I have to get back to work,” she smiles and gently squeezes the child’s shoulder before disappearing into the crowd. Eva learned a long time ago that Eris Halla didn’t her to make sure she was safe. The child would be fine amongst the celebrating Hoennians.

Plus, to cope with the building pressures of the meteor and everything else that seemed to be bursting at the seems, Eva preferred to distract herself with work – hence actually working the Mainstage Even rather than enjoying it at the bar with her loved one.

Suddenly, the world shifts, her stomach drops, and the familiar pull through space and time makes her fingers curls and the nausea sets in. Her vision is blurred with purple flashes of lightning and quickly darkening skies, “Oh no,” she groans, gaining her bearings before she finds the pokeballs on her hip.

“Find shelter! Now!” she commands to the bystanders as she releases an URSARING and STANTLER into the fray. Immediately, the Ursaring is overcome by the energy. The pokemon swells, growling as it shifts within a bright light, evolving into URSALUNA. The bear roars, large, sharp claws SLASHING at the closest rogue pokemon that dare come too close.

Stantler, on the other and, doesn’t evolve – not yet. For some reason, the pokemon is resistant to the energy. Instead, it picks up a new move, PSYSHIELD BASH that it uses to drive away an angry Gengar.

The rift coming in. The sky opening. Was this the meteor? The thing he wanted so? The battle that would either establish him as a force to be reckoned with, or kill him on the spot. Either way, he wouldn’t be forgotten ever again. Right infront of Katherine Fairburne and MATIAS SILPH he stood from his seat and yelled. “This is what every man should strive for!”

Casey then took off, jewelry jingling like bells on a cat. He ran off to the rift. This meant rushing the stage. This meant rushing through a crowd of people. A half-hearted wave for Summer Atreides and DANNY HALL . The people he thought he knew best. But he ran through the crowd. Shirtless. A full sprint towards danger and uncertainty.

He climbed onto the elevated stage, looking up at the sky as if waiting for a fight. Sweating bullets. He called out his Duraludon, and looked around for the threat, smiling ear to ear. “Let’s have at it, then.”

The sky darkened. Time and space warped. As he adjusted to this from the relaxed afternoon, he couldn’t help but experience jet lag. Eye-bags dipped just above his cheekbones. But he was there. Ready.

Somewhere in the crowd Howitzer flees from Rowan and company's sides to rally on Adrian, who coincidentally is facing off with a familiar albeit unfriendly face...[break][break]

He's seen this sort of thing before in a Growlithe, somewhere underneath Dewford Town, in the tunnels spanning Granite Cave. But this thing was large enough to take out a nice piece of Adrian for itself if it wanted. And it definitely seemed to have something along those lines in mind for the paltry piece of meat known as Adrian.[break][break]

Quickly he releases Furor to help quell the beast's aggression, and yet it punctures the leviathan's impervious scales with relative ease. There is more to this creature he realizes, than he can tell at a glance. And while it not only boasts some latent talent or potential, it also lacks the civility of a typical species. It goes right for his throat.[break][break]

Howitzer does not allow that to happen. Bounding towards the stage at the first sign of trouble, it scents the aggressor, leaping onto the raised platform in a torrent of sand that flies past it initially. Blindsided by her offensive, the Hisuian Arcanine is caught in the full berth of the SCORCHING SANDS.[break][break]

It's enough to put it out of commission then and there.[break][break]

Momentarily stunned, he reaches out a hand and runs his fingers through Howitzer's fur, which rises with anxious tension that his touch only slightly eases. She turns and looks at him, standing just ahead of him guardingly.[break][break]

"Thanks girl." He rummages for an unused pokeball while singing her praises, capturing the strange Arcanine parallel. This doesn't make Howitzer any less wary of the ongoing distortion, so he decides to follow her to Rowan Wrynn and the others. Along the way he plucks a piece of RED SHARD from off the sandy shoreline, adding it to the growing collection.

The crowd roars, after the performance, Callan watches as the hundreds of thousands of fans scream. His fingers burned, scraped raw by the constant play on the guitar, the sweltering heat was almost unbearable in the getup. It had taken him 30 years to get up on this stage, and at this moment, he felt that it was worth it.

"THANK YOU!" He roars into the mic. Before he walks off stage, he takes out a black marker in his pocket, signs his Ibanez, then lobs the electric guitar into the crowd, returning his Toxtricity into its Pokeball and exiting the stage with Adrian Malcolm.

It was not long however, before chaos ensued again, as a space-time distortion rips just above the pokemon stage, Callan's ranger training kicks in. "Everyone outside now!" He calls out within the confines of the dressing room. Callan kicks open the emergency exist and breaks the fire emergency glass to trigger the alarm system as he funnels the remainder of the staff outside.

Crowd crush was going to be a concern, but even he knew with how cramped outside was, there was no way that he would be able to control it. The irony of being a willing instigator just moments beforehand did not escape him.

Just as the exit opens up, a large rift tears into the building, revealing what seemed to be a massive bear Pokemon, three times the size of anything else in the dressing room. Without much room to manuever, Callan manages, just in time to launch an open Ultra Ball at the Ursaluna, before hopping out of the backstage area.

Ruby had expected most of the music to be playing to be crappy pop, but she was pleasantly surprised to find some good rock tunes being performed. Yet when TERAVOLT started their next song, Ruby scowled. Yeah, these are horrid times for damn sure. But the themes of coping with a vice reminded her too much of her mother. She tried to tune out the lyrics and pay attention to her sister, who also had a pensive look on her face. Ruby put a hand on her shoulder in a flimsy attempt at solidarity and comfort, over which Jade placed her own hand.

[break][break]Jade noticed the change in the air first, gasping and tightening her grasp on her sister's hand when she did. A moment later, Ruby, too, tasted the static. She looked up to see violet strokes being painted across the sky. She'd never seen a space-time distortion in person, but she'd seen the news enough to know what they looked like and just how dangerous they were. She didn't have time to think about why this was happening here and now; she had to get Jade to safety.

[break][break]"Shit, it's a distortion!" she shouted above the swell of the panicked crowd. Security was acting fast to evacuate people, but Ruby wasn't just going to sit idly by. "Atlas, follow me!"

[break][break]Jade's Machamp grabbed the push handles of his trainer's wheelchair and followed Ruby toward the edge of the distortion. But then, with a flash of light and a crack that left Ruby's ears ringing, a Pokémon appeared before them. It reminded Ruby of a Stantler with thick, white fur and bigger antlers. The deer-like Pokémon reared up with a bellow, distorted light glinting off the gemstones in its antlers.

[break][break]"Get Jade out of here!" Ruby shouted. "I'll hold it back!"

[break][break]"But Ruby—!" Jade started.

[break][break]"I'll be fine! Just go!"

[break][break]She tossed Grimm's Poké Ball into the fray. Sensing the danger, the Scyther lunged forward with Fury Cutter without even waiting for a command. Atlas hesitated for only a moment before taking the opportunity to push Jade to safety. Her cry for Ruby only steeled the older Garcia's determination to get this thing out of the way.

[break][break]The Wyrdeer's gemstones glowed as it was surrounded by a barrier of Psychic energy, and then it lowered its head and charged forward. Grimm was knocked back, forcing Ruby to sidestep to avoid a collision. "Come on, Grimm, you've got th—urgh!" Ruby was interrupted by the feeling of gravity pressing down on her, forcing her to her knees. Grimm, too, knelt down; the only one seemingly not affected was the Wyrdeer itself, which snorted and lowered its head again, this time aiming at Ruby. No, no, not like this, she couldn't go down like this...! Yet try as she might to struggle against the pressure above her, she couldn't bring herself to stand.

[break][break]There was a white glow in the corner of her vision. She turned toward it to see it was coming from... Grimm? Was she evolving? But the shape was too blocky to be a Scizor. The still-shifting Grimm launched herself forward and slammed her growing scythe down on the Wyrdeer. But it wasn't a scythe anymore; it was an axe made of sharpened black stone. The Wyrdeer bellowed with pain as the Stone Axe from a fully evolved Kleavor cut right through its Psychic armor.

[break][break]Gravity began to lighten again, allowing Ruby to struggle to her feet with a grunt. What the hell had Grimm turned into? Was this a result of the distortion? Whatever it was, it had saved her ass and given her an opening to escape. "Grimm, let's go!" she shouted. Luckily, this strange evolution hadn't changed Grimm's loyalties, and she promptly followed her trainer out of the distortion.

[break][break]Ruby didn't care who saw her embrace her worried sister once they'd reunited outside.

BARNABY FINCH, the best reporter in all of Hoenn? He certainly thought so, but then again his hubris knew no bounds. Still, it felt good to hear others say as much. Even more so when the compliment came from Martín del Mar's lips.

"Keep talking like that and you'll make me blush." Something Mars was all too familiar with.

"I'll play nice, though. Promise." He assured, reciprocating the other's touch and leaning into where their shoulders met. At this point, the concert music was simply background noise, filtered out by a mind occupied by much more important things. Like looking into those stunning amber eyes, stealing glances at those perfect lips.

"We should do things like these more often."

"We should." Barnaby didn't particularly mean the concert, either. "I would love tha—"

A familiar, chilling din cut him off before he could finish. Just above them, over the mainstage, the sky cracked up and monstrous Pokémon began to spill out. A space-time distortion - here? Now? What rotten luck.

He pulled away, warm thoughts immediately replaced by calculating ones.

"Shit! We need to take care of these Pokémon." Already chaos had descended on the event: concertgoers shrieked and scattered, attempting to flee, but the crowd had been so tightly packed it would take time for all of them to vacate. Meanwhile aggressive monsters from the distortion wasted no time attacking whatever or whoever was in reach.

Near them an odd-looking LILLIGANT appeared, waving it's arms in obvious hostility. Barnaby released his GROWLITHE to defend them, ordering it to chomp down with a strong FIRE FANG. As the canine carried out it's orders a dark energy began to emanate from it. Could it be...?

Prance's hooves clopped against Slateport's pavement as she and Shalin crossed the street to Splashfest's festival grounds. She was on her way to the Mantine docks, though all visitors would need to go through the Mainstage area in order to track attendance numbers. Ans as she did, she heard a deafening boom not unlike the one at the peak of Meteor Falls, arcs of lightning flashing seemingly at random in the vicinity of the stage.

Dozens of angry Pokémon with blood red eyes seemingly warped into existence, all of them extremely large for their size. Two that warped in next to Shalin, a giant Vaporeon and Flareon, immediately flung their bodied toward Prance. She tried to stop it by flinging a Poké Ball at the giant Vaporeon. The water-type retaliated by flinging its giant tail like a whip, flicking the Poké Ball back at Prance as a deadly projectile.

With a great distance between the two, Prance had just enough time to form a mental shield around herself and Shalin. She lowered her horns and charged toward the Vaporeon with PSYSHIELD BASH, ramming and trampling the dumbfounded, red-eyed water Pokémon. The mental shield also kept Shalin safe from the Flareon's FLAMETHROWER follow-up, though how long that shield would last was entirely based on how long Prance could maintain her mental focus.

If this Flareon and Vaporeon were as difficult to fight as the giant dragons were, Shalin was better off trying to hide. Unfortunately, with the ground being mostly flat. She swapped ride Pokémon from Prance to Flit. She wanted to hop on and fly away, but the Flareon was already on the case; it exhaled a rapid-fire Flamethrower that singed his wings, downing him in a single blow. Desperate to get in the air, she did the same with Queen Zing, only to see the same result. That was two of her Pokémon down and a third badly injured. She needed to end this now, either by dropping them both or getting them to back down from an extremely powerful attack.

Shalin lowered her feet to be as flat as she could, withdrawing her Wyrdeer and nailing the landing from recalling her mount out from underneath herself. She released Sandy, her Flygon, and put her earplugs back in as quickly as she could. "COVER YOUR EARS!" the girl shouted to no one in particular. "Sandy, use your BOOMBURST!" she cried, covering her ears despite also having her earplugs in. She needed both, too; Sandy answered the command by vibrating her wings at full speed and power. The destructive shriek that followed was the source of a shockwave that blew the two Pokémon off their feet. While it wasn't strong enough to take them both down, the Vaporeon did blink away from the Spacetime Distortion. With only one Pokémon to deal with now, Shalin withdrew her Flygon, then disappeared into a mass of people to try to lose the Flareon's trail.

Nomi smiled politely, but her mind was whirling: there was simply too much going on for her to keep up. Marshall Slade was telling some crazy story in an extremely animated fashion, Xiura Balfaltin was asking if Nomi had been to an event like this before, and lots of other people were chatting loudly all around them - not to mention, the music was surging, reaching its highest pitch yet. For whatever reason, Nomi's eyes locked with Tam Fawley's for half a second, and she realized that he, too, wasn't necessarily feeling comfortable: in fact, he seemed exhausted. Though she barely knew him, it made her want to reach out to him, and reassure him that she, too, was struggling with this degree of socialization. Perhaps she could suggest that they go in search of drinks to help them COPE with the crowd, but before she could say anything to him, someone screamed.

"What in the world?" Nomi murmured, trying to find the source of the terrified sound. It was easy enough, as more voices began to rise - and not in song this time - but in confusion and fear. Looking up, Nomi's eyes widened as she took in the sight of the sky going completely dark, the only source of light coming from the main stage itself and from crackling streaks of purple lightning. The air hummed with a potent electric energy, and Nomi's vision suddenly blurred as she tried to discern what was going on. As if this big party wasn't crazy enough!

About to yell out to her friends that they should probably take cover, Nomi was prevented once more from speaking as something knocked her to the ground. Val was at her side in an instant, and she held onto his back for support. It felt strange all of a sudden - like she was spinning through some kind of portal - and her head ached as her awareness of her surroundings began to slip. She wondered vaguely if anyone around her was hurt. "I should help them..." she muttered through gritted teeth, forcing her consciousness back to the present moment.

Suddenly, Nomi felt a hand on her shoulder. "This way, Ma'am! We're evacuating the area!" Stumbling to her feet, Nomi noticed something red and shiny by Val's front paws. Without thinking, she kneeled back down and grabbed it, before the sea of bodies around her began to usher her and the Sylveon away from the stage.

"Not this shit again." Derek utters before lunging forward into the thick of it with a pokeball plucked from his pocket. While Jonesy occupied his shoulder, the Machamp that came out would stand with it's trainer against whatever foe opposed them.

This so happened to be a HISUIAN SAMUROTT.

"Looks strong, Randal. You got this?" Stepping forward with two arms beating on it's chest while the others flexed, their opponent accepted the challenge. The battle was swift, with Randal delivering a dynamic punch that confused the Samurott, who only hurt itself further trying to retaliate. "Guess it wasn't that strong after all."

Randal nods in affirmation while the gym leader uses a vacant pokeball to capture the pokemon for himself.

after their toast, he lowers his glass right in time to see something happening on stage. it doesn't take him too long to connect the dots, remembering his conversation with Laurence Anderson as well as all the things he's read about them.[break][break]

"shit. is that like those distortions that have been popping up?"[break][break]

and before he can say much else, a discolored qwilfish comes lunging out at them. he meets it with a pokeball, quick to react before either one of them got poisoned.

As Teravolt's set ended, Zev breathed a sigh of relief, his body sagging slightly from the release of tension. "Glad that's over," he said with a grin at Aurelie.[break][break]

Then the sky darkened and lightning crackled over the mainstage. Confused, Zev whirled around. His eyes widened at the sight — but also because the scene reminded him instantly of an earlier trip to Meteor Falls.[break][break]

Before he could react, a flood of panicked people ran out of the venue, guided by officers in uniform and Rangers in civilian clothes. Zev watched the stampede. He was certain some people were going to come out of the chaos with injuries, either from the escape or from the strange, aggressive Pokémon that tended to spawn during this phenomenon.[break][break]

"Get out of here!" he yelled at Aurelie as he simultaneously released his Lycanroc from her Pokéball. Luna sniffed the air and howled loudly, her hackles raised, her tail upright.[break][break]

It seemed most of the fighting against the wild Pokémon was taking place inside the venue, but a few escaped as they chased the terrified audience. Zev set his Lycanroc on them, protecting who they could. All the while, he kept an eye out for jack wainwright in the crowd.[break][break]

At some point, a young woman tripped and fell in front of Zev. He immediately helped her back on her feet so she wouldn't be trampled by the horde. When she was gone, he looked back down and saw something small and red on the ground where she'd fallen. Quickly, he picked it up.
