• Wordcounter: Though it's primarily for counting words, I've found that it stores whatever post I'm currently working on, so if anything happens I'm chill.
  
  Nothing else, I usually just work directly on the forum and then copy/paste to wordcounter periodically.

I always do my (RP) posts in Google Docs. It autosaves what I write, and I can do it on my phone if I don't have access to my home computer.

• Step 1: Copy my last existing post.
• Step 2: Delete my outdated stored template in my default bbcode.
• Step 3: Paste my copied existing post in.
• Step 4: Delete post content and edit any template changes that need to be made.
• Step 5a: Type my post directly into the bbcode.
• Step 5b: Copy paste and save in Wordpad if it's too long and I'm not done.
• Step 6: Double-check the button says Submit and not Save Changes before clicking.
• Step 7: Reread the post and edit aggressively until satisfied.

I blame ADHD.

I usually do all my posting at my desktop since I prefer working on a proper keyboard as opposed to mobile posting. Which I will do at desperate times.

As for the actual writing process I fill one half of my monitor with the Google docs that I write my post in and the other half with the thread open for quick reference.

I do my posts on calmlywriter and my preferred method to type posts is on my laptop computer. I save all unfinished posts that I want to make later to Notepad and Notepad saves everything when I boot up my laptop.

Also this applies when I'm sneaking posts while doing schoolwork for online class lol

MS Word is the way to go for me.

I’ve learned my lesson from typing posts directly into the reply field when the browser crashes and no backup is saved. The backup post thingie on PB is notoriously unreliable, which is why I exclusively do all my posts on a mint green background MS Word document where all my posts go.

(Something somewhere said light green is relaxing to the eyes and helps focus? I think it’s true.)

I used to be a Word fan. I still prefer it to Google Docs, but after it lost me dozens of documents with its glitchy autosave feature, I switched. I now use Google Docs.

MS Word buddies! I do all my posts in one long Word document, which now is 627 pages (325,513 words long) even with my sporadic and slow posting. Writing in Word is comforting for me because it's familiar and has the autosaving, like you mentioned.

Also, yes, the color green is relaxing for human vision because it's basically right in the middle of the visible spectrum for us, so it's an especially easy color for us to look at and doesn't strain our eyes. So, a green document makes a lot of sense if you spend a lot of time staring at your screen as you write!

I use a program called Nimblewriter! I have some vision problems so it helps I can adjust it to look like what I want.

When I finish a post, I quote my old post, delete the quote tags, and past in my new post. Format it. Post. Then realize I fucked something up and go back and change it...
