Fishing off the pier of Slateport Beach was relaxing after one of the wildest weekends Josh had yet. Diving so deep into the reef wore him out so much that he didn't trust his balance aboard Resheph enough to reel in a big catch if one bit! Not wanting to take any chances, given his level of exhaustion, he was content to try to reel in something smaller in the shallows.

another magikarp, this time even smaller than the last. with a sigh, she reeled it in, before releasing it over the side of the boat once more. this was not her favorite activity, she'd decided, but she would finish out the competition anyways.

maybe she could catch a winner in the last stretch. what if the biggest wailord was right under her boat? pretty terrifying the think about, actually.

With Splashfest wrapping up, natural resources all over the bay area were quickly becoming depleted. This not only included treasure at the bottom of the reef, but water-type Pokémon, as well. Shalin wouldn't be surprised if this part of Hoenn had to be closed to fishing in general to allow native species to repopulate. She was looking to hook a particular Pokémon, trying to entice it with specialized bait.

And disappoint them he didn't; this catch took much effort to reel in, even with his Beheeyem's aid. When he finally pulled it in, he found he'd caught another massive Pokemon - a Wishiwashi.

The large, shy fish took a spot next to the other massive catches Hideo had caught.

And maybe, just maybe, it'd be joined by another?

What if there was still yet another amazing fish Pokemon out there in the sea, waiting for her to catch it? There was certainly no need to make up her mind, let alone stop fishing, until the last possible moment. She cast her line into the waiting waters and took another drink of coffee, savoring its warmth and aroma as she awaited a bite.

The Octillery that Julia pulled up was clinging to the line with its tentacles, looking rather confused. Julia couldn't help but giggle at the sight. "Hey, big guy," she said. "Mind letting go of that? I kinda need it." She reached out to unhook the Octillery, who followed Julia's lead and let go of the rod to land in the ocean. It swam down below the Mantine to hang out with the Remoraid there. With that settled, Julia cast her line again.
