Well, Sy figured he wasn’t going to win-- or place, even-- but at least he’d been here to put on a show. And watch everyone else’s! They were all so cool and talented.

He had one last shot to, at the very least, make people remember his name. Or not! He didn’t so much care. It awas all for a good cause, after all.

He decides, what the hell, and enlists the help of his Floatzel, Princeton. Gripping the Sea Weasel beneath the surf, Princeton uses Aqua Jet to power Sy through the water by pectoral power making it seem like he isn’t even swimming!



He crashes onto the beach in a spray of sand, jumping up and rubbing the golden granules seductively down the length of his abdomen, flipping his wet hair back and winking at the crowd, sunbeam smile flashing, ignoring the crunch of grit in his teeth.

In the end, his participation in this Swimsuit Contest had never been about winning. Or, well, at least not in the most traditional sense. After all, as Mars sees it, the real win here is the sweet sweet free advertisement.

That much has probably been made obvious with his every performance so far, especially due to the fact that he has always been accompanied by the same gold Meowth. But, if the audience had thought Mega Evolution limbo was the best P.O.G Bank could give them… well… they sure had thought wrong, hadn’t they?

”Look at that!” Someone amongst the huge crowd shouts when Mars’ turn to take the stage comes. They point towards the sea, and sure enough, there, a few metres away from the shore, way past the shallows, THREE GROUPS OF WATER SKIERS glide over the surface of the water, pulled by Sharpedo. They stand on each other’s shoulders to form three perfect pyramids, and for each pyramid, the one standing at the very top waves a flag of black and gold. One flag has a clearly visible “P”, one has an “O”, and one has a “G”.

However, these water skiers are rather short, and when they come closer the reason why that seems to be the case becomes obvious: they’re MEOWTH! Over a dozen Meowth! Kantonian, Alolan, Galarian, shiny, and even golden. They’re the proud mascots of the bank, and having been trained to perform for its ads, something like this is no problem even for those of them that may not like water all that much.

In front of the pyramids, pulled by his own Sharpedo, P.O.G Bank’s CEO wakeboards, waving at the crowd just as he comes to shore. He gets off the board with practised ease, and when the cats reach the shore as well, they jump onto the sand excitedly.

Coins rain down, golden amulets created by the Meowth’s PAY DAY falling upon the sand. It’s as it had been before but twenty times greater, and soon enough it’s as if the whole catwalk is covered in the treasure brought forth by the felines. Stepping forward, Mars pucks a coin right out of the air, rolling it between his fingers while smirking at those watching.

"Okay boy, stay here. Once I finish this round of the contest, we can get back to fishing," Jack says to Watts as they wait behind a screen set up along the beach. Having foregone his usual board shorts, Jack wears striped green and yellow swim trunks with a five-inch inseam. When the contest coordinator gives him the signal, he swims out into the water behind the screen before diving down and turning back toward where the audience would be waiting on the beach. Thank Arceus for all the training I've been doing with diving during Splashfest, he thinks to himself as he swims rapidly.

As the sand begins to slope upward and Jack reaches the point where he will be able to stand up and rise from the waves he plants his feet and pushes upward for a dramatic entrance only to strike his head against something on the surface. As he stands, the wet fur of his Boltund slides against his face and neck and he gently drops the pokemon back into the water.



Jack laughs and inhales water as Watts swims away to the shore, barking happily. Regaining his composure, Jack continues up to the beach as water drips from his hair. Once his feet reach dry sand, he gives a jaunty wave before turning to walk away as Watts wags his tail nearby.

One final round. This was it. Josh knew he likely had little chance of actually winning this, so all he could do was just try and have fun with it. People were walking on the sands, into the ocean, out of the ocean, moonwalking through the ocean and he was pretty sure he saw a Wynaut fly in the background, though he wasn't sure as to whether that was part of the Contest or not. To the surprise of some perhaps though, Josh had decided to stick with the Blastoise from a previous round.

Despite the fact that it had previously tried to kill him. Unintentionally, mind. As had the Swampert. Hopefully unintentionally. But Josh didn't just come from the sea this time, oh no, he had decided on something even better.

It seems his addiction to the Mantine Surfing minigame had come into play. Also a surprise, considering he hated that game. But it was still a marvelous sight as the Blastoise shell could be seen riding atop a huge wave, with the swimsuit-clad Ranger surfing on top of the shell.

"Alright Bastilo, let's see if we can finally pull this off!"

Higher and higher the pair would ride up the wave, before Bastilo would kick off the wave and fly high into the air.

"Let's go! Magikarp Splash!"

One flip, two, and then...

SPLASH!

They hit the water and disappeared underneath. Josh's eternal bad luck in trying to hit the Magikarp Splash continued to plague him once more, no matter which Pokemon he tried using. There were a few uncomfortable moments though, where neither of them surfaced. Until suddenly...

The water's surface would be broken as two powerful jets of water would create a path through the water towards the shore. Like an ancient king of the ocean stepping out of his watery tomb, Josh stepped out from a gap in the water that brought him to the surface and to the shore as he strode onto and through the beach with purpose. Flipping his hair back and to the side to get it out of his face made for a very appealing gesture, even if not intentional.



Surprisingly, nothing terrible happened this time.

cold ocean water laps at her waist as she waits for the curtain to fall. lurking in the depths behind her, her wailord waits for its cue — because when else will she be able to use such a large pokemon? prohibited from most events by its size and aquatic nature, she might as well let it come out and make waves in the last round. she adjusts her cover-up so it floats ethereally around her instead of bunching up. the curtain falls. annalise walks through the surf, fingers tracing the surface of the water as white cloth trails behind her like a wedding train. [break][break]
annalise stops when the waves are lashing at her calves and strikes a pose. in the great, blue backdrop behind her, a wailord leaps from the water, twisting in the air to dive back in with an impressive splash.

SWIMSUIT CONTEST
If ever he has to choose the beach or the ocean, Gavin will choose the beach. Every time. Even when it's so hot that the air shimmers and so many of the contestants retreat to the sanctuary of the water.

He could do with some water, as well, but...

He'd chosen the path of SAND, so might as well lean into that for good or ill.

His Steelix doesn't get much attention, these days, with her shadowed siblings outshining her in the Rocket's eyes. But she's a brilliant sight to behold in her golden, glittering glory, and so when she erupts at the end of the runway (DIG), it's bound to draw some attention. Slithering down the runway with her trainer poised on her back (sorely regretting his decision to ride atop a metal Pokémon in the harsh sun), she burrows back into the earth with a parting SANDSTORM that swirls around Gavin like a sandy ribbon before falling harmlessly to the ground.



Thank Arceus, it's over.

Gavin lifts a hand to wave at the crowd in parting before leaving the runway in sheer relief.

Once the sand and the sea were clear of the accosting WINGULL and WAILORD, courtesy of and , it was time for Barnaby's final performance. Although they hadn't been given much time to formulate a routine, he'd actually been hoping to try something like this for a long time now.

He'd chosen Hoenn's ocean as the mainstage for this final round, beginning behind the provided curtain so it seemed as if he was appearing from a distance. Helping Barnaby were two of his beloved companions, Castor and Camille, whose powers were crucial for the stunt he had in mind. They sat atop either of his shoulders, providing the frigid energy and psychic balancing needed to pull this off.

Like a surfer in his element, Barnaby shot from around the curtain - not riding the water, but on a path of ice created by his VULPIX's continuous use of FREEZE DRY. Assisting so that he didn't fall on his ass was his RALTS, who guided the three along with it's psychic powers. They bobbed and weaved around Slateport Beach's shore, in perfect view of the audience, soaking up all their cheers with aplomb.

When the opportunity presented itself, Barnaby rounded on a large, cresting wave.

At the peak of said wave Castor shot a stream of icy energy, causing the cascading water to freeze and then immediately shatter under its weight. They timed this just so, all for dramatic effect, of course.

Barnaby reached the shore with a shower of icy particles dancing around him. Glacial fragments clung to his hair, his heaving chest, and those tight swimming briefs he so enjoyed wearing. To the crowd he struck one final pose: a self-assured look over the shoulder, a parting wave, and then he was gone - teleported away by Camille.

they choose to keep to the ocean, the water lazily lapping at their feet.

and with an idea in mind, she uses her mega stone once more to keep her lovely little gremlin in mega form.

they take to the stage atop her sableye's giant gem, using the pretty red crystal as a makeshift surfboard. and as they paddle in toward the shore, her sableye uses power gem to illuminate illeana and the water around them.



the resulting effect is a dazzling, diamond-like look as illeana poses atop the red gem and flashes a bright smile.

if there was a queen, maybe she'd even be diamond of the season...

[attr="class","adrianwtw"]With the end of the round Adrian and Furor disappear behind the curtain, the latter dredging up a path through the sand as it lumbered into deeper waters to wear off the transformation. Its twin dorsals can be seen breaking the water in the backdrop, never out of sight. Waves recede into the trench, creating a shallow pool of water.[break][break]

Adrian finds himself settling against the smooth, compacted shoreline there, a fresh wave of brine washing over him to keep him cool. If nothing else it's comfortable lying in a prone position, attracting at least the discerning eyes of from among their crowd. He couldn't be bothered with anything beyond that simple ask.[break][break]

Wave after wave crashes against him despite a noticeable change in tide, evening out the trench until once again he's laying flat against the sand. When the gritty, coarse texture begins to cling against his skin and ride up his briefs, he eventually calls it quits. Pushing himself off the ground, Adrian dusts himself off, plucking at the hem of his swimwear to try and catch a break from the irritating embrace of silica that had overtaken him.[break][break]

Walking back up the beach, he catches a glimpse of himself in the sky's reflection along the placid waters.[break][break]

He asked as they began set up, gesturing at the people handling music to turn up the song he'd requested. When the curtains parted, and Isaac's name was called, he didn't come out. In fact, he didn't even seem to be present at first. Had his rather middling reception so far convinced him to pack his bags and go home? Was the pressure of performing up close and personal with the audience simply too much for him?[break][break]

Or was he simply taking emerging from the water to its logical conclusion?[break][break]

A shadow spread across the water. With each moment it grew larger and larger. Bubbles began to rise up in its wake, a small trickle at first but rapidly picking up speed by the second. The sound of rushing, churning water grew all the more obvious. Something was coming from the depths. And it was coming fast.[break][break]

That was when Flapjack breached from the waves.[break][break]

All of the Mantine's previous Splashfest training was starting to pay off. Her time hunting for treasure had taught her to Dive with the best of them, allowing her to start far beneath the waves and rapidly ascend back to the surface. Such momentum allowed her to practically rocket out of the water. She keened with pride as she ascended, wide-spread wings giving the closest of the crowd a brilliant shower of water and treating those further back to a rainbow that arched across the resulting sea spray.[break][break]

Isaac wasn't content to just ascend, however. Flapjack had gotten a far firmer base since she started training at Mantine Surfing, and Isaac took advantage of that to hit some of the tricks they had practiced on the ascent. What was better than a cute guy in a nice bathing suit? That same guy showing you that he could do flips with the best of them. He landed just as Flapjack reached the apex of her jump, the sun perfectly framing both of them for the crowd below.[break][break]

In his hand, he held a single dahlia. Blue outer petals highlighted a small ring of yellow petals along the flower's inside. As he hung there in the air, overlooking the crowd, there was a single special person he'd be keeping an eye out for. If she happened to be in the audience, he'd point down to her with the flower in a grand, sweeping gesture.[break][break]

The rest of the crowd could think whatever they wanted of his performance. There was only one person he was out here to impress.[break][break]

Once that was done, Flapjack angled her body back down towards the waters, swooping into the surface of the water with surprising poise and grace. She swam in a large, listless circle to give the crowd one last show, Isaac posing atop her back all the while.[break][break]

it's the fourth and final round of the swimsuit contest.

[break][break] as the contestants line up behind the curtian, jayden looks down at his trousers and wonders if he should perhaps change his swimsuit. though, his NOAH FABER shorts are patented. they have lasted them this far — so why not any longer?

[break][break] when it comes to jayden's turn, his entrance is standard. marshmellow clouds buffet the sky as the sun gleams hot and humid, the audience sitting in anxious wait for the next contestant to come out. the water sparkles like glitter in the summer heat. soon enough, however, the audiance will see dots of green and blue as a pair of dragapult soar through the sky, dropping bombs of DRAGON DARTS.

[break][break] geysers explode from the ocean upon impact, and in the middle of the columns of water, jayden comes strolling out.

THE CONTEST COMING TO AN END is not the cue for a grand finale. it’s a chance for a prompt exit.

the change in location is enough of a detour for fernando to get lost in the back-to-back displays of bountiful gaits and extravagant pokemon. his own presentation seems to be an intermission in comparison.

he simply walks from one end to the other. a momentary pause is done half way, digging his toes into the sand as he looks to the crowd. a half-hearted wave is their only acknowledgement as he and his marill clear the beach.

the imprints they leave behind are washed away before the next contestant comes out.

“and there goes fernando silph,” the announcer decrees. “hot on his heels!”

For a moment Razz ponders how to do their next entrance but it seems like Salem already has something plotting as the cat recalls Royal for Azulon. At first the ranger not entirely understanding what was going on until the Meowstic hopped onto the Empoleon's head. "Ah," he all he gives as he ponders about it before shrugging with a 'sure' as Salem seems to hype Empoleon up. [break][break]

One by one contestants go but Azulon waits for the right wave to ride. And once there was one big enough Azulon rides the wave with Razz and Salem at high speeds. Had Razz not been used to going faster thanks to his own avatar powers, he might have fallen off. Yet standing up on the penguin king seems to come easy as the Empoleon comes in quick with no signs of slowing down before the Ranger gives a whistle. And on the command Azulon uses Aqua Jet to surf onto the sand and toward the crowd before him and Salem jump and roll into a job and slowing down to pose. [break][break]

Because going from high speed pokemon to being at the ready was impressive right?
