MERIT POINT (MP) SYSTEM

THE MP SYSTEM will be utilized in your single prelude thread for "The First Wave". The MP System is an event exclusive feature that rewards the writer with merit points for fulfilling particular objectives, prompts, and using on-site mechanics.[break][break]

This system is inspired by an older Pokemon site, Predormitum. On that site, they called it "War Effort Points (WEP)".[break][break]

The MP System is designed to encourage several things:[break][break]

• Rewarding acquisition and use of on-site mechanics (e.g. mega evolution)
• Relieving anxiety around "winning" and "losing".
• Exploration of character weakness and vulnerability.
• Development of character relationships and connectivity.
• Development of conflict, themes, and character motivation.

To earn MP, utilize the prompts listed in the box below. For best practice, keep track of your MP gain in your prelude in your notes.[break][break]

MECHANIC-BASED MP

• 10 MP using a gimmick (e.g. mega, z-move, tera, sygna, avatar) in your prelude thread. only redeemable once.
• 25 MP for knocking out another Pokemon in your prelude thread.
• 50 MP for getting your Pokemon knocked out in your prelude thread.
• 100 MP for getting your Pokemon killed (does not stack with KO) in your prelude thread.

NARRATIVE-BASED MP (REDEEMABLE ONCE)

• 50 MP have an antagonistic exchange of dialogue between your character and another writer's character or NPC.
• 50 MP showcase your own character's strength(s) meaningfully.
• 50 MP have your character directly or indirectly spotlight another writer's character's strengths.
• 50 MP have your character be injured by another's pokemon directly or indirectly.
• 50 MP have your character "hit rock bottom" (their lowest point).
• 50 MP have your character self-doubt or cast doubt on another's confidence/allegiances/beliefs, etc.
• 50 MP have your character reflect on why they're fighting/reflect on their loyalties.
• 50 MP have your character become inspired or consoled by another writer's character (tag them).
• 50 MP have your character make a regrettable decision.
• 50 MP have your character make a sacrifice of some kind.
• 50 MP have your character's Pokemon symbolize or represent in some way, the condition of your character.
• 50 MP showcase a meaningful moment between your character and their Pokemon.
• 50 MP have your character experience great fear, hatred, envy, or have a grudge worsen.
• 50 MP have your character experience great pride, joy, relief, or have confidence grow.
• 50 MP have your character recall a past thread or event that they have participated in or not (link the thread).
• 50 MP include a motif or recurring symbol of some kind in your thread.

POST/COMPLETION-BASED MP

• 10 MP per IC post in your prelude thread.
• 100 MP for completing your prelude.
• 200 MP for "winning" or having a "positive" outcome for your character and their prelude.
• 250 MP for "tying" or having a "neutral" outcome for your character and their prelude.
• 300 MP for "losing" or having a "negative" outcome for your character and their prelude.

The BARE MINIMUM AMOUNT OF MP RECEIVED from a completed prelude thread should be 350 MP.[break][break]

Writers must decide whether they want to spend or save their characters' Merit Points for MP shop purchases and/or for future events utilizing MP.[break][break]

WARNING: Ensure that you are fulfilling these prompts meaningfully out of respect for your own writing and your writing partner's. Attempting to shove every single prompt into a single thread will likely result in a choppy, incoherent and incohesive narrative.

BELOW are a list of rewards you can redeem for MP. More rewards may be added to the shop and values are subject to change. Thank you for your understanding.[break][break]

	POKEBALL - 10 MP
	SHARD - 10 MP (1/1)[break] a shard in the color of your choice. you can only redeem ONE.
	INCENSE - 50 MP (1/1)[break] can be used in the SITE SHOP to request a pokemon incense can be used in solo wilds to ensure only one type of pokemon can be spawned from the location's available types. indicate in moderation requests that you are using an incense, and with every subsequent spawn request. you can only redeem ONE.
	GACHAPON TICKET - 75 MP (3/3)[break] you can only redeem THREE.
	PREMIUM GACHAPON TICKET - 100 MP (3/3)[break] can be exchanged for 1x PREMIUM GACHAPON TICKET. you can redeem this even if your character DOES NOT HAVE 50 POSTS.you can only redeem THREE.
	MEGA SHARD - 100 MP (1/1)[break] you can only redeem ONE.
	SHINY SWAP - 125 MP (1/1)[break] can be used to change your character's pokemon into its shiny colors, or reverts its shiny color. you can only redeem ONE.
	TERA SHARD - 125 MP (1/1)[break] can be used to add to the tera-types your pokemon can terastallize into. the type of the tera shard is your choice. you can only redeem ONE.
	SILVALLY MEMORY - 150 MP (1/1)[break] can be used to change the types of a silvally and its MULTI-ATTACK or used in the team rocket chop shop. the type of the memory is your choice. you can only redeem ONE.
	MEGA STONE - 200 MP (1/1)[break] can be used to mega evolve a pokemon; requires a purchase of a MEGA ACCESSORY in the SITE SHOP. you can only redeem ONE.
	LEGENDARY CANDY - 200 MP (1/1)[break] the FULL EVOLUTION item has been replaced by the LEGENDARY CANDY item for clarification and differentiation purposes. this item evolves MELTAN, TYPE:NULL, POIPOLE and KUBFU. you can only redeem ONE.
	MYTHICAL PECHA BERRY - 250 MP (1/1)[break] can be exchanged for a toxic chained pokemon at the atelier of anomalies shop. you can only redeem ONE.
	SHADOW SLUDGE - 250 MP (1/1)[break] can be exchanged for a shadow pokemon at the atelier of anomalies shop. you can only redeem ONE.
	CRYSTABLOOM - 250 MP (1/1)[break] can be exchanged for an illumina pokemon at the atelier of anomalies shop. you can only redeem ONE.
	HEATRAN - 300 MP (1/1)[break] can be exchanged for a heatran (moves chosen like a gachapon pokemon). you can only redeem ONE.
	DEFECTIVE GENESECT - 300 MP[break] (LEAGUE ONLY; 1/1)[break] can be exchanged for a defective genesect that has been pilfered from petalburg city's warfront. the league does not have the same resources as team rocket in the creation of these war machines.[break][break] subsequently, defective genesect can only learn 3 moves maximum and their move, Techno Blast, is always Normal-type. you can only redeem ONE.
	SPECTRIER OR GLASTRIER - 500 MP (1/1)[break] can be exchanged for a spectrier or glastrier (moves chosen like a gachapon pokemon). you can only redeem ONE.
	EXTRA MOVE SLOT - 1250 MP (1/1)[break] grants a pokemon of your choice an extra move slot. if they already have a 7th move slot from a kasib berry, this grants the pokemon their 8th and final move slot. you can only redeem ONE.
