe not. Not everyone down here had it in them to act when the moment called for it. Paxton just seemed to have it written into his bones by now. Always act. [break][break]

His attention shifted to the familiar faces around him. He offered a wave to luka chêne and a small smirk to remiel and Eris Halla . It’s pleasant once more and he’s about to go back to picking up some more sphere when the rumbling began, and chaos erupted once more. Before he can even react pokemon seemed to be swarming form all sides. The first he tackles however, are the Steelix which is visibly not that concerned about. “They’re just cranky you woke them up.” He said, not exactly knowing who had woken them up but not at all that perturbed either. Joules is already moving around frantically, beeping and blinking as their many eyes track the battlefield for Paxton. It’s too late to try to calm the big metal worms down though. Parts of the cave are shifting, attacks are flying. He may like Steelix, sure, even willing to catch some of them, but he could recognize a battlefield. And he’s already on the move. [break][break]

“Joules, get us some cover!” he shouted at the Magnezone before it beeped in a rhythm to acknowledge him. The Magnezone then began flying in a specific pattern to enact a Light Screen while Paxton moved after Bjorn. “Pick up the stragglers!” he added as Joules followed closed behind, eyes both on the swarm of grumpy wumpy metal worms and on the people of their group that were still making their way out.
