so the last round hadn’t been perfect for orchid, sure. that was fine! she could recover from this! it’s not like her experience is in swimsuit modeling, anyways. she’s a singer, for heaven’s sake. [break][break]

ahead of her, the runway is soaked from the combination of the actions of the previous contestants and the octillery shooting up jets of water. she knows just how to handle this, though. it isn’t her first time performing in falling water. countless times she had been onstage during a downpour, and, well, the show must go on.[break][break]

she could use her soon-to-be soaked state to her advantage, she just knows. just as she had done at any of those performances. [break][break]

beginning her way to the end of the runway in a confident strut, orchid gives the crowd a grin and a wave. but that’s not enough, no. reaching up to the pins and ties holding her hair in place, she undoes it, allowing her hair to flow freely down her back and around her shoulders. a soggy bun was unimpressive, but long, flowy hair? that could do the trick. spreading her arms out around her, she girls a few twirls as she moves down the runway, face up, smiling, and reveling in the water spouts.[break][break]

next to her, pink little quartz knows just what to do. providing a dulled icy wind upon her now-soaked cover-up, the vulpix freezes the water into small crystals of ice covering the lace. these crystals refract the light of the sun, giving her the effect of almost seeming to glow in rainbows under the summer rays. sure, it’s cold, but anyone who thinks that would stop her from enjoying the moment doesn’t know orchid.[break][break]

at the end of the runway, she runs a hand through her wet hair, shaking her head to ensure that it's got its time to shine. a bit dramatically, she reaches down, positioned carefully to ensure view of her swimsuit — after all, this was a swimsuit contest — as she flips her head and hair back up, straightening her posture as her hair forms a ring of water around her. an aqua ring, you could say. it takes effort, that much hair combined with water weight isn’t exactly light, but orchid knew she could do it.[break][break]

maybe it was overkill, with the attempts at crowd-dazzling — but orchid is used to being called overkill by now, anyways. she’d be nothing without it.[break][break]

it's not because of anything understandable, either. the fernando fangirls have her in a fit of giggles backstage. each cheer brings another bout of laughter.

she does, however, manage to swap partners just before she goes on. and luckily enough, she picked the right ball.

water guns fire off in rows. while her vaporeon takes the first few steps forward, illeana lets psychic terrain begin to spread around her. it coats her footsteps until she looks like she's walking on small, pink fluffy clouds.

her vaporeon's water absorb catches most of the water as it comes. it leaves a faint misting effect for illeana to walk into. she aims for a soft, dewy look but if it works... she doesn't know.

a smile rises as they near the end of the runway. once they get closer, her vaporeon stops and uses aurora beam. the rainbow rises behind illeana and as it rises, it leaves multicolor kisses across her skin.

Why was Noah being called to the backstage of the contest? Did Hailee want to talk to him, she had already had her turn. What on Earth was really happening!? Why was he being pushed by the promoters of the vent forward into the walkway? HELLO? SOMEONE HELP!? Had he been pranked by Hailee Jacobs ? Was this why she had asked him to wear this very revealing little shorts specifically today, something he would not wear in any other normal circumstances? This was fucking biblical.

And why had one of the people in the back given him a plastic chair and told him to walk out there with his Starmie!? Well there was no more time to question anything. "It's showtime pretty boy!" One of the guys in the back would say before pushing his forward into the open catwalk where everyone could see him. Noah would pause for a second before taking very slow and methodical steps, he was in full fear mode at this point. This was the scariest situation in his life.

At this point it was too late, he might as well do the best that he could ever do, right? He would try to recall whatever he saw Hailee do, at this point she was a professional so she was the best example he could thing of. He would soon meet the end of the catwalk where he would place the chair down and and sit upon it giving the Starmie a glance and quickly speaking up "Wet me up!" Starmie would proceed to use WATER GUN on it;s woner making sure to fully wet him and the ground around. Where upon Noah would use the chair to dance about while wet, if you could really call it dancing. After a few very weird seconds of his life the boy would start making his way back through the catwalk where he would not look back at this moment in his life ever. God he hoped Tam Fawley hadn't seen any of this.

keeping his trunks, greyson swaps his shirt for something a bit more of a vibrant blue. he nods in the direction of the pokemon behind the curtain, his nerves rattling beneath his skin.

the combined efforts of the octillery on the runways left, and right, create something akin to a RAIN DANCE. a light mist settles like a blanket over the crowd as the the drops of 'rain' are centered mostly around the stage.

his movements are as swift, and graceful, as anyone who'd never walked a runway before — so, not very. but, he makes it work.
[break][break]
when gets to the end, the duosion's 'cue' is hit, and it focuses an imperceptible WONDER ROOM around the stage. at the exact same time greyson places his fore-finger and thumb in-front of him, turning them into a heart, as he winks at the crowed.

as the gym-leader poses, the 'rain' stops entirely. the effect lingers for a few seconds, just long enough for greyson to get his 'point' across, before reversing and beginning to rain upwards. greyson times his movements with the reversal, strutting his way back down, and beyond the veil.

"I really don't like the way those Octillary are aimed," Razz grumbles and shoots Salem a glare to claims that it'll be fine kind of meow as he jumps onto Razz's back and points in a 'march onward' sense to which the ranger just rolls his eye. Nervous about some of the acts hes following making his walking a bit stiff with eyes now on him. [break][break]

Thankfully its Salem who takes the show as he seems to try and talk to his 'fans' from on top of Razz which may get a few 'awwwws' before the water pokemon strike. Razz's stiff walking makes him faulter walking on the water some but Salem helps him lean to keep balance before his eyes glow pink. Then all around them a pink whirlwind happens picking up the water and imitating a WHIRLPOOL with a mix of the Octillery and his SPRINGTIDE STORM. [break][break]

Putting themselves in the middle of it and once the storm was over the water falling on the crowd like a mist. Save for some who might have been knocked away by some wind but they're no who mattered here. Salem was gonna make them look good.

EXPOSITION

A COMBINATION THAT INCLUDES AQUA RINGS, GEYSERS, WATER ABSORB, WONDER ROOM, GRAVITY-DEFYING STUNTS AND PRUNED FEET rouse the wet crowd. In the summer, any hydration is welcome— and the audience is thirsty! Most if not every entry is greeted with whistles and cheers. There is little failure, save for the illusory follies imposed by one's own insecurities.[break][break]

For this round, everyone is LENT A MEGA STONE EMBEDDED WITHIN AN ACCESSORY OF THEIR CHOICE, that is, should they lack one. A suitable Pokemon will be provided, should the contestant lack one too. Everyone must activate the mega stone by the time they reach the runway— and the hotter or flashier, the better!

[attr="class","skullbody"]Huh? A rental Mega Stone? Nothing did wonders for the pride like being able to whip up a big, confident grin and tell the officials that you already had one of your own.[break][break]

It was time for Watson to hit the showers, unfortunately. While Hoenn's own starter Pokemon had Mega Evolutions, Johto's were not quite so lucky. Instead, it was none other than Isaac's oldest and noblest Pokemon, Kiryu, who would be taking the center stage. Was the old, craggy Aggron the picture of elegance and beauty? No, and neither was the band of old stone that Isaac wore around his arm. But she was his, and this was the hard-earned symbol of their bond, so this would be what he was going with.[break][break]

Compared to The Usual, Isaac wasn't going in with a head full of steam and a bunch of cocky tricks. Instead, he simply sat atop his Aggron's shoulder, reclining on the curve of her shoulder. He flashed a winning smirk and finger guns at the crowd as she flexed, literal rock-hard biceps on full display.[break][break]

Once they were close to the edge of the catwalk, he gave Kiryu a gentle fistbump and slid off of her shoulder. He landed with his fist clenched tight and pressed against the ground, as if landing in a classic superhero pose. Rainbow light started to pool from the cracks between his fingers, similar wisps of rainbow light rising up from Kiryu's body.[break][break]

Then he raised his hand, finger pointed to the sky. This was the signal; Kiryu's shoulders swooped back into elegant curves, her metal plates elongated to better catch the sparkle of the morning sun, and her height had gone from impressive to towering. The gleaming of her carapace, which was now pressed from stone to pure silver, left Isaac practically illuminated behind her.[break][break]

It would be impressive enough were this the end result. However, Isaac was just getting started. A push of her Magnet Rise, paired with her new all-metal body, allowed Kiryu to practically launch herself into the air. From there, her entire body started to glow, a bright white corona spreading around her as she hung in front of the sun.[break][break]

The resulting Metal Burst bathed Isaac in a radiant glow, as if it were his own personal spotlight. He made sure to throw out a few poses for the crowd, giving them the chance to drink in the performance he had just delivered. As he did so, Kiryu slowly hovered back to the ground beside him, her magnetic power allowing her to touch down without so much as a thud. Once more, she scooped him onto her shoulder, the two hitting the crowd with a final, perfectly-synced wave.[break][break]

When it comes time for Derek to make another showing along the runway, a familiar, but not identical pokemon stands with him. It remains behind the blind, everyone's eyes fixated on Derek as he comes out and immediately strikes a pose.

Revealed on cue, Derek and the mega-evolved Inteleon point towards the sky—Their sights set to challenge 99943 METENO. Perhaps not so obvious from the start, their intentions would soon be realized. Somewhere offstage a large boulder would be hurled into the sky, filling the crowd with shock as they came to notice that it was falling towards them.

The Inteleon takes it's time lining up a single shot of it's Hydrosnipe, which pulverizes the boulder into pieces that are safely blown away. Stray torrents from this pressurized blast sprayed outward, showering both Derek and the crowd with an echo-like delay.

All the gym leader could hope was that the crowd wasn't filled with fearmongers. This demonstration was supposed to instill something resembling hope for those who, like now, were the type who merely looked on as the League handled everything. That they could feel safe under the longstanding protection the League has offered the region and it's people.

This time when Elisabeth Fiorelli enters the stage, the lights hush and dim perceptively, her steps forward only revealed by the faint click of her heels and a soft, muted glow that wreathes the entirety of her silhouette.

Crystablooms, carefully gathered by the florist from all over the region and preserved for study, illuminate every strand of her loose golden hair in pale, crystalline blues. Many more are pinned to a diaphanous sash draped over the white, one-piece swimsuit she wears, which falls behind her in a beautiful, glittering train that ripples like foam on the sea.

The flowers' azure hearts flicker with an almost icy splendour, only to ignite anew with a rainbow of colour as a Butterfree emerges from the shadows and reacts to the power of a MEGA STONE. The brilliance of the butterfly's reveal causes the crystals to dazzle all the more, each beat of the Bug-type's enormous, gossamer wings shedding motes of light that twinkle enchantingly in the darkness.

As trainer and Pokémon reach the end of the stage, the model glances over her shoulder, allowing the entirety of her gauzy train to spill out behind her like a rising tide that carries shimmering blossoms to shore.

Delicately, her hand takes one such blue flower into her hands and inhales its subtle aroma, before throwing it skyward for the Butterfree overhead to catch it in its grasp -- twirling around the beautiful flower with unbridled delight. Haloes of kaleidoscopic colour spin outward with the motion, lighting up the stage in luminous ribbons of blue, yellow, and pink.

When Elisabeth vanishes backstage once more, the lights return to their previous brightness, the tribute to this rare ephemeral flora ending as quickly as it began.

Its undulating figure sprawls out across the sandy shore, slapping its tail against the beach lightly as it is forced to idle there. Snapping his wristband back into place, a resplendent KEYSTONE socketed into its only receptable, Adrian would be ready to make the best of this round.[break][break]

To him, Gyarados emanates POWER by its mere visage. While on the platform, he beats a clenched fist against his chest once, before shifting into something akin to Galar's CHARIZARD POSE, except he raises only a balled fist that he flexes, showing more pronounced muscle definition despite his lean build. Primal energy begins streaking from the gadget on his wrist, tethering with a similar energy spawning from a corresponding stone in Furor's crest.[break][break]

An unnatural glow of reddish magenta builds up with the crest as its epicenter before enveloping the length of its body in the change, swelling its serpentine form and causing magenta arcs of lightning to ripple across its figure. Beige scales harden into stygian bulwarks, and its dorsal fins split and become two-prong, allowing it to cut through waves and put on a prominent threat display.[break][break]

Mega Evolution? When the requirement for the round was revealed so was surprised. Luckily, she never went anywhere as a trainer without her Key-Stone necklace. She put the necklace on, for she had foregone it until now for appearance’s sake.

Elinor returned Lurantis to its Pokéball and summoned forth the only subject which whom she had trained Mega evolution with. Alas, it seemed she would not be the only one to use an Aggron. The person to first take the stage performing a splendid display with a very healthy Aggron.

But neither Elinor nor Aggron was discouraged by this. They would do better. Elinor stepped onto the runway. The stone upon her necklace began to glow brightly. Aggron followed right behind her. A bright light enveloped it as its form changed, granting Elinor a backdrop of light for the moment of evolution.

The Aggron’s steps grew heavy, sending tremors through the runway as the evolution finished. Its visage radiated power as its shining plates of metal finished growing.

Both Elinor and Mega-Aggron reached the end of the Runway. To earn the hearts of the onlookers, Elinor took a confident pose, arms comfortably hugging at her front. But behind her Aggron stood taking a Y-pose, arms aimed at the sun. A shimmering silver-white IRON DEFENSE light radiating from it as it praised the sun and everyone beneath it.

After their run Hailee kissed Lilli on her head once they were backstage again. "You did so well! I'm so proud of you." She said as she gave her a squeeze. They waited backstage a little longer, just in time to see her surprise plan actually work out. She'd signed her best friend, Noah Camus up for this contest too. [break][break]

Why not? After all there was no chance of him doing this on his own accord. She wanted to have this awesome experience with her friend. Plus he got a crown out of it so why the heck not. She giggled from the shadows as she watched him in all confusion before he took to the runway. His little dance with the chair and the water left her cackling in the back. [break][break]

Once he reached off stage she surprised him and tackled him with a hug. "That was amazing! I knew you could do it!" she said with a bright smile. As the contestants continued to strut their stuff Hailee watched and cheered for them in the background. Everyone was so creative and it was really nice to see. [break][break]

After the round the event coordinators cleaned up the runway and it was time for another round. Once again Hailee wasn't expecting to be still in the leaderboards, let alone at the top. She was just here to have a good time and to have fun with everyone else here too. But getting rewarded for her hard work was nice too. [break][break]

She listened and paid attention to the prompt for the next round. A million ideas started popping into her head but it wasn't until one of the staff approached her with mega stones embedded in accessories and a Charizard for her to borrow, that she had an idea. "Oooooh, I've got it." she smirked to herself as she selected a mega stone embedded in a pair of earrings and went to the back to change and get to know her new friend and partner. [break][break]

While she got to work further in the back she excitedly explained her plan to the Charizard while she changed. This time she was opting for a more sporty look, after all for this round she would be relaying more on her hidden talents and athleticism. Pulling her hair into a ponytail she added a visor with a brim accented with a shade of orange that matched her Charizard. In fact the accent color of this whole fit matched with her partner. [break][break]

She opted for a sheer top to go over her bikini top. The accessorized with bolder pieces. Black and silver bands with silver studs on them, a black choker around her neck, and studded earrings paired with the mega stone one she received from the staff. Grabbing a pair of twirling batons she nodded at her Charizard. "Ready?" she asked with a grin. Her borrowed Charizard echoed her enthusiasm, seemingly excited to get this show on the road. "Let's do this." [break][break]

When Hailee takes the stage she smirks as she twirls her batons with finesse before flipping her hair and striking a pose. Her hand brushes against the earrings with a flick which causes the mega stone embedded earrings glow. With a roar a shadow passes over the stage and crowd. Her partner draws the attention off of Hailee and to himself as he begins to change as steam rolls off him in waves. [break][break]

Mega evolving into Mega Charizard Y, Hailee and the crowd cheer, but Hailee wasn't done yet. "Yeah! Let's go!" She says as she tosses her batons into the air. With another mighty roar her Charizard flies, eyes locked on his new target and lets out a fiery breath that ignites the ends of her batons. [break][break]

Hailee now had adrenaline pumping through her blood. It was time to put her years of gymnastics skills to use. Starting from a roundoff Hailee does a series of backflips down the runway before catching her falling ignited batons and twirling them again. The crowd cheers and she huffs, glad she managed to land the stunt. After all it's been a while since she's done this stuff. But muscle memory pays off. [break][break]

Her Charizard lands next to her and roars again as they both strike a pose. Hailee spins as the crowd cheers and while her back is turned she takes a swig from the bottle attached to her hip. With the liquid in her mouth she turns and holds her ignited batons in front of her lips as sprays upwards. Fire-breathing, something she learned when her family took a trip to Alola when she was younger. On the same cue, her Charizard also releases a fire breath at the same time as her for their last little stunt to wow the crowd.
