When she heard tell of the energy spike in the Silent Icelands, Kelpie’s chest filled with diabolical glee. It would be a chance to see her work in action. And, perhaps, see a so-called god brought to heel. After a brief debate between winter jackets, she suits up for the coming battle. Her PC is emptied into the bag on her back. Many of these Pokemon are little more than lab fodder. [break][break]

Calpurnia simply intends to watch. The battlefield is a place for brawn, not beauty nor brains. But, as time goes on, the woman’s irritation begins to rise. The idea that this monster can shake the earth with a step is ridiculous. Unfortunately, it seems things are not going as well as she’d first thought. This is driven home by @howard’s ominous proclamation. Though, there is a quiet little chuckle at @xenon.[break][break]

Deciding that channel will do her no good at the moment, Calpurnia switches the little beeper off.[break][break]

“I suppose we should do what we can.” Calpurnia murmurs to the cat at her feet. A true pragmatist, the feline makes no move to join the fray. He does not have stupid written across his forehead. Use someone else. This thought is further cemented as the first Pokemon is reincarnated as an ice sculpture. So, with a sigh, the woman trades the cat for a common, older Charizard. Signs of a life spent in a lab—including an ID tattoo—separate it from the other dragons on the field.[break][break]

She agrees with MATIAS SILPH. A path must be cleared before they can put this so-called god in its place. “Mel, darling--” Long nails clack irritably together. She waves irritably in Kyurem’s direction. “Clear a path with fire spin.” The direction of her spin made it clear she wanted a horizontal flume instead of a vertical one.[break][break]

With a grunt, the Charizard moved to obey.

The world was bleeding white, forcing color to hide beneath its cover. The only splash of vibrancy was those who stood before truth itself. Those draped in threads of gold and gestures of false nobility. Like all of them, Penelope was no different; she was a masquerade of promises overshadowed by action. A whispered apology followed by another act of violence.

"Careful, don't sacrifice our defense for a strong offense. lam logan has the right idea. We need to be prepared if either strikes back."

Her com's are to no one in particular-- possibly to anyone within maintaining communications. From there, though, attention was directed elsewhere. Namely to those who flashed their HBIC emblem between strikes.

This wasn't Team Rocket, or even Drk Trd. This was a world eater. One misstep would spill out more than just blood. Flesh, bone, intestines would all become on the menu. There would be no mercy.

From the looks, a path was being forged, but not much has changed. Ice still shielded the beast, and fire still burned.

Squeezing her hands into fists, a bubble of magma was summoned to her side. Unlike the one that populated their last AQUA assembly, this one appeared more contained. It gurgled out, but made no efforts in interfering with others, its perimeter maintained. And, within its silent churn, a figure emerged, flicking its tail to and fro. Bearing two sets of jade beads as eyes, the ruinous beast kept to its patron side, welcomed in a way never before seen. Together, they whetted their blade and sharpened their arrows in preparation of what was to come.

"kyle lopez, ke--" Words crumbled at the sight of ollie morales striking across the sky. Worry should be the last thing to clutch her heart - especially after he threw her away last month. Time and time again, disappointment raked their interactions, and yet, here she was, terrified at the thought of danger swallowing him whole. Penelope shook her head. There was too much at stake. "kyle lopez," she repeated herself, "Tell your pokemon to watch out! Don't want to burn him on accident."

Chi-yu sent forth an INFERNO toward the dragon, while Penelope pulled out a pillar of magma from the summoned bubble and compressed it into a comet. The two ribbons of scarlet red seared the sky through their flight, leaving a trail of smoke behind.

Finally, for the first time since their bond had forged, they would fight together, as one. PENELOPE LIVY would not be alone.[break][break]

"Hey! Over here!" Seeing DESIREE BLOOMS was both reassuring and nerve racking all in one. She looked to be able to handle herself in this tense situation, hell a lot of people could. Yet at the same time he heard Thomas Benoit's name leave her mouth and worry started to settle in. He remembered the chat long ago of how the guy was really down about losing one woman in his life before, Kaz would be damned before he let that happen to the man again.

Still it was better to keep his distance and keep his focus on the monster at hand. "Thomas! Don't hold anything back!" He shouted both over comms and the roaring flames that surrounded the beast. "Pyro Jack! Heat it up!" Deciding now was a good time to add to the fire the Rotom opened its door and a great flame spewed forth. HOpefully this blaze could melt the ice around the Dragon instead of leaving it totally unscathed. They needed a way to melt this Never-Melt-Ice somehow!

Oh, there was someone she knew at least. Her Tailwind had supported a few people around her position, though so far, they had mostly ignored her. So did Miss Pink, but that was okay. Violet was not exactly easy to spot. Wearing white in a blizzard, with most of her features being similarly pale, she was kind of camouflaged anyway.

Which was not helped by using a white-as-snow Pokemon, to boot. But given what she could see that group of people doing, that was probably about to change anyway. They were firing what they could from a position that seemed reasonably safe. No Tailwind needed to support that.

Instead, Violet recalled her Frosmoth. With those people around, she could likely do the other thing she wanted to do, anyway. Hence, she brought out her Mawile instead, before closing the distance between them. “Hey there,” she mostly notified the pinkette she knew from the mechanical kingdom, whom she very much hoped would not have any breakdowns today.

But instead of conversing further, she took up position so that she could use that force of people as a shield if need be and activated the bracelet under her layers of protection. That dimmed the light somewhat, but the power still reached her Mawile, absorbing light before erupting in it, another Mega Evolution taking place.

Once that was done, Violet pointed at the big threat and gave a simple order “Fire,” to which Mawile obliged, first inhaling deeply, then letting out the Mega-empowered Hyper Beam at their foe. That…probably was a bit flashier than anything she had shown Desiree before, but she was not going to hold back anything. Not against a Mythical deity. And, well, no cave that might collapse on them if hit by an errant beam here, either.

She could barely tell if the combatants on the front lines were making any progress forward or managing to disable—or even damage—the great Pokemon.

But for now, there were still so many wild Pokemon and trainers trapped in pillars and blocks of ice. In this kind of cold, they'd contract hypothermia and die for sure if they weren't freed quickly enough. Aurelie tore her gaze away from the dazzling, confounding spectacle of the battle to focus on melting and thawing out the unlucky captives caught by Kyurem's outburst.

Her Heatran exuded another HEAT WAVE toward an ice column, and a shivering Sneasel managed to stumble free. "Go, get going!" Aurelie told it sharply. "You don't want to get caught up in all this!"

A few feet away, she saw a Cetoddle starting to waddle away and breathed a sigh of relief that others were also staying back to help the injured, trapped Pokemon here. Then, behind her scarf and hood, Aurelie stared at the girl helping the Cetoddle along—at first in concern, and then in recognition.

Wasn't she at the chase for the Bloodmoon Beast in the swamp? the redhead thought, trying to distinguish details amid the whirling snow and Eris Halla' winter clothes. Even with all that, Aurelie was reasonably certain it couldn't be anyone else. What other girl her age would be out here in a dangerous place like this?

"Hey," she called out over the howling wind to the girl. "Want to work together to help out these poor Pokemon? Or we can split up the area to try and cover more ground."

Out of the newer people that joined up with the group she is with, only the red-headed councilwoman stands out since Councilwoman Livy is one of the people she respected even if they had met only once at the league holiday party. Elise switches out her Salamence and sent out her Aegislash as her comms comes on with the voice of the councilwoman giving the order to ready their defense. “Understood, Councilwoman PENELOPE LIVY , I will prepare to defend.” She responds back to the league comms over her mic before her knightly ghost sword turns to his lady for an order.[break][break]

We need all the defense we can muster.” The royal ambassador spoke to her Aegislash as Caliburn moves in front of the group of other leaguers and creates a strong barrier with King’s Shield. El's eyes light up, as a certain Isaac Merlo makes his appearance. "There you are!" They called overhead, from Akero's back - unable to help a warm smile. Even in all of this danger, the sight of Isaac put a spark of courage in El's heart.

But, perhaps Akero saw something coming that the others didn't. Because she would cease to heed the direction of El's reins - and putting up a Safeguard, would drift down as though to land...

"A-Akero? What's wrong-"

... as a fel icy wind buffets at the Togekiss. El yelps as they're ripped from her saddle and sent sprawling across the snow, the Safeguard protecting them; but Akero is not spared that same mercy. The young Ranger pushes themself back onto their feet, leaning into their cane, just in time to see as Akero is frozen solid. "Akero..!"

Their first instinct is to try and recall him - but something seems to be preventing it. Something about the ice..? They're not sure, but for a moment they are frozen metaphorically - staring at the frozen statue of their friend...

TLDR/NOTES:
- El is happy to see Isaac Merlo here and helping Eris Halla
- Togekiss seems to be anticipating something, as she uses a Safeguard and attempts to land...

- Akero frozen :pensive: El is spared via the Safeguard, but isn't happy.
