As much as Adrian would have enjoyed digging into Mars over it a while longer, the Unown began to shift. Or rather, they continued doing so, but the significance lied in the ping of a notification. If either of them bothered to check, they would see eleven new entries, but Mars would realize that much sooner than Adrian could even think to reach for his phone. After mulling over the discovery, they would still have fewer answers than new questions to ask.[break][break]

But it at least validated the merits of investigating further.[break][break]

"Did any of those locations stick out to you...?"[break][break]

There were connections between these places, though maybe not in the way they could see themselves, but something had made the Unown share this information then and there, all in one shot. The question was why...[break][break]

Adrian drew up a pictogram to help highlight the locations entered into the Unown Report just moments prior.[break][break]

Adrian could think of a number of things himself: A fair few of these points of interest were involved in various stages of the Ultra Space phenomenon that swept over Hoenn the previous few years. Space-time distortions were also beginning to appear by at least a handful of these areas.[break][break]

But nothing seemed to encapsulate the entire list, at least in his eyes, earning a soft scowl as he scoured his memory in vain. Perhaps there was a bigger picture behind it.[break][break]

One that even Shinigami Eyes wouldn't be able to see.[break]

Those moments are best reserved for life-saving, do-or-die moments, but maybe doing it for a bit of showboating and glorification wasn't a horrible time for it either. Anyway...[break][break]

Having ridden a Gyarados no small number of times, Adrian wants to kick off with the most difficult trick first, thinking himself above the more tame tricks that are more easily pulled off. Approaching a crest in the water, Adrian takes a deep breath before being pulled into the wave...[break][break]

[attr="class","adrianwtw"]Although their little sponsorship deal had pushed for it, Adrian entered the swimsuit contest to help support the conservation and relief efforts for marine wildlife, appealing to something of a tender spot for Rowan. Though whether he'd appreciate that more than seeing Adrian exposed to the masses, he couldn't be too certain...[break][break]

When it's Adrian's turn to take the stage, he's a toned alabaster stalking down the walkway, adorned in charcoal black to contrast. The swimwear barely covers enough to qualify, and it's snug against his figure where it forms skindentations. His intricate dragon sleeve tattoo runs the length of his right arm, while a trendy Henna tattoo from the boardwalk forms a band along his opposite bicep. Everything else is flesh, for better or worse.[break][break]

Even the neck garland in the form of his COMFEY is just that, wreathing his collarbone with seasonally appropriate fashion. The pokemon tends to its flowers while he jostles it around, forced to posture for those attending.[break][break]

Adrian stands at attention along their growing lineup, crossing his arms together casually while casting a disinterested, sideways glance towards elsewhere.[break][break]

And perhaps, to those paying attention, a flushed smile.

Pearls were an ideal gift for someone obsessed with the ocean, or at least that's what Adrian believed. Whether or not Rowan would appreciate it, he'd been building up a collection of Clamperl in his spare time, and this opportunity suited him well enough. Close to home, and there was promise of other rewards sunken to the bottom of the coastal waters.[break][break]

Blowing air through his rebreather periodically, Adrian can feel the ocean cooling him down over time. Despite the efficacy of his wet suit, his time down here was limited. Better find something soon. There was no time to be picky.[break][break]

The next shiny bauble or odd trinket he found, he snatched.[break][break]

An Unown specimen, representing "E" in their language, flitting about towards the cavern's ceiling-as if seeking escape. A being of such one-dimensional thought and action can hardly be expected to navigate this cave anymore accurately. Still though, Adrian wonders how it came to be here to begin with... Was it carved into the wall?[break][break]

Or was that simply the guise they took on?[break][break]

Maybe it had simply appeared here spontaneously.[break][break]

A swathe of his own Unown begin to amass in the area, acting like a beacon for the Unown's attention. Its lone eye latches onto them, seeing something Adrian's eyes cannot, before joining their ranks. Reunited with them it seems content, at least for the moment.[break][break]

After his own battle with the Dewford Gym Leader, Adrian feels confident someone here can help him whip his Kubfu into shape.[break][break]

Or at least get him to stop dozing off. They find their fitness coach in the form of an overzealous Scrafty, which falls upon Kubfu in a rain of verbal blows. Lazy. Unfocused. These words are a stain to Kubfu's pride, and utilized by its prospective teacher, the perfect motivator.[break][break]

[break]

After some well deserved ridicule, Kubfu falls in line. Scrafty is able to get bring out the resolve it was looking for, COACHING the Kubfu all the while. Maintain form. Concentrate. Progress can't be made with just blind flailing and building strength. After enough time spent with Scrafty, even Kubfu begins to BULK UP from the experience.[break][break]

While Kubfu is undergoing its training, Adrian is solicited for Kubfu's involvement in a promotional video for a local karate instructor. After some discussion, Adrian decides to go for it, and sure enough they manage to get some quality content for his latest promotional material:[break][break]

Thinking back on the Exodus Project manifest he'd received, it was clear either of them would prove valuable. Rather than take first pick, he'd wait to see which one Onyx claimed for themselves. He would take the scraps they left.[break][break]

He finds it unusual for someone not to know.[break][break]

"...They're at the center of what's been going on in Hoenn lately. Or at least, they're connected." That was the conclusion many had come to. But perhaps they weren't as closely related as one might expect, instead only loosely connected to the imminent dangers facing Hoenn. In any event, they would be careless and negligent not to use the resources provided to them. It may yet make the difference.[break][break]

Adrian pulls a device from out of his bag while a Runerigrus's phantasmal lines appear, as if it had always been there. After intercepting an attack to PROTECT its trainer, Runerigrus retaliated with a raking SHADOW CLAW from a hunk of upended earth from its flank.[break][break]

With the device in hand, he offers Onyx a glimpse at the UNOWN REPORT contained therein, and his list of personal entries, as well as unwittingly spilling the fact his own name was located within—if they had a keen eye for details.[break][break]

Ahead of Kubfu on the arena is a Croagunk, belonging to Sénon Game, who stands opposite Adrian on the far side of the arena. He feels stiff standing before a crowd, as opposed to how limber and relaxed Kubfu seems in its element. He's not keen on the match-up, but there's nothing for it but to try their damnedest. 'May the best mon win,' and all that...

After recognizing formalities, the match would soon be underway.

One arm bracing the shoulder as it limbers up its arms, Kubfu finishes its stretches, sizing up its croaking contender. Despite a rather ridiculous smile, one can't help but recognize the nerve on that one. Kubfu shows apprehension before rushing forward, balling a fist in preparation for a preemptive strike...

Waves turbulent with the writhing of a veritable swarm of Gyarados, their serpentive bodies like the teeming tendrils of a KRAKEN undulating through the waves, snaking their way like feelers closing in on their quarry. Nothing can approach them for fear of their reprisal, ending in evisceration. Trainers are being asked to help remove them so that the Slateport Splashfest can safely take place.[break][break]

From the shoreline Adrian unleashes Furor in a flash of red resplendent. Its tail leaves a trench where it passes through the shallows and into deeper waters, calling out to the wyrms in their frenzy. It is not likely they will respond favorably in their agitation, but any trainer would know that.[break][break]

When their efforts at resolving it peacefully are left marooned, they resort to less refined methods; Adrian raises a finger and twirls his hand at the wrist, and the red Gyarados begins circling the swarm, maybe to box them in. Most are outraged at everything that isn't Gyarados, so at first they simply continue their riotous writhing through coastal waters. It isn't until a lone Gyarados breaks away from the swarm that Furor seems to react. Its path jerks into a collision course with the brute, baring its fangs.[break][break]

Engage.[break][break]

Somewhere on the shore, Adrian's wristband lights up with the shimmer of a keystone, causing a change in Furor. With its added bulk, his Gyarados can go right for the throat—[break][break]

Execute.[break][break]

[break]

Furor's BALEFUL BRUX digs into the wild Gyarados' scaled hide before thrashing it in the waters, tossing it aside with a triumphant bellowing that grates his ears even from afar.[break][break]

Exemplify.[break][break]

With every trainer that arrived to help pacify the Gyarados, their numbers would dwindle, until the horde eventually moved on from the coastline to open waters.[break][break]
