A SWARM OF SMEARGLE HAVE APPEARED IN THE NEWLY CREATED GREAT CHASM. Several of these Smeargle have been able to use powerful moves: SPATIAL REND, ROAR OF TIME... However, reports of never before seen phenomenon begin flooding in. When these Smeargle attempt to use these moves, signature attacks of Legendary or Mythical Pokemon, an ominous sign manifests before them:[break][break]



Even curiouser, Smeargle who attempt to use these moves again find that they can not anymore. Those who are in tune with The DRK Triad's warnings will see this as a close call...[break][break]

LORE/MECHANIC NOTE: Arceus has interfered, but has not perceived any further. Smeargle can not sketch signature "Legendary/Mythical Moves" anymore, nor can they use them if Sketched. If your Smeargle already has such moves, they can be replaced by Sketch for free.[break][break]

The only current exception is SPRINGTIDE STORM.

  • the highest roll will earn a SHINY SMEARGLE with the NORMAL TERA-TYPE; the second highest roll will earn a REGULAR SMEARGLE, the second lowest roll will net a REGULAR SMEARGLE, and the lowest roll will net a SHINY SMEARGLE. the gender of the pokemon can be decided by the recipient.
  • the attempted capture will not consume a pokéball.

Captain was kind of an older guy. Captain being his own Smeargle. The lil guy had helped raise Skipper up good, but the Riolu was a big Lucario now. Temp worried the guy had some empty nest syndrome, so he was hoping to come down and find a little buddy for his friend.[break][break]

There was a big of movement. Without waiting to see if it was a Smeargle or a stiff breeze, he flung a pokeball.

There was a lull in the chasm, a draw- one that Desiree had grappled with since the day her metatarsals cracked and fractured, initially that which she wished not to entertain. When she looked back at the slit in the earth that had been left, both in her mind and now through her eyes, she felt anger just as she felt sadness. Had she been able to leave with more than just her life torn to pieces, the peace that came before the storm, she would have felt different.. and it hurt to know just how different that day could have gone. [break][break]

But she figured forcing herself to relive the traumas that took root in the icy thicket was a better option than letting them sit, as they were still so fresh in her mind. To become acquainted with the darkness as a means to further cast out anxieties; she could not let the chasm exist as an aspect in the corner, constantly feared but never confronted. This time, she appeared still, ready for whatever could even dream of sprouting from its folds and tufts. She hoped she would be enough to brave this alone, her first trip into the dangers since it had all unfolded. With all that pent-up rage inside of her, a bitter malice that seeped in farther than any oil paints BOB ROSS could ever spread across his canvas.[break][break]

She wanted to use those events as an outline of what not to repeat- no openings for a bone to crumble, no openings for a mythological beast to tear love from the hands of all the beautiful souls. No possibility of ever letting the hands of the cosmos, those vile, sharp knuckles that resided behind talons of power, touch a single one that she had grown to love more than herself. "Descend, my love," she spoke to the Tropius, the other whimsical souls following suit, ".. it looks to be a tear of space."[break][break]

A SPATIAL REND, that which had been momentarily painted across the canvas was the deep overworld trench by a Smeargle. Some part of her wondered what it would be like to throw herself off the back of the tree pokemon.. what her body would sound like within the sea of stars. What it would be like to pass through that strange, golden arch that existed before it. Yet that would leave all of her friends without her, without another soul that was dedicated to the pure preservation of what she believed to be the truest virtue of this world. She needed to be there to protect them, to allow their ability to love to prevail. And.. none of them knew that she was here, not a soul.[break][break]

She did not know what to make of the golden insignia. Perhaps a coincidence of nature, perhaps nothing. Or, with the previous emergence of the mountainous Kyurem and its translator of golden rings, perhaps so much more. Divine meddling in the cosmos, especially from what had emerged in these lands, led her to believe that it could have been the GENIE lurking in the cracks after its departure.[break][break]

Sharp emotions were not directed at the painter pokemon, but rather at anything that could have brought them to weave such complex, powerful motifs. They did not deserve to be meddled with, they deserved to be loved. Spinning a pokeball through the air with a sharp throw, during a dip inward, she released a pained breath. If there was a way to use these strange, abnormal abilities against KYUREM and anything similar to its likeness.. she could not pass up the opportunity. She wanted to. She needed to.[break][break]

But what could ever be enough when facing those that could rip a slit just like this one?[break][break]

A shimmering gold symbol appeared in the air before the Smeargle as it whipped its paint-brush tail in a sweeping arc. Pink energy had begun to coalesce - the telltale sign of a SPATIAL REND - but then abruptly dissipated, replaced by the symbol. Kallistatus buzzed next to her, gyrating with excitement. She glanced at it, crimson eyes widening with realization.[break][break]
The shiny Unown-K had seen this symbol before.[break][break]
"DRK Triad?" She hissed, tensing.[break][break]
But as she turned her attention back to the symbol, she felt a sudden weight on her subconscious, as if a great eye were peering into her soul. It reminded her of the Presence she often felt within the Unown Dimension. Her skin prickled, and for a split-second, it was as if everything around her was melting - the great chasm and its many Tera crystals transforming into a Salvador Dalí landscape of surreal anomalies. Nomi blinked, eyes watering, and everything returned to normal. Had she hallucinated the sudden changes? Or - [break][break]
"I need one of those Smeargle," she decided, pulling out a Pokeball. Something strange was going on here, and it reeked of DRK Triad. Of the supernatural.[break][break]

Though the strange phenomena was alarming, the fact that there was a gathering of Smeargle caught the Kalosian's attention. Given their ability to copy any move they see, after sketching it once, their utility was near-limitless. Given how many roles they could fulfill, one could say they were the Leonardo da Vinci of Pokemon.

Thomas spotted one of these bipedal canines. Taking his shot, Thomas tossed a Pokeball towards it, hoping for the best.

Going to the Giant Chasm to see the Smeargle in their swarm in spite of the danger going around would be a bit dangerous for the ambassador, but Elise ends up taking her Solosis with her. The little psychic type was a Unovan native Pokemon that the young woman ended up rescuing from its injuries out in the wild and when she had taken it to Pokemon Home the other day, the other rangers dressed up its wounds after Elise took Ness in.[break][break]

One of the Smeargle approaches the duo of ambassador and her Solosis where the small floating psychic type Pokemon looks over to the normal type with its cap and paintbrush-like tail. Perhaps Ness was curious of the Smeagle living there since the Kyurem incident though the Solosis noted that the golden light coming from one of the Smeargles dies down.[break][break]

Letting Ness play around with the Smeargle, the Galarian princess wondered if that golden light would be one of the signature moves of a legendary Pokemon that those Smeargle couldn’t do it anymore. As Elise pulls out a Dusk Ball out of her pack, she tosses it at one of the other Smeargle that came by.[break][break]

the collection of dogs in the same place of interest seemed more than a coincidence to bait kyle in, and it was successful.

he dons his sygna suit and activates it with the appearance of his smeargle. the sense of being a michelangelo of their generation fills him as they sync, ordering his smeargle to imprison each of the wild pokemon to stop them from wasting their precious sketch.

pseudo-avatarship takes place afterwards, with kyle borrowing his pokemon's moves. as he attempts roar of time, a sense of dread weighs him down with pressure.

a sigil appears above him, and he feels the similar implications of imprison being set upon him.

his heart starts to beat fast. he had a similar warning before, when he attempted to break through the limitations of space travel set during the meteno crisis.

his smeargle turns his back on his trainer, sensing the uneasiness he rarely felt during syncs that differs from the fear and panic that occurs during fights against the supernatural.

kyle swallows, gives up on a strat to ensure a capture of one, and tosses a pokeball at one of the smeargle.

Crystal light streams down into that hole in the world, the omnipresent Terastal scars casting a glow of some description over the chasm. An ominous glow? An inviting one? It was all in the eye of the dreamer, surely.[break][break]

Something has shifted. The world brushes up against Judgment and is bound by a new law, one with no respect for artistic integrity. Alba watches time flicker around a Smeargle and its dumb little face, only for it to be startled by a sigil appearing in thin air. An eye, maybe. Or an X. Something that no matter how you looked at it, said one thing: THIS IS FORBIDDEN.[break][break]

But really, if Alba cared about laws and forbiddances, he wouldn't have thrown his lot in with the biggest organised crime group in the world. And so with Poké Ball in hand, he takes his shot...

Ever since the landscape had changed and the great chasm had opened up within the tundras, chaos as in abundance. Pokemon of all kinds were coming out of nowhere it seemed, and even Pokemon that were familiar to the region were exhibiting strange and rather devastating behaviors.[break]
No longer was the surrounding area peaceful like the park portrayed by Georges Seurat, instead Smeargle were all over the place and causing quite the scene, so Yuina and Daikenki moved into the area to try and start mitigating the damages done and making sure that these strangely erratic Smeargle couldn't cause too much harm to the surrounding areas...

Dressed in layers, Jack had returned to the Silent Icelands to investigate the strange occurrences in the Giant Chasm. Watching from his hiding place as the strange symbols of forbiddance appeared in front of the swarming Smeargle sent goosebumps up and down his arms.[break][break]

What could be causing such weird behavior? And what has the power to stop pokemon from using moves?[break][break]

The growls of his Boltund caused him to turn, finding a Smeargle approaching them from behind. As power glittered around the pokemon, Jack threw a pokeball before whatever move it had sketched turned them into a Jackson Pollock painting on the cavern wall.[break][break]

What in the name of—

Why were there Smeargle waggling their tails like they were trying to summon some kind of power, only to have it suddenly be blocked by this weird-ass looking… huh.

“What in the living hell.”

He could only watch on in silent wonder, wondering why the Smeargles were looking at each other in a panic, much like a very iconic painting called The Scream by some… some guy.

Look, Arashi wasn’t that great with famous names, but he knew that this particular picture was one of eternal shock.

But of what?



(Did like, someone actually flash the poor person in that painting? Why couldn’t he remember the guy’s name who painted it?! Was it Edvard Munch or something?)

“Honestly, what the fuck, Hoenn.”

He then took aim, before chucking a Pokéball at the closest one while his Steelix, Alex Louis, rumbled his amusement at the scenario unfolding before him.

What strange behavior. Eva’s eyes narrowed on the small group of Smeargle huddled together at the edge of the GREAT CHASM. Their coordinated SPATIAL RENDs twisted the matter of the world around them like the melting clocks of DALI’s paintings.

It was mesmerizing, and terrifying, at the same time.

Eve more strange was the symbol that halted their bending in its tracks, “Huh,” Eva huffed, her brows knitting together in a concentrated calculation. She glanced sideways at the RotomPhone hovering beside her. It chirped quietly, reading her mind to indicate they collected the requested data, “Good work,” she praised, snatching the phone out of the air and placing it back in her pocket. She plucked an empty pokeball off her side to toss towards one of the Smeargle of the group.

When Frank heard about the chasm's appearance in the Silent Icelands from his new bosses, he decided to check it out, drawn by the thrilling promise of its danger. With his Alolan Persian at his side, he trudged through thick snow to reach the fissure in the earth. [break][break]

"Damn, Rex, look at all that," Frank marveled aloud as he gazed upon the glittering innards of the region from the canyon's edge. The Tera Crystals reminded him of a painting he saw once in a museum—some Cubist offshoot by SONIA DELAUNAY called 'Market at Minho'. [break][break]

But Rex was not paying attention, for something else had caught his attention: several Smeargle, looking lost and confused, a short distance away. The Persian stalked toward them, springing upon one with PLAY ROUGH. [break][break]

"Hey! Rex!" Frank called out when he heard the commotion. Jogging over, he threw a Pokéball to try and capture one the Smeargle tussling with his cat. [break][break]
