Hope came before the wildfire; hope that, while fleeting to some, soothed through hesitant waves within her bloodstream. Though her question was likely better answered behind closed doors so sweet, the support of the region against the terrorist regime truly would be the league's greatest acquisition if a war were to bloom on the horizon. However, at the emergence of flames, the hope that she had felt had been replaced by fear and empathy for those who could not defend themselves.[break][break]

Her eyes jumped around her skull as goosebumps manifested on her skin- especially while catching a glimpse of Yuina Higashi, hoisting a landscape behind her of civilians that screamed and trembled in their attempted flee. "Why? Why..," she asked, a lone tear creeping down her cheek, ".. when there is so much more.. at stake.."[break][break]

It was likely they did not find joy in the smearing of their cause. Reaching into her bag in an attempt to remove a pokeball, a desperate plea to protect all those around her, the whirlwind of confusion and wishes to act steered her vision clear of what approached from behind. An Aerodactyl dug a DRAGON CLAW into her back, digging through her suit and into her skin. The very skin and suit that had fallen victim to a Roaring Moon when the slit had been ripped into the earth, proceeding her most recent run-in with those that bore their same ideology.[break][break]

She winced upon the floor as the inflammation took root below the fresh stains of ruby red. "You.. hurt me," she said, picking herself up as fast as her body would allow, ".. damn you.. damn you all.."[break][break]

Popping out of its orb, the Grimmsnarl that had accompanied her to this now-grim destination smelled the stench of her anger and sadness through what had previously contained it. Though it had grown to love, the emotions it had fed off of surrounding it led its roots of malice to sprout far below its locks of white hair; a sinister, toothy smile grew as it scooped Desiree into one of its palms. All its trainer could do was stare at those that remained in her fairy's path, wishing, begging for this to be nothing more than a dream of darkness.[break][break]

The bulk-up pokemon's body soon became consumed by its emotional feed, darkness weaving curtains through its waterfalls of white. Expanding it outward at the Aerodactyl, a DARK PULSE, it sought to feed further off of the pain that would come with a successful strike. And once the beast fell out of the skies, it sought to feed off its trainer all the same- it was what the two deserved in targeting its princess, making her cry both clear dew and crimson.[break][break]

She wished not to fight, but there was no other option, as Team Rocket forced themselves to sit at the tip of her sword; they were like a plague, Thomas Benoit was right. A plague that needed tending to, just as the grotesque legendaries that crept in the shadows of the world, brewing chaos in their stride. Innocent souls needed protecting-- and now, the terrorist regime did not seem any different from the Megalopolans that sat on a throne of innocent bones. Lovely, innocent bones.[break][break]

Chaos unfolds. One moment Noel is watching a man about to partake in the questioning, the next he sees a burning husk, its wails filling the air with hysteria. The crowd panics, people flee in every direction as the Rocket terrorists unleash their Pokemon against the townsfolk. Many are caught in their web, falling prey to their merciless onslaught.[break][break]

Noel's brow furrows, a fury building up inside him at the sight of it all. Just how did they manage to sneak in? No matter, the safety of everyone was his topmost priority, along with putting a stop to Rocket's horror. The Toxic Spikes around him made it difficult to move, one wrong step and he too would fall victim. Some aren't so lucky, their bodies getting pricked by the poisonous caltrops, their strength sapped as they can do nothing but scream.[break][break]

"Rrgh... How... could they..."[break][break]

He releases his Hisuian Goodra to the field, the steel-type unaffected by the traps. First it would act as a shield for the citizens of Slateport, using its gigantic tail in order to Protect them from any oncoming danger. Noel would brave the mine field, stepping through and helping anyone in need and directing them to safety.[break][break]

"Hurry! Head that way and the officers will lead you out. Don't look back!"[break][break]

After everyone in the immediate area had evacuated, it was time to turn his attention to the threat at hand.[break][break]

"To stoop so low as to attack innocent civilians... You'll all pay."[break][break]

The Hisuian Goodra would turn its attention to the menacing-looking Gengar. The ghost letting off an eerie smile as if it didn't have a care in the world. They'd wipe that smirk right off. Noel's partner lets out a shout along with an eruption of draconic energy beaming out of its mouth. The Dragon Pulse aiming to take down both the Gengar, and Rocket personnel.

LEAGUE EVENT

THE ATTACK

Chaos reigned at Slateport City as men, women, and children alike rushed out in droves, pushing and shoving one another, empathy at an all time low. It didn't matter what it took - as long it was their life slipping out from the chaos, nothing was considered off-limits. Some would ultimately fall victim to the sharp rise of self-perseverance. Even a momentary trip would be followed by the audible snapping of bones being trampled. Every which way, you could hear the groans of the less abled, carried further by the sheer number of their choir.

Unhampered, the Charizard's encirclement of flames served as a daunting challenge for captives to take on. Some would wait for those entrapped with them - choosing to be saved rather than risk their flesh - but others found the ticking time far too overwhelming to swallow. They'd push through the fire, and in turn, faced its wrath.

Eduardo Hisakawa would quickly take note of the rancid scent of their compiled mistakes. No matter how many lives he ensured, he'd always hear another yelp, another scream, another failure.

But his efforts wouldn't be for naught. As blades collided, clamoring over the devastation of war, Kleavor would find the strength to overcome his opponent. With one slash, then two, then three, STONE AXES would beat every psychic blade that attempted to graze his skin.

Some weren't as fortunate.

While annalise henderson's meowstic made a valiant attempt to find victory through brains over brawns, at the end, speed became her biggest downfall. The dynamic Punch hit the ground, and with it, the world splintered. Rock and debris speared out from the ground, both left and right. Some were dull, some were sharp as razors, but as annalise henderson and june sleigh will soon learn - with enough force, anything can pierce through skin. [break][break]
A small girl's guttural cries could be heard soon after. Its volume was as thick as the iron that hung in the air.

"Ha! Nice try. Machamp, grab that bitch and toss her out of the way," The grunt snarled from behind his pokemon.
[break][break]

And the Machamp listened. It reached out its arm, grabbing onto the ranger, her flesh soft between his muscular fingers, and began to extend his arm for a VITAL THROW. Until june sleigh's TALONFLAME interfered, striking down from the skies with bravery bird.

"Hurry! Use her as a shield!"
[break][break]

Hard-hitting and fast, no amount of warning could prevent the avian from fulfilling its mission. Here, victory would come with cost.

While Noel Parker directed and PROTECTED the citizens with his Goodra, Elise Calcifet battled the shadows of her past.

"Shut up. You think I care about some galar whoever the fuck?" The grunt called over the crowd, all while the MARSHADOW'S figure swarm through the ground. "I'm much more interested in you. So sit tight."

But where the MARSHADOW had speed, it lacked stealth, as GENGAR's reaction was almost immediate. Not only would SHADOW SNEAK would be met - it would be overpowered by a solid SHADOW PUNCH, throwing the mythical into the ground.

"Gengar finish them up w-"
[break][break]

Before he could finish, a DRAGON PULSE from Noel Parker's goodra would burst from the backside. Despite the hastiness of its attack, the power held enough strength to force the ghost type away. It bounced into the ground, rolling back toward its trainer.

It was a cruel twist of fate that brought DESIREE BLOOMS here, and a more sinister spin that brought the aerodactyl to her.

"Hey, ain't you that new gym leader," the aerodactyl's grunt chortled, approaching her slowly, "guess all that was just for show, huh."
[break][break]

It wasn't until the Grimmsnarl forced itself to appear that the grunt took pause, stepping away. But it didn't matter, because when the grimmsnarl attacked, there was no evading the extent of its dark pulse. Harsh and intrusive, the ring of energy struck the prehistoric pokemon, sending him down from the skies.

"Cheap trick," the grunt shouted at Yuina Higashi as she looked to hinder the incoming spears with will-o-wisp. Some would melt - namely the ones headed for herself and paxton concordas - but others would find purchase elsewhere. It was hard to tell where, with all the smoke flying, but both would hear the occasional ear-splitting scream behind them. It'd always be accompanied by a solid crunch.

Luckily, this didn't last for long, as paxton concordas's porygon made way with the abomasnow. One tri-attack, and the pokemon was left was a gorging wound through its lower side.

FOR PAXTON AND YUINA, WHO ESCAPED WITH A GRUNT:
[break]Off to the corner, wedged between two lofty buildings, you sit in the shadows. The grunt's eyes peeked out through the black mask, wide. [break][break]


His immediate silence said everything to paxton concordas - he was scared and contemplating the risks of his bargain.

Eventually, the grunt bit back: "How am I supposed to know you won't kill me either way?"

To those still fighting on the ground, the battle still wasn't over. On top of the stage, Gunner Graves and Kyrenai Black kept to the councilwoman and Slateport's Mayor.

Above, Kyrenai Black's Hydreigon fought against the Salamance and Drapion. It was a tight battle, but numbers granted the grunts the advantage, because as two heads blocked the Salamance's entry, one head could hardly contain the strength of Drapion's poison.

And its with that opening that the three grunts began to siege the stage.

But despite it all, the Mayor still refused Gunner Graves's hand.

"I'd be damned before I left some gang of terrorist bring down my event in my own city," he barked. Years spent serving the region's military had turned him stubborn to conflict. His tight expression said it all: better to die fighting than accept defeat. "Can't we fight them back? Or are we that helpless?"

"It isn't that simple," the council attempted to sway. She looked toward the two guards for support: if the mayor wouldn't move on his own accord, force might be required.

She felt her cheeks flush, incomparable to the rose blooms that washed over the fresh slices upon her back; though it had not been the first time that her ego had been bruised, hearing it from the grunt that sought her blood struck thorns in all she wished to build for herself. A personal attack with words, sending bubbles soaring out of her ever-boiling pot.[break][break]

"No," she called out in response to her foe, lips devoid of whimsy, ".. I'm a star. You don't know shit about me. Sors de chez moi, branleur. C’est fini."[break][break]

Stillness was present across each part of her face as she watched the Aerodactyl tumble from the skies to the ground. Though it was satisfying, especially as she no longer felt grief for the creatures of that brutal, grotesque nature, her eyes widened as she no longer could spot Yuina Higashi. It was no longer a distraction, but what she believed to be an omen.. but of course, she would be dumb to forget that onion creature that had made its way around her dearest's neck.[break][break]

Yuina must be safe, guiding all the others out of the fray- she was always that kind of person. Quickly patting her Grimmsnarl's palm to place her back down on the ground, she picked up one of the chairs and hoisted it in her hands. "You're quite lucky I wish no more blood to stain my hands," she followed her previous statement to the grunt, tapping her mega bracelet with the chair's handles, ".. or you'd share the same fate as the man named Velmos."[break][break]

As her Grimmsnarl mega evolved, its stature growing larger and hair wisping around its now elongated jaw and teeth, Desiree slammed the chair into the ground with brute strength- and from the chair's rubble, removed the sharpest piece of wood she could get her hands on. Being that she no longer could spot Yuina Higashi, she was alone in the general vicinity with the grunt- and she wished to change that for the preservation of herself and those hosting the conference.[break][break]

She hit a sprint toward the larger palm of her fairy and used it as a springboard to get on its shoulder, and as the two were partially in sync, it soon made its way closer to the stage, yet maintaining distance all the same. Hoisting a sharp piece of wood in one hand and the hair of her beast in the other, she shared no glance or words with PENELOPE LIVY, the mayor, nor the guards.. just toward the grunts that made their way in their direction. Following Gunner Graves's flames, the Grimmsnarl channeled pure hatred into a SPIRIT BREAK, angled at the terrorists from the opposite direction.[break][break]

The grunt that had the Aerodactyl was much less important, now.[break][break]
