BARNABY FINCH had actually really enjoyed this event during last years Slateport Splashfest.[break][break]

Swimming was one of his main hobbies and exercise activities. He was a natural in the water and could move almost as nimbly as any Water-type Pokémon. Liking diving, then, was a natural progression.[break][break]

He'd start closest to shore, near a small coral reef. Most of it looked healthy enough, with only a few of the coral looking bleached.[break][break]

Great, the carnival was traveling now. And it was in Mossdeep this week.

[break][break]Ruby hadn't seen Johanna Joy since the whole dream-Galar thing. She still didn't know how to feel about their relationship or the girl herself. Yeah, she was a traitor who used her rich family's money for crap like this—sure, the profits went to helping kids, but how much did all of this crap cost in the first place?—and the dream Galar had been, duh, a dream, but... Ugh, trying to think about it got her head all mixed up.

The two had swum out a fair distance from the shore by now, the lights and attractions on the carnival fading into the horizon. Oh, man, that must have looked amazing at night. But nighttime carnival gazing could come later! Right now, it was diving time!

At this time last year, Isaac had maybe a single deep sea Pokemon to his name. Now he could whip up an entire sea fleet with the snap of his fingers. Alexander the Empoleon, Poseidon the Kabutops, and Turbo the Barrskewda sliced through the waters like a hot knife through butter, the diffuse network of Shiver's Wishiwashi school trailing them to keep an eye on anything they found. If they found anything interesting, Octavio the Tentacruel swam over, his deep-sea vision and flexible tentacles letting him easily dig for any shiny objects.[break][break]

Isaac and Flapjack barely had to do anything by this point. But was it really Clamperl diving if they didn't bob down to collect their prize?[break][break]

Was Clamperl Diving a yearly tradition? Though two years did not a trend make, Josh wasn't going to say no; all it took was one windfall for his efforts to be worthwhile. Not having to do this after the stress of performing in a Mantine Surfing tournament was great, too. And what better Pokémon to go diving with than Resheph, his Dragonair?

Resheph propelling herself with her swishing AQUA TAIL, the Gym Leader rode toward Lilycove's sea bad, keeping his eyes out not only for a unique find, but nooks and crannies that would be good hiding spots for treasure once the hoard had become more scant.

Had a full year really passed already?

The windfalls from last year's Clamperl Dive had really helped Shalin get on the map. Every Z-CRYSTAL she found last year was valuable, though by now they were all gone. Each one was needed to defeat the "guardian" of a particular ruin, temple or other dangerous area serving as the hidden location of one of the Medallions of Eight. Having visited the Temple of Hours and Skull Woods, she got the feeling there were going to be eight more such temples out there to test her skill as a survivalist.

For now, though, it was time to relax and have a good time at Funtasia. Shalin took a dive on Bass Boost, the Seismitoad's saddle lightly vibrating thanks to the four large bumps it covered. It was a little disorienting being shaken underwater, but to her, it was all worth it! The giant frog was surprisingly fast underwater, the fairly quiet rumbling keeping pesky wild water Pokémon from attacking as she surveyed the sea bed for a unique find she could take to the surface.

Ettie didn't tend to dive all that often - given that 90% of her pack were more land or air based. But for the handful of water pokemon she had, it never hurt to let them have some fun in the waters below!

Gripping to Cassie's shoulders with a rebreather on, the two would descend downwards - Pago, Penny, and Aurien following after, to enjoy the deep waters. What might they find, down here...?

Remiel enjoyed diving far more than he enjoyed skydiving. Despite being an earth sign, and preferring outdoor activities on land much more than either, the ocean was a beautiful place. Albeit sometimes utterly haunting.

Nevertheless, the summer tended to bring out the side of him that enjoyed a good dive. The hot sun was far less appealing than the cool embrace of the sea, after all. So, after purchasing some gear at the local dive shop, the royal sets out to see what he might find at the ocean floor.

Clamperls... They were quite interesting pokemon, weren't they, given the two ways they could evolve. Not a lot of pokemon could do that - but the ones that did had an interesting dichotomy. Gorebyss was a rose with hidden thorns, whilst the Huntail was an obvious threat in theory, but with an enticing lure...

Hopefully, Makoto wouldn't have to worry about either, as they sunk into the depths with Ryuu...

Diving! It wasn't really something that El had ever done before - but with some lessons being offered in the area and a couple aquatic pokemon at their beck and call, why not? They didn't have to worry so hard about their bad knee in such a case - and it was an opportunity to see pokemon in a whole other environment.

"C'mon, Ceadeus," El called as they sent out the arctovish, settling onto their back. It was hard to figure out proper equipment for a pokemon whose head was on backwards - but they settled for having just a grip on the saddle, for the time being. "Let's see what we can find down there!"
