If Hideo had a PD for every time a distortion happened in a cave he just happened to be in, he’d have two PD. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird it happened twice. Yet reality is weirder than fiction, and here Hideo was in Meteor Falls, another distortion falling right where he was.

Hideo’s Pokemon were quick to go to his defense - though he hadn’t exactly brought the most intimidating pair this time. Despite that, his Chimecho and Shaymin proved more than capable of fending off any of the sudden arrivals, despite their diminutive sizes. Even more impressive was that the Shaymin did so from on top of Hideo’s head.

As for Hideo himself, going through a fight-fraught cave without a Pokemon to effectively guide him was disorienting, to say the least. He just had to find his way towards where the echoes seemed least common - he’d find the exit eventually.

Though he wouldn’t mind picking up a bit of loot along the way; he felt his foot hit another one of those glass shards that kept popping up in these places. He could only wonder why he kept finding them here: were the distortions bringing them here, or were they here before and brought the distortions to them?

Probably not the latter; no distortions at his camp, where the other four shards he’d found laid.

After recent events, the already strange space-time distortions have, to Gavin, taken on a much more sinister air. Could he be certain they would not lead to another extermination attempt by the Triad? Another Darkest Day?

Yet he investigates regardless, because his insatiable curiosity is a dominant, driving force.

That, and the Pokémon found within were incredibly rare and valuable.

"There." The Riolu given to him by Raphael Pryde perks up at the command, anxious to please. It follows Gavin's gesture to a white-and-purple Sneasel scaling the wall of the cave. "Take it out."

In the aftermath, as the thrown luxury ball shakes, Gavin looks over the roughed up Riolu. It's doing its best to pretend that the injuries sustained during the battle aren't affecting it... an effort that draws a wry smile. It still hurts to interact with the little aura Pokémon after the loss of Niamh, but he can't hold that against her kin.

"Rest up."

As he bends down to pick up the luxury ball, a glint of yellow draws his eye.

[attr="class","matias"]matias descends upon meteor falls atop his braviary — a decision he'd made long before this distortion appeared. by now, they've done enough research to know the different variations that exist, so this visit has a purpose.

and sure enough, his braviary undergoes what others have gone, and the shift is finalized with a sharp ESPER WING that cuts across the space.

The Pokeball shook with a capture attempt, he had almost been caught on fire by the surprise attack of what appeared to be a Typhlosion, only its flames were significantly different from any variation he had ever seen.

Callan checked his jacket as his Greninja prepped its water shuriken, in case the Pokemon came out again. Whatever the case was, it'd definitely an important research topic on some of these alternate forms that were found in the Distortions.

Form change: Typhlosion -> H!Typhlosion.
Move: Infernal Parade
+ Yellow Shard.

More ghosts have been rumored to be appearing these distortions. Much to Lex’s delight, her newly acquired Quilava may have the potential to turn ghost-type upon evolution.

Or so the rumors say.

It’s worth a shot. Despite her distaste to venturing into the chaos, she does so anyway. Meteor Falls does not bring back pleasant memories but she’s a much different person than when she was captured by the League.

“Alright,” she growled, expanding the sphere in her hand, “Let’s hope this trip was worth it!” More than the trip, the pokemon the traded to get this Quilava in the first place, “Hm, maybe you need to battle something,” That’s typically how evolution worked.

She points towards a charging Haunter, making note that maybe she should pick on of those up too before they leave. The pokemon tenses, fire erupting across its back before it charges with a FLAME WHEEL.

Fire consumes it, but so does another energy. A haunting, purple haze consumes it and when it returns from the smoke it has change, evolved into some sort of strange, spectral Typhlosion, “Good,” she smiles, watching it unleash an INFERNAL PARADE towards more charging pokemon.

The gengar she brought with her as back leaps forwad as well, spewing a POISONOUS GAS from its large, open maw across the field before it.
