Having a moment to simply explore the crystal cavern after all the recent commotion is certainly appreciated, but of course, they should have known that there’s no way it would last long.

“D’ya need extra?” Paxton asked, once he was clothed. Like a rotisserie chicken he turned his back towards the Flareon so his butt could dry evenly. He hated nothing more fiercely than swamp ass. After a bit he sort of wandered off, sticking with as they followed a couple of other curious miners. He felt a little turned around at the thought of daylight before realizing that hadn’t been the case. He looked over at as he explained something about the situation. “I don’t think it’d be an issue to escort them.” He said before giving the trio a small nod and a little wave. [break][break]

He’d never met that friendly a pokemon before, but he wasn’t going to knock them for it. “Do Solrock and Lunatone usually pair up like this?” he asked absently. He found it kind of cute. Like a little interspecies family. The wholesome moment is interrupted by a commotion near the tunnel they’d come from. There’s silence and then a rumbling once more as a hoard of mole pokemon converged on their expedition. “Joules-!” He shouted, but the Magnezone was already moving, zooming past their trainer and smashing head on into the vanguard of the hoard, sending a couple of the smaller drillbur caught in the attack flying backwards. His partner is quick to move back after the initial assault to stand a little in front of the space family. “Focus on keeping them form getting closer. Someone else can take the hoards behind the front line.” He said as the Magnezone beeped loudly in acknowledgement. [break][break]

Weird noises began to emit from the Magnezone as it lowered itself slightly to the ground, eyes glowing as it Locked On as directed. Magnets spun and machinery seemed to be moving before light began gathering t the antenna before blasting forth as Joules unleashed a Flash Canon attack. Not satisfied with the effect, which had been decent enough, the Magnezone moved in close, hovering right over its prey and forcefully dragging them out of the way of hoard to finish with its Magnet Pull ability. Adequately warmed-up (albeit still somewhat soggy), Hideo and Rocky broke away from and the Flareon, the boy following his Pokemon as it went to investigate something. He could hear a couple other people ( , ) join in the small investigation, Hideo stopping once he felt his Lycanroc stop.

Hideo heard the small cry of a Morelull as his Lycanroc prodded on, the boy reaching down to poke at it as well. But only after he touched a single one, the rest of the colony fell into an adorable panic, brushing against the boy as they ran. “Aww,” Hideo moaned, “I wanted to take one back with me.”

Though before he could stand back up, he felt his Lycanroc nudge another damp stone into his hand - a Leaf Stone, though he didn’t know that. “You’ve got a knack for digging these up,” Hideo said, feeling it out in his hand.

But right as he considered showing it off to Eris, Hideo heard a small commotion coming from behind. Stowing the stone away with all the others his Lycanroc had gathered, he soon heard the sound of another stampede approaching them. “Here we go again,” Hideo sighed, standing back up.

“Let’s regroup with everyone else and help out,” Hideo said, both to his own Pokemon and to the two other trainers he’d investigated with. His Lycanroc had to stay close to the boy to keep him on-track, so his only way to help deter the Drilbur and Slugma horde was by tossing several Rock Tombs at them.

Angelo would give him no straight answer, telling him it was some kind of doomsday prophecy. Meanwhile, the other man would give him the straight translation. Thomas reflected on this. Did this refer to the meteor that was coming towards the world? Or did it refer to some other threat waiting in the wings? In any case, he was going to do some digging after all of this.

Thomas looks down to notice the odd 'bump' in the ground. The seasoned trainer immediately recognizes it as something burrowing underfoot. But rather than engage them, the mysterious Pokemon moves around them, and towards the others.

"Look out below! We've got something burrowing!", Thomas called out to the others, attempting to warn them.

Soon, Thomas would spot the family of Drilbur and Excadrill attempting to drive them out of their home. With a sigh, he turned to Ripper, and gave the Scizor a nod. With a grin, Ripper hopped right into the fray. The Scizor would immediately come in with a Brutal Swing, laughing as he got in on the violence.

After she dealt with the Gabite gang from before, everything went fast and she just go with the flow not fully knowing where she is right now. At the very least she is not that far off from the gang so she is not afraid of getting lost. When she thought that she got free from the swarm, she is now with another swarm that needs to be fended off. Drillbur and Excadrill, sure Nia start to realize how dangerous the journey to the cave can do. Gaku performs an ICICLE CRASH to the swarm with the hope of fending off while Nia is running away and randomly collecting minerals.

So with a hint of caution and a heaping dose of daring, she watches Matikda pry the stone open and finds herself staring at a rather nonchalent Slugma. Thankfully, encounter doesn't quite turn into confrontation and they regard each other with a nod before passing by. Soon after, she finds the woman's Cinccino handing her a fire stone seemingly obtained from the fire slug's humble abode.

"Thank you..." she whispers, gently turning the gem over to examine the little orange trails crystallised within. Hadn't her mother... given her something like this before? But it had been buried, along with the many other interesting stones she had collected when she was younger. All that remains are echoes of loneliness and regrets.

Though @matilda guides her back to the group, Eris is quick to break away once more to gain some space to gather her own thoughts. Her eyes trace the minute cracks along the walls, her fingers absentmindedly touching the slick surfaces of stalagmites. Perhaps, she'd feel a little more at ease if it had been a little brighter, but part of her refuses to yield to the creeping fear that insists that something is watching from the darkness around them.

The last thing she wants is to stop adventuring and sink back into her thoughts.

When she hears a rush of footsteps, she instinctively sighs, tilting her gaze up to the ceiling before turning it back to the ground. With how often they seem to be attracting wild hordes, is it really a good idea to be travelling in such a big group? Surely larger numbers makes wild pokemon feel more threatened and inclined to attack, right?

Run first, think about things later.

A short whistle prompts Keebo into action, a gust of Fairy Wind sweeping towards the horde and blowing the lighter Drilburs back. If there's anything she's learnt, they probably shouldn't use any moves that might block their path backwards... but does seem to be lightyears ahead with the Rock Tombs Rocky is throwing out.

They didn't need another swarm on their hands, especially one comprised of sentient lava clambering towards them in an underground corridor, but as luck would have it their little buddy held no interest in their affairs. It retreats away from them, leaving behind three FIRE STONES for the trainers gathered. Don't mind if I do...

Finally he'd discovered something, though it was a short lived serotonin high as the situation developed somewhere else in the cave. Startled into action, Drillbur and Excadrill begin running amok, but Adrian promptly nudges his Sableye into action. "C'mon Sableye, beat 'em back!"



Disturbed by the pokemon recklessly drilling and boring through perfectly edible chunks of earth, Sableye LASHES OUT, suffusing itself with darkness energy before striking out against these interlopers before they can cause further mayhem. Or at least, that was the plan.

as fernando surfaced, francie had finished cleaning off her piece. she twisted it over in her hand a few times before holding it out for fernando to see.

"it's the top of a fossil, from what i can tell. worth keeping my hands on just in case i can find the bottom somewhere else. though, pity, cause the bottom's probs down there where the top came from..."

the rumbling caught her off guard. it sounded familiar, like burrowing. her own excadrill, wilbur, makes the same noises inside a cave.

"...if we don't want to be caught up in the chaos, we'd better get a move on and head away from the group."

it wasn't rare to end up disrupting a bunch of pokémon while searching for goodies in caves, but it was also as easy to avoid if one timed it well enough. so without much thought, she took fernando's hand and glanced around, heading off toward their guide.

"@cat's this way," her lycanroc quickly moves ahead, using a CRUNCH against a small drilbur that had tried to cross his trainer's bath. "best stick close to her, since she's leading the way."

her lycanroc managed to find something while chomping on the drilbur, but he keeps it within his maw until he knows his trainer is safe enough to investigate.

Gavin tries to reassure with a smile, but it's fleeting and doesn't reach his eyes.

"It was a warning," he says softly, so only his partner can hear. "Written in Unown. 'It cannot be stopped.'"

After what they'd went through during the Star Soiree, he's sure Temp understands his misgivings.

He startles a little as something burrowed beneath the earth narrowly passes them by, his Dhelmise readying its anchor as if preparing for a fight. But whatever it was passes them by. Gavin doesn't relax, the warning still echoing in his thoughts, and it seems he's right to be cautious when the swarm of steel-types reveal themselves.

With his fingers curled around the cold stone he'd retrieved from the rock, Gavin uses his other hand to gesture to the problem, then clicks his tongue.

As the ghastly anchor disappears into its PHANTOM FORCE, relocating to a spot closer to the threat, Gavin tucks the ice stone into his pack and returns to the purpose of the expedition: discoveries.


Gavin tells Temp what the warning said and is not very happy.
Reacts to the swarm and helps participate in driving it back (we already have enough posts but Gavin wouldn't just stand there doing nothing, ya feel?)
Goes back to digging but is still uncomfortable as hell.

Water drips from her form as she resurfaces from the frigid depths, clutching in her fist a small stone that quickly makes its way to her pockets. Polaris follows soon after, its blue glow reflected a hundredfold in the walls around them.

Her clothes are mostly dry by the time she wanders off again, stepping away from the main group to find her fortune where prying eyes couldn't see it. She nearly bypasses a smaller group, stopping short at the sight of gemstones being pulled from the walls by psychic powers. 

Huh.

"If it follows after us, I'm sure it'll find its way out eventually." The captain casually takes a gemstone for herself, turning silver eyes to , and . Shrugs. "Or someone could catch it." 

Skyler herself has her fair share of Minior, caught during a Minior shower in Alola. They would've died otherwise, but this one at least seems adequately protected from suffering the same fate. 

Thoughts are put to the side as the earth rumbles once more beneath their feet. The incoming horde of Excadrill and Drillbur finds resistance immediately, to which Skyler adds with a carefully aimed Surf. 

Hopefully it wouldn't hit anyone else in the vicinity.

’s challenge lingers in his mind, burning like fire had kissed his jaw.

There unfortunately hadn’t been time to respond between their sudden dip in the cavern pools and then their diverting paths, save for a roguish grin he’d thrown over his shoulder. And a swift pinch to her butt as he brushes past.

Angelo dips out of there before his wife can retaliate.

Weaving past eager explorers, his search for @cat so far comes up fruitless. But even with the ominous as fuck message in his mind, that doesn’t stop Angelo from seizing an opportunity that presents itself…

As he approaches to watch the parade of Morelull march through the tunnel, the pilot is joined in the observation by an unfamiliar child ( ) and the not so unfamiliar .

The latter of which has him smiling, too sharp to be nice. He holds his tongue while in the company of an innocent child at least, lest the poor boy be scarred from the foul plethora of new words they’d unleash in his ears.

There’s unlimited gratification to be found in pushing the fellow smuggler until she flips her shit at him, after all. On seeing her aloof, slate grey hardness crumble.

“Cassel. Talk about déjà vu.” He smirks, stepping past Remi with an intentional graze against her shoulder to scoop up two Leaf Stones behind her. Angelo makes sure she sees him putting them into his pack, eyes sparkling like ice shards.

He wasn't just talking about their second cavern meeting. Satisfaction sits sweet on his tongue after stealing another prize from under her nose.

“Jackpot misses you, by the way.”

Their next encounter at Ritual would be fun…

“Right behind you, kid.”

But for now as he follows the kid back into the main chamber, they have another swarm to deal with. Angelo gives a sharp whistle to summon Luna, the Aerodactyl throwing shards of STONE EDGE to push the wild pokemon back to where they came from.

The pickaxe in Amber's hands was heavy, moreso than usual with the exhaustion of the recent diving adventure. A thousand complaints voiced themselves in the safe confines of her mind, each more colorful than the last as she hurled the metal at the wall to attempt and knock a chunk of gemstone free. Her Umbreon had no such concerns, happily digging at the rock and dirt as if it were all a great game his benevolent mistress had seen fit to design for him.

And if matters weren't stressful enough, of course there was another swarm of Pokemon. Of course. Why wouldn't there be, Amber thought bitterly. The furred form of the Drilbur popped up far too close to her and for comfort, and she jumped out of the way with a panicked yelp.

All the previous battles had left Lucifer tired enough for him to cast MOONLIGHT, his fur regaining its healthy sheen in mere moments. He dove at the Drilbur, fangs bared in a fierce BITE to punish him for striking his beloved mistress, then turned around to face the Excadrill hoard. A Dark Pulse rippled forth with a low growl as he positioned himself in front of Amber protectively, all the excitement of the mining adventure vanishing in moments at this threat to his trainer.

It would be endearing to watch, were it not yet another obstacle in a very long day of far too many of them.

As her Wooloo chips away at the outcropping, Georgette digs out a small pickaxe from her supplies and a pair of gloves. Settling onto the ground near Hershel she lightly prods at a loose section of the wall, her eyes widening with curiosity when a vein of colour is revealed. "Look, Herschel," she whispers excitedly to her pokemon, the sheep perking up with curiosity. The pair works slower, eventually revealing a shiny stone for their efforts.

It is not long after, however, that the ground rumbles and a swarm of Excadrill burst up into the cavern. Her brow furrowing as she notes her aged Wooloo's excited little prance, a flat, "Absolutely not," spills from Georgette's lips. Her hand quickly shoots out to grab the little sheep pokemon by the leg, pinning him in place as fighting breaks out around them. "You are not trained to fight, stop that."

Thankfully, the fight seems almost over before it began, much to Herschel's disappointment. "See, they did not need you," Georgette scolds her Wooloo, the pair soon returning to their digging.

Locke gave a weak and dripping thumbs up. ”Oh yeah. All good down here,” he answered in a sardonic tone, then, more concernedly, ”You?”

A familiar Magnezone rose out of the water behind them, and he inched away from the electric type even as he greeted it. ”Hi Joules.”

Its master followed soon after, and Locke looked at the dry clothes produced with envy. ”Ugh, all my spares are probably…uh…hm…” All coherent thought escaped him as suddenly and without warning began to strip down.

He wasn’t as quick to avert his gaze as Luka, too distracted by the sheer amount of musculature on the other man to even realize he was staring. It was like someone had photoshopped some twink’s head onto a pro wrestler’s body.

Locke was in the middle of deciding whether this was attractive or just plain unnatural, when the earth shook beneath them again, jostling them away with a sharp yelp and into as something tunneled through their resting space.

That something soon revealed itself to be another swarm of wild Pokémon, the species of which was unfamiliar to Locke but no less terrifying to look at. Vee-Vee was less intimidated, thankfully, as the little Eevee danced around the field without a care, Psychically picking up the aggressive beasts with the move he’d Copycatted from two sun and moon Pokémon.

Once at least partially dried off and purposefully ignoring the smell of wet bear and wet people and wet God knows whatever else in this tiny, cramped cavern they were all squatting in, and ignoring this huge run-on sentence, Remi notices something particularly luminescent. Frankly, the only reason she ventures into the deep is because light might mean heat, and her teeth feel like chattering into dust.

What she finds, however, is a small blind kid gushing about how cute these sprinting Morellul are. If she's being honest, and she always is, quite vocally, they're "actually kind of disgusting. Fungi that glows, yuck."

And then, as if on cue for disgusting, a cold trickle of dread and absolute dry mouth hits her in the back of the head. Ah yes, that's right, how could she have forgotten? Angelo fuckin' Vestri was still here. It's a wonder he hadn't drowned, too busy grinning ear to ear and talking big game.

He brushes or bumps against her shoulder, probably the latter because she leans in to try and jostle him. But he leans in quite close, reaches behind her, and plucks two leaf stones while staring her right in the face. The woman's face contorts into one of dry disgust, and she slow-blinks at him until she realizes that he's stolen what was hers.

Finder's keepers didn't exist in these parts, only blood, sweat and tears. And she was all out of tears, lost them years ago when she was a baby.

"Woah there, Vestri."

She pursues him immediately, spurring into competitive action and sorely lacking in a special green stone and some pride. But first, the cavern is rumbling again with another swarm of unhappy campers. She hesitates momentarily to direct her Pangoro to respond to the threats, but given everyone else has done a good enough job already, she reaches out to snatch his wrist. Her grip is not the least bit friendly, about as sharp as his smile from earlier.

"I'll be back for that."

She then pushes his hand away sharply before walking away. Picking a fight right here in front of everyone and their mother wasn't proper. Ritual though. Ritual was the spot for fighting.
