INCOMPETENCE
INCORPORATED Supply versus demand; quality over quantity — an age old question of which takes precedence is put to rest through a League sanctioned experiment. The long awaited aftermath leads to several investigations with nothing but dead ends. Fed up with a weak bottom line, Silph looks to rectify bad habits by addressing them from the top. Like with all bureaucracies, nothing of importance is accomplished.
On paper, the task is simple: Fernando is to use his League Credentials to investigate the strange phenomenon that's sprouted in Littleroot. Unfortunately, everything that can go wrong does go wrong. Various individuals of unknown backgrounds cause the scene to descend into madness. Even the hired security details has a hard time trying to maintain order. Only Ruby Walker seems to show any sort of common sense, leaving the duo to navigate a disabled security system, rapidly developing tree, along with several attacks. All of this comes to end with a dramatic explosion leaving everyone else to flee for safety.
While accompanying his Tapu Fini through its pilgrimage through the region, Fernando chances upon a believed to be deceased Kaida Adachi. It take a great deal of discipline to refrain from straight out interrogating her. Through great patience, he discusses her account of the events with a mild inkling that she knows more than she's letting on. He leaves unsatisfied and with a weightier opinion on the type of people the Rangers allow to join their ranks.
Alexander Stone returns from his absence. The two heads catch up over business matters. Dead set on returning to politics, Fernando advises Alexander to take things slow while he has to undo some the mistakes created by his sister Daphne. In a twist of fate, Alexander announces his sights on Sootopolis.
Fernando confronts Stormy about her promotion to Elite Four and the responsibility it entails. Unable to see eye-to-eye, they argue over what it means to be a 'hero'. To her surprise, Fernando claims that his parents made a mistake by dying to protect them. Naturally, this is a lie, but as always, Fernando's too convincing for the other party to tell otherwise.
Kyle and his best friend take turns having their Pokemon demolish a beat up car for practice. Among small talk, Fernando reveals his Type:Null, they discuss Balder and the region's questionable intelligence, along with hypothetical avatarship.
An old acquaintance and established venture capitalist looks to extend an offer to Silph Co. Fernando politely refuses but offers up the rangers as another avenue of success. In a bid to temper what could be an unruly character, the councilman is quick to remind Asher that he's a guest in a foreign region. The topic of Francie is used as a distraction and proves super effective.
